Appeals in Web Advertising : Exploring the influence of ethical and financial appeals on consumer attitudes

Advertising has been a common element in the web experience for years. Advertisers can use many strategies to reach their intended consumer, and can appeal to for example rationality, emotion or ethics. Using theories on the composition of ads, their context and the web user, this paper presents a study testing two types of advertising appeals – an ethical appeal and a financial appeal. The experiment tested for the effect of these appeals on outcome measures of attitude, trust and credibility, and attributions. The results show some differences between the attitudes toward the ad between the conditions, where the financial appeal produced more positive attitudes. The results also suggest a relationship between the credibility and trust measures, and the overall positive attitude toward the brand. The results are discussed in terms of credibility and perceived veracity of claims associated with the appeal.

Analýza marketingových apelov v reklame / Analysis of marketing appeals in advertisement

The aim of the Master Thesis entitled "Analysis of marketing appeals in advertisement" is to study how consumers perceive particular appeals in terms of the credibility and popularity. Furthermore, research is focused on finding out with what kind of products responders associate the advertisements with appeals of fear, humor and warmth. Next aim is to find out how responders perceive quantity of advertisement with the particular appeals. Finally, I focus on finding what examples of advertisements using the particular appeals responders recall. The work is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part covers theoretical basis of advertisement as well as psychological aspects in advertisements. Final chapter of the theoretical part is devoted to appeals in advertisement. The practical part comprises results of questionnaire, which is based on snowball method and the content analysis of 200 TV commercials, which provides information on what appeals are the most frequent ones in analyzed TV commercials.

Previous research of the Court of Appeals made in the past focused primarily on personnel matters. The authors focused on the appeals judgements occasionally. This is the reason why any significant progress in historical research in areas such as procedural matters, the definition and enforcement powers or the application of law didn't result. This thesis has the ambition to fill this empty space, at least partially. The aim of the dissertation is to provide a comprehensive picture of the Court of Appeals in the Czech lands from its foundation in 1548 to the early 17th century. This period represents a compact stage of development, when the status, authority and personnel structure are formatted and above all the shaping of decision-making and procedural practice occurs. Dissertation devotes most attention to appellate procedures. It shows what the role of Court of Appeals itself, of the lower courts and of litigant was. It examines in detail the various procedural aspects. It pays attention on how the jurisdiction of the Court of Appeals was accepted by royal and other towns in Bohemia and how the Court asserted towards other courts. Detta arbete fokuserar på att undersöka om grafiken i ett spel bidrar till en immersiv spelupplevelse hos spelare. Tidigare forskning har klargjort begreppet "immersion"och dess vikt för spelare. Kopplingar mellan grafik och immersion har identifierats, men grafikens specifika inverkan har inte tidigare studerats noggrant. Åtta deltagare genomförde speltester utan förkunskaper om syftet. Efter speltest svarade de på frågeformulär och intervjuer. Deltagarna delades in i två grupper som spelade samma spel, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, men med olika grafiska nivåer. Resultaten visade inga tydliga mönster gällande grafikens påverkan på immersion. Potentiella förbättringsområden för mer utvecklad undersökning inkluderar fler deltagare med olika åldrar och erfarenheter samt att utforska olika spelgenrer. Att utöka och ändra frågor i intervjuerna. Den största prioriteringen är att inkludera fler deltagare för en stabilare grund och för att upptäcka potentiella mönster som tidigare var för svaga att observera.

Producing Popularity: The Success in France of the Comics Series "Astérix le Gaulois"

This study examines the rise in popularity of the French comics series "Astérix le Gaulois" through a production-of-culture lens in an effort to uncover how industry evolution and organization, protectionist legislation, marketing, advertising, branding, and consecration by the media worked interdependently to catapult Astérix, the series' protagonist, into stardom by the middle of the 1960s. In so doing, this study forcefully argues that elements external to the text itself greatly facilitated, and in some ways determined, the series' quick and dramatic rise in popularity in France by 1966. The predominance of American and Belgian comics into the 1950s and the moral turn towards all things "100 % français" enabled the success of Pilote, the French-language, French-themed magazine launched in 1959 and in which "Astérix" first appeared. By the early 1960s, Pilote's faithful readership helped make the publication of "Astérix" in album format a resounding success. Simultaneous radio exposure and extensive product merchandising further promoted "Astérix" to a new, vast, and diverse comics market comprised of children and adults alike. Media consecration marked the final step in Astérix's meteoric rise in popularity in France. Institutionalization of the comics series by the national press during the 1960s transformed Astérix into an emblem of national importance, created celebrities out of the series' co-creators, and even helped legitimize bande dessinée, or comics, as a French cultural form worthy of "serious" consideration. / Master of Arts

