Je úmrtí matky důležitější pro dívky a úmrtí otce pro chlapce? Analýza z rozvojových zemí / Is Maternal Death more important for Girls and Paternal Death for Boys? An Analysis from Developing Countries

Klepetko, Tomáš January 2016 (has links)
Parental death has the potential to deteriorate various outcomes of children in the developing world. One of such outcomes is education: when a parent dies, resources are reduced, psychological distress increased, so is the necessity to replace the parent in some of their duties. Literature commonly distinguishes impacts of maternal and paternal death on education of children. Nevertheless, no papers focus directly on the interaction between gender of the deceased parent and of the orphaned child. This thesis tests empirically the hypothesis that maternal death is more important for girls and paternal death for boys. The reasoning is that mothers typically spend more time caring about little children and about household generally, so after maternal death it is necessary to find a substitute for this role and it is more likely to find one among the daughters than among the sons. Subsequently, the daughter is at a higher risk of dropping out of school due to higher responsibilities at home. Fathers, on the contrary, are primarily income-earners, so after paternal death it becomes more likely that one of the sons replaces the deceased father on labour market than one of the daughters. The son then becomes more likely to stop attending school than any of the daughters. Using cross-sectional data from...

Pojetí a kategorizace trestného činu v novém trestním zákoníku / Concept of Crime in the New Criminal Code

Glatzová, Andrea January 2011 (has links)
The Criminal Act, No. 140/1961 Sb., was amended many times during its effectiveness. The amendments reacted mostly to the actual needs given by changes of crime development. During the 1990s it became obvious that these changes could not be sustainable for the future. Recodification of criminal law was prepared, and finally approved by the Parliament of the Czech Republic. The new Criminal Act came into force on 1st January 2010. The purpose of my thesis is to analyse the concept and classification of offences in the new Criminal Act. The thesis consists of eight chapters, each of them dealing with different aspects of the concept and classification of offences. Chapter One is an introduction briefly explaining the need for the new Criminal Act. The introduction also includes a short outline of the thesis. Chapter Two defines basic terminology used in the thesis (the definition of an offence, the concept of an offence and the classification of offences). Chapter Three examines the historical development of the concept of an offence and categories of offences. This chapter focuses on the Austrian Criminal Act 1787, the Austrian Criminal Act 1803, the Austrian Criminal Act 1852, draft bills of the Criminal Acts 1926 and 1937, the Criminal Act 1950 and the Criminal Act No.140/1961 Sb. Chapter Four...

Pojetí Amerického snu ve Velkém Gatsbym Francise Scotta Fitzgeralda a v Americkém snu od Normana Mailera / The Concepts of the American Dream in Francis Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby and Norman Mailer's An American Dream

Kříž, Jonáš January 2013 (has links)
The thesis provides a comparative analysis of the American Dream's concept in the two essential pieces of American literature: Francis Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby and Norman Mailer's An American Dream. The theoretical part of the text focuses on the general definition of the American Dream and its development throughout the history of the United States. It aims at exposing the close relationship of the idea of the American Dream and the American national consciousness in terms of self-reliance, individualism and freedom. The analytical part concentrates on isolating the individual literary motifs of each novel that can be regarded as related to the notion of the American Dream. It discusses the central characters as well as dramatic aspects of The Great Gatsby and An American Dream in order to prove the American Dream to represent an essential theme in their literary frameworks. As a conclusion the thesis presents the opinion that each author elaborates this theme differently. Both novels, however, expose the individual version of the American Dream as being defeated in a struggle against the collective nature of the 20th century American society restricting the efforts of an individual for his or her self-realization. Keywords: Norman Mailer, An American Dream, Francis Scott Fitzgerald,...

