Lidská práva v islámské společnosti: Komparace postavení ženy v Turecku a Saudské Arábii / Human rights in Islam: Comparation of the status of women in Turkey and Saudi Arabia

Poustková, Karolína January 2008 (has links)
The thesis studies the human rights in Islam and evaluates them in concrete comparison of Muslim women's position in two different Muslim countries. It approaches two main human rights concepts: universalism and cultural relativism and describes the system and structure of Islamic law which determine all Muslims and Muslim society and therefore human rights perception itself. The diploma work follows two main goals:1) analysis of human rights from Islamic perspective, namely by its confrontation with prevalent universal model of human rights and 2) comparison of the status of Muslim woman in Turkey and Saudi Arabia. The thesis is logically divided into four consequential parts. First two chapters introduce to theoretical issues of human rights and Islamic religion, the two other pivotal parts are concentrated on the above mentioned set goals. The objectivity of the thesis should be ensured by using various foreign-language sources of information from which studies and reports of international organizations such as United Nations, Human Rights Watch or Amnesty International form a considerable part.

Mezinárodní profesní migrace zdravotních sester a její kulturní aspekty, případová studie: Království Saúdské Arábie / International Professional Migration of Nurses and its Cultural Aspects, case study: the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Babilonová, Zuzana January 2009 (has links)
The thesis is focused on the professional migration of Czech nurses to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In the beginning I characterize migration theories that together with other chapters about the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, healthcare systems of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Czech Republic create basis for the research that is presented in chapter 5. Objectives of the research, which is the crucial part of the thesis, are to reveal motivations of the Czech nurses that lead to migration to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, their imaginations and expectations bounded with work and life in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Also I would like to find out if the expectations were met and if they want to work and live in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on a longterm basis. Based on the results of the research, I conclude that Czech nurses do not want to stay in such country on a longterm basis especially due to big cultural differences between Saudi Arabian and Czech culture. At the end of the thesis I briefly characterize intercultural training that could help Czech nurses with their adaptation to Saudi Arabian culture.

L'image de l'enseignement supérieur féminin en Arabie saoudite / The image of female higher education in Saudi Arabia

Alnaeem, Yasseir 10 June 2014 (has links)
Women's higher education is very important in Saudi Arabia, but for both cultural and social reasons, there are no serious studies on this phenomenon that concerns the gender relationships in the Saudi kingdom. How is designed female education in Saudi Arabia? How is perceived female higher education? What is the status and image of women in higher education? What impact on the family and the Saudi culture? What about diversity and gender relationships? These are questions among others that this PhD dissertation attempts to answer based on analyzes of press corpus and many field investigations. In the first part of the dissertation are explained the cultural elements that shape the imagination of Saudi people regarding the issue of women education. In the second part is analyzed the image of female higher education based on a corpus study and field surveys. Finally, in the third part, the perception of highly educated women is put into perspective in relation to social, economical and political stakes of the Saudi kingdom.

The Role of Social Media in Providing New Opportunities in Work and Life: A Qualitative Study of Professional Saudi Arabian Women

Saleh, Ramzia Hisham 17 April 2020 (has links)
This study builds on a small but growing body of research concerning socio-economic, cultural, political, and personal challenges influencing Saudi women’s professional development. Although Saudi women have more advantages and opportunities in 2020 compared to previous historical periods, women still face challenges related to employment and professional status. This research provides an in-depth analysis of the insider experience connected to challenges Saudi women face in work and life that hinder their professional development. Specifically, this research explored the role of social media in providing new opportunities to help Saudi women overcome challenges they face in work and life. Guided by a qualitative approach, this interpretive study is conducted through interviews, supporting documents analysis, and personal experiences. This study draws on Technofeminism, Intersectional Feminism, and Social Role Theory in order to provide a broad theoretical lens to help interpret findings. Using thematic analysis, six main themes were uncovered: (1) socio-cultural challenges, (2) personal challenges, (3) ethical challenges, (4) institutional challenges, (5) civic and professional engagement, and (6) socialization and privacy issues. General findings indicated that despite efforts from the Saudi Arabian government to enhance women’s rights in society, women continue to face socio-cultural, personal, and ethical challenges in work and life. The advanced analysis revealed that social media does have a positive role in providing Saudi women with new opportunities to overcome challenges they face but that cultural norms and traditional practices continue to create challenges that hinder Saudi women’s professional development.