Resumé The official title of my thesis is Application for an appeal review on the points of law in civil procedure. The main objective of this thesis is to describe the development of an institute of an application for an appeal review throughout the legal history of the civil procedure in the area of the Czech Republic up to current state, with a particular focus on the conditions of admissibility of such application and its essentials. My thesis is composed of three chapters. The first chapter is to introduce the reader to the historical development of an application of an appeal review from the very beginning in the 18th century up to date. In particular, the landmark Constitutional Court decision (sp. zn. Pl. ÚS 29/11) is emphasized in the end of the chapter. The second chapter deals with the actual legislation of an application for an appeal review in The Code of Civil Procedure. Its main goal is to describe this institute as whole. It is also to provide the reader with further analysis of some controversial issues of the actual legislation as the conditions of admissibility of an application and its essentials required by the law. Concepts that influence users’ feeling of non-intrusiveness in native advertising : A quantitative study testing the conceptualization of   effective native advertisements’ influence on users’ feeling of non-intrusiveness

Abstract Background “Traditional digital advertising has become wallpaper. It doesn’t improve anyone’s experience on a site and readers, myself included, pretty much look past it” stated by Jason Hill, Global Head of Media Strategies (Adage.com, 2019). Marketing managers attempt and fail in adapting traditional marketing strategies to the unfamiliar digital landscape. Traditional techniques e.g. banner ads appear as intrusive and unwanted according to consumers. Brands have in response strategically changed its communication to a rather subtle approach that aims to be non-intrusive. Aforesaid strategy is referred to as native advertising. Native advertising however is not unproblematic as said approach may be exploited to be deceptive, intrusive and secretive, brand whom implements such a strategy may be rewarded with short term positives. However the long term effects of said strategy prove negatives in various aspects of the brand. Purpose The purpose of this thesis is to explain how the conceptualization of native ads influence users’ feeling of non-intrusiveness. Method The conducted study implemented a deductive approach to research, including an explanatory purpose as previously elaborated upon. The study is further characterized as a cross-sectional design in which the researchers aimed to test the conceptualization of non-intrusive native advertising. The researchers further conducted a self administrated questionnaire with a total of 158 respondents. The data was cleaned in SPSS and further tested for reliability, validity and hypothesis testing. Conclusion The findings of the conducted study concludes that personalized advertising positively contributes to users’ feeling of non-intrusiveness. On the other hand, contextual relevance, 1 transparency, emotional appeal and informational appeal were rejected as such variables were not statistically significant in explaining non-intrusiveness. Therefore, the researchers rejected hypothesis H1, H2, H3, H4 and therefore rejected previous research stating that these variables contributes to users’ feeling of non-intrusiveness. However H5 was accepted, therefore theories that suggests that personalization according to one’s interest, previous interactions and real-time data to influence users feeling of non-intrusiveness were confirmed.

The Federal Constitution, dated October 5th, 1988, divided the former extraordinary appeal, creating the special appeal to protect the infra-constitutional law and the Superior Tribunal de Justiça as the court with competence to judge it. For this purpose, before investigating the subject matter of our study, we have made an essential introduction related to general considerations of the appeals, passing through the analysis of the courts of the National Judicial Power and the reasons for the creation of the Superior Tribunal de Justiça and the special appeal. Initially, we have examined the construction made by the Supremo Tribunal Federal, due to the lack of infra-constitutional statutes concerning the procedure of the joint appeal by the extraordinary appeal and the special appeal. Following, we discoursed about the basics appeals principles related to the joint appeal by the extraordinary appeal and the special appeal. We have deepened the study by fixing the nature of the judgment that authorizes the joint appeal by the extraordinary appeal and the special appeal. The legitimacy to appeal, in accordance to judgments that authorize double appealing by extraordinary appeal and the special appeal, has been exhausted evaluated. Moreover, we have identified, in light of statutes and principles, the order of the judgments of the extraordinary appeal and the special appeal and the possible prejudicial relation between them. Finally, due to the methodological rigor of the scientific study, we present the conclusions arisen during the essay. / O presente estudo tem por objeto a análise do procedimento e dos efeitos da interposição conjunta do recurso extraordinário e do recurso especial. A Constituição Federal de 5 de outubro de 1988, desmembrando o antigo recurso extraordinário, criou o recurso especial para tutela do direito infraconstitucional, e, o Superior Tribunal de Justiça, como órgão com competência para julgá-lo. Neste desiderato, precedendo a investigação do objeto a que nos propomos a estudar, fizemos uma essencial introdução tecendo considerações gerais sobre os recursos, passando pela análise dos órgãos do Poder Judiciário Nacional e, a razão que levou a criação do Superior Tribunal de Justiça e do recurso especial. Inicialmente, examinamos a interpretação construtiva realizada pelo Supremo Tribunal Federal, em virtude da ausência de normas infraconstitucionais disciplinando o procedimento da interposição conjunta do recurso extraordinário e do recurso especial.
