Bibliotekariestudenters attityd till marknadsföring på bibliotek / Library Students Attitudes to Marketing in Libraries

Enarsson, Hanna January 2012 (has links)
: This bachelor thesis explores library students’ attitudes towards marketing in libraries. The aim is to find out if they are interested in working whit marketing questions in their future workplaces. To perform the study the author used a questionnaire survey and 48 students completed the survey. The answers where converted into present form and 10 charts were created to show the result. The survey is based on the library researcher Eileen Elliot de Saèz theories of the marketing mix adapted to a library perceptive. de Saèz means that the library always must put the users of the library in focus and all services should be designed after the users needs.   The result shows that the students’ thought it was important to do marketing in libraries and was interested in working whit these issues in the future. However, the general attitude towards marketing was higher then the willingness to work with these questions on there future workplaces. It was a recurring result throughout the study.

Bengtson, Anna, Rutanen, Kirsi January 1995 (has links)
This paper will portray the differences and similarities that exist between students whoattended the Swedish School of Library and Information Science in Borås.The study is based upon quantitative information gathered from a survey which wasdistributed to first-year students in Borås in the auturnn term 1994. A total of 77 studentsresponded to the survey. We also do a comparative study of the students at all the library programs in Sweden. This is partially based on the findings by a thesis prior to this one by the authorsSvalstedt and Österdahl. We found that the students in Borås differ mainly in their personal histories and backgrounds. When it comes to their attitudes towards the profession and educationalmatters they are similar. Further we found the same to be true in our comparison of thelibrary programs in total.

Bibliotekariestudenter : informationsnissar eller kultursnubbar : vem söker till bibliotekarieutbildningarna i Lund, Umeå, och varför? / Students at the programs of library studies : information freaks or culture snobs : who is applying for the programs of library studies in Lund and Umeå, and why?

Svalstedt, Marika, Österdahl, Helena January 1995 (has links)
This thesis will portray the different types of students at the programs of library studiesin Lund and Umeå.The study is based upon quantitative information gathered from a survey, which wasdistributed to first-year students in Lund and Umeå. The survey was followed by qualitativeinterviews with four students, and with the director of studies from each school. The study shows that the programs, as we11 as the students, are very similar, althoughthere are some minor differences. It seemed that the students at Umeå were moreinterested in culture than those at Lund.A certain connection between the aim at information and the ownership of a computercould be detected. The sex of the students played a major part in their choice of education. The attractors and facilitators, used by Lortie in his study, could also be appliedto the students at the program of library studies in our thesis.

Bibliotekarie : vad är du, vad kan du, vad vill du? - en kvalitativ studie om bibliotekariestudenters och utbildningsrepresentanters syn på yrkesidentitet, kompetens och karriär / Librarian : What are You, What can You Do, What do You Want? - A Qualitative Study of Library Students and Education Officers View on Professional Identity, Competence and Career

Andersson, Linda, Dahlén, Johanna January 2011 (has links)
The aim for this bachelor thesis was to form a deeper understanding of librarians‟ occupation and professional identity and therefore we have examined library students‟ and educators‟ view on professional identity, competence and career possibilities. Our take on this was that there seems to be little interest in managerial positions and we asked ourselves why this is and if we could see a change in interest in the librarians to become. As our theoretical framework, we chose Andrew Abbott‟s, 'Theory of Profession'. The method chosen was qualitative interviews: two individual interviews with education officers and a focus group interview with students. The conclusions drawn were based upon literature and empirical material gathered from the interviews. The librarian identity and competence is a complex issue and has been much discussed since the early 1960‟s. Both education officers and students have had difficulties trying to express their views on librarian‟s professional identity in words. The students had shared the stereotypical picture of an old lady with glasses and a bun before the start of their education; but later had gladly reconceptualised. Previous research showed a fragmented identity among librarians and difficulties to unite in a distinct competence. Our study showed a similar result among our informants but they also shared a strong core of ideology, humanistic values, and a passion for information. The students may have become generalists in their profession, however, they were ambitious and were not afraid to lead. / Program: Bibliotekarie

”Ingen faktatext hade nog fått mig att förstå” : Hur skolbibliotekarier och bibliotekariestudenter ser på skönlitteraturens empatifrämjande effekter / ”No factual text could have made me understand” : How school librarians and library science students view the empathy enhancing effects of fiction

Hamrelius Östling, Fanny January 2024 (has links)
This study examines how school librarians and library science students view the empathy-enhancing effects of fiction. The focus is mainly on effects on children, young people and students in schools. The motivation behind this work is to investigate what the respondents view as challenges and opportunities relating to the subject. This is done to provide a basis to further investigate and promote this effect. The empathy-promoting effects could have a positive effect in our current school climate, where there is still discrimination against, among others, marginalized groups. The study was conducted using semi-structured interviews with a total of five people. The result was gone through hermeneutically and through a model based on transportation theory. The model assumes that reading can be seen as a simulation of experiences, which can lead to stronger empathy in the real world. The results show that there are both opportunities and challenges in working with literature to promote empathy. A large part of the problems relates to getting a reader to engage with the material. This differs from the understanding in the theoretical background. This may indicate that what is needed is a focus on working to promote reading, more resources and to prioritize enjoyable reading. Possibly, this would in the long run lead to empathy-promoting effects.