Návykové látky v silniční dopravě / Addictive substances in road transport

Novotný, Vojtěch January 2016 (has links)
My diploma thesis deals with the addictive substances in road transport, especially with alcohol and other narcotic drugs used by drivers of motorized and non-motorized vehicles. The thesis is divided into three main parts. First chapter provides the definition and clarification of the terms. Second chapter, Substantive law, contains two subchapters, Criminal law and Administrative law. The subchapter Criminal law analyzes crimes that can be committed in conjunction with the addictive substances in road transport, namely endangerment under influence of an addictive substance according to § 274 TZ, general endangerment and general endangerment alleging negligence according to § 272 TZ and § 273 TZ and inebriation according to § 360 TZ. The most attention is paid to the offence of endangerment under the influence of an addictive substance, which is, as the most frequently committed crime in connection with the addictive substances, analyzed in terms of elements of crime, complicity and participation, stages of the commission of the crime, qualified elements of crime and sanctions. The second subchapter, Administrative law, examines three mostly committed minor offences related to the addictive substances in road transport. These are minor offences according to § 125c odst. 1 písm. b), písm. c) and...

Pacht / Usufructuary lease

Kešner, Václav January 2017 (has links)
The main goal of this diploma thesis is to summarize usufructuary lease in accordance to Book Four of the current Civil Code, entitled "Relative property rights", Title II. "Obligations arising from juridical acts", second Chapter "Relinquishing a thing to be used by another" and the fourth Section entitled "Usufructuary lease", which is a separate type, that returns to code of private law after more than sixty years. At the beginning I dealt with circumstances of the return of the old-new Institute and the situation that preceded the efficiency of the Civil Code. Next chapter is devoted to the interpretation of some basic concepts that are not known to general public due to its archaic wording, but their definition is the basis for understanding the relationship between usufructuary lessor and usufructuary lessee. Part of this chapter also describes the thin line between lease and usufructuary lease, that lies mainly in different economic function, thus in fact, that a thing is according to a usufructuary lease contract, relinquished not only for use, but also for enjoyment. Subsequently, the diploma thesis continues with the history of usufructuary lease in the 19th and 20th centuries with an attention to Act no. 847/1811 Coll. a. s., General Civil Code, that was adopted into Czechoslovak legal...

Hannon, Timothy E. 12 1900 (has links)
Approved for public release; distribution in unlimited. / The purpose of a United States Army Directorate of Contracting (DOC) is to award or execute contracts for supplies or services and perform post-award contract administration functions for the Army installation and Army units stationed at the installation. The DOC accomplishes its purpose within the context of the Federal Acquisition System's Vision, which is to deliver on a timely basis the best value product or service to the customer, while maintaining the public's trust and fulfilling public policy objectives. A DOC must consider many external stakeholders to achieve its purpose. The basic premise of this thesis research is to improve a DOC's organizational effectiveness through the examination of its external environment, particularly, external stakeholders. The concept of stakeholder management concentrates on an organization's need to consider its relationships with specific stakeholder groups. An organization's ability to satisfy the desires of key stakeholders, meeting the stakeholders' criteria, is the key to an effective organization. Data were gathered from 15 government stakeholders and 14 contractors using a questionnaire that addressed such questions as: What are your organizations expectations and requirements of the DOC? How well did the DOC meet your needs and expectations? Does your organization control a resource needed by the DOC? The thesis summarizes findings and provides recommendations. The overall benefit of this thesis research is improved environmental awareness, which enables the DOC to become more effective in achieving its mission and meeting the desires of its external stakeholders. / Major, United States Army

En-till-en datorers påverkan på gymnasieelevers hälsa ur ett arbetsmiljöperspektiv / One-to-one computers' influence on upper secondary pupils' health from a work environmental perspective

Gustafsson, Patrik January 2013 (has links)
The One-to-One project is initiated in schools across the country but there is no research on how it affects the students' physical work environment and health from a holistic perspective. Both national, public and private schools face a need to develop the work environment, especially for the students, as the school implements the One-to-One PCs. The study aims to investigate the impact of One-to-One computers on students’ physical and mental health in a work environmental perspective in a secondary school. This study examines: How does the introduction of One-to-One PCs affect mental and physical work environment for pupils in an upper secondary school with vocational training? The study was conducted as a quantitative survey of students at a Swedish secondary school. The result includes that students feel the school work is not geared towards working with a computer as a tool, and that there is a lot that can be done regarding school environment. The study discusses aspects of pupils' health and changes that could improve the school environment.