Le droit des femmes en Arabie Saoudite : enjeux et mutation / Women's Rights in Saudi Arabia : challenges and Changes

Al Maiman, Maha 21 November 2018 (has links)
This thesis focuses on Saudi women's rights and the challenges to improve their legal and social status within the Kingdom. The analysis of the legal texts that govern women's rights from the sole official Constitution of the country - Shariah Law- reveals the need to codify laws. Women's position in the Saudi legal system is researched through the influence of Islamic Law and the international standards of human rights. A woman's rights within the household is a relevant indicator to her placement within the ranks of society. Many obstacles have long hindered women's freedom, particularly customs ans traditions as compulsory to society upbringing. Nevertheless, a new form of female power has emerged since the establishment of the Saudi Vision 2030. Moreover, the public and private sectors, including the society, have a major role to undertake in ensuring justice for women.

The significance of in-service teacher’s training for fully integrating CALL in the female public schools in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Alajmi, Aljawharah Mahdi January 2013 (has links)
Developments in technology have influenced all areas of life, including education and in particular, language learning and teaching. The computer has become very advantageous in the teaching of foreign languages, especially with the augmentation of hardware, software and the World Wide Web. Computer-assisted language learning (CALL) is beneficial, since it helps teachers to enhance their teaching and gives students the opportunity to learn in an authentic and interesting environment. The impact of CALL has led many researchers to carry out studies to explore the significance of CALL and the factors that could enhance or reduce the integration of CALL into language learning and teaching. Although CALL could be beneficial to the enhancement of English proficiency among Saudi Arabian students, the integration of CALL is still narrow in terms of quantity and quality among EFL teachers in public female secondary schools in Riyadh. So, this study aims to explore the current integration of CALL among these teachers. Furthermore, this study aims to explore some of the factors that contribute to the integration of CALL, those being computer literacy and the computer training that is available for both pre-service and in-service teachers. In addition, the study focuses on the kind of training that is vital to enhance teachers' use of CALL. Also, this study revolves around the teachers' roles when using CALL, their barriers to the integration of CALL, as well as their attitudes toward CALL. The first step in this study is a background of the history of language teaching methods, starting with the traditional methods and ending with the integration of CALL. The literature review follows in order to substantiate this study with relevant studies that have been conducted in this area and to provide the theoretical background of the study. After that, the methods that are used to carry out the study are indicated; including the questionnaire, follow-up interviews and two focus groups. Lastly, an analysis of the results is done in order to come up with the findings. The findings of the study suggest that the current levels of computer use and computer literacy among EFL teachers are still insufficient. The available computer training is inadequate for both pre-service and in-service teachers and there are no computer courses facilitated by the Ministry of Education. Moreover, in-service teachers still need ongoing computer training courses to keep them up to date with recent developments in educational technology. Recommendations to increase teachers’ computer literacy and to enhance their use of CALL are considered as well as recommendations for further Saudi Arabian studies on CALL. / Dissertation (MA)--University of Pretoria, 2013. / gm2014 / Afrikaans / unrestricted

Knowledge Sharing Among Academics in Higher Education Institutions in Saudi Arabia

Alsaadi, Fahad M. 01 January 2018 (has links)
The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) in Saudi Arabia aims to move toward a knowledge-based economy and many knowledge management (KM) and knowledge sharing (KS) initiatives have been taken to accelerate the achievement of this goal. Despite the substantial body of research into KS in the business environment, research that investigates factors that promote KS practices among academics in higher education institutions (HEIs) is generally limited, but particularly in Saudi Arabia. To bridge this gap, the goal was to explore what individual and organizational factors contribute to a person’s willingness to share knowledge and develop a profile of the current knowledge sharing culture of academics within HEIs in Saudi Arabia. An online survey was designed based on extant literature and used to collect both quantitative and qualitative data on organizational factors (i.e. leadership, organizational structure, information technology platform, and organizational culture) and individual factors (i.e., willingness to share knowledge, attitude toward KS, expected rewards and associations, expected contribution, and trust) that influence the success of KS in HEIs. A total of 140 completed surveys were analyzed. The quantitative data were analyzed through validity, reliability, descriptive, and multivariate regression analyses. A qualitative coding process was used to analyze the open-ended questions. Quantitative data analysis resulted in a significant main effect for factors of trust, leadership, and attitude toward KS on the person’s willingness to share knowledge. Results for the factors of expected rewards and associations, expected contribution, organizational structure, information technology platform, and organizational culture were not significant. Qualitative analysis revealed that Saudi academics generally have a positive attitude toward knowledge sharing and prefer sharing knowledge face-to-face. Knowledge sharing is mainly related to teaching strategies followed by research. Trust and time are key factors in their willingness to share, as well as, support from their institutions through effective information systems and facilitation of open communication and collaboration. While most academics are intrinsically motivated to share knowledge, some expect extrinsic rewards and recognition. Findings will assist Saudi HEIs to design systems necessary to become knowledge-based institutions, help HEI management plan and apply KS practices, and identify future research opportunities to advance KS in HEIs.
