What is the “Ševčík Method”? : Deeper understanding of Otakar Ševčík’s excercises for violin based on the example of his 40 Variations, op. 3Kwiatkowska, Angelika January 2020 (has links)
In this thesis I have studied the so-called “Ševčík method” based on the example of his 40 Variations, op. 3. I’ve tried to achieve a deeper understanding of what the exercises are good for and how they work. I took a closer look at Otakar Ševčík’s life and work history, I also investigated other’s opinions and judgements of the “method” that were appearing in press and literature during the last hundred years. The practical part of my project is the experiment that I’ve put myself through. I was diligently practicing 40 Variations every day, trying to improve my technique and learn by playing how to apply those exercises in real life. As a result of this process I’ve developed my bow technique and gained better understanding of how to use Ševčík’s exercises. /
The sounding part of the work consists of the following recordings:

1)Mozart before 2) Mozart after 3) Rossini before 4) Rossini after

The Corona virus situation spring semester 2020 has caused limitations in the recording possibilities. The recordings may be supplemented.

Med Johan Helmich Roman som lärare : Lärdomar kring instudering och dokumentation av 25 etyder från 1700-talet / Tutored by Johan Helmich Roman : Lessons learned from studying and documenting 25 etudes from the 18th centuryFlensner, Bina January 2023 (has links)
The overall aim of this bachelor thesis is to document the 25 etudes by J. H. Roman from around 1730 with audio recording. To my knowledge, these etudes have not previously been recorded in their entirety, and thus my hope is to be able to contribute to a wider acknowledgement of these to many completely unknown etudes by ”The Father of Swedish Music”. In order to achieve the aim of the essay, the process of studying, interpretation and documentation is analyzed. The result is that 25 etudes by Roman are recorded and that they will be made available on YouTube. The 25 etudes differ from each other and require different things from the musician. The etudes hold great potential for broadened and deepened learning of various violin-specific techniques. The etudes are also and above all musically appealing and beautiful. The essay points out that J. H. Roman deserves an obvious place in the violin repertoire. /
