360 degree and spherical multi-cameras built by fixing together several consumer cameras become popular and are convenient for recent applications like immersive videos, 3D modeling and virtual reality. This type of cameras allows to include the whole scene in a single view. When the goal of our applications is to merge monocular videos together into one cylinder video or to obtain 3D informations from environment, there are several basic steps that should be performed beforehand.Among these tasks, we consider the synchronization between cameras; the calibration of multi-camera system including intrinsic and extrinsic parameters (i.e. the relative poses between cameras); and the rolling shutter calibration. The goal of this thesis is to develop and apply user friendly method. Our approach does not require a calibration pattern. First, the multi-camera is initialized thanks to assumptions that are suitable to an omnidirectional camera without a privileged direction:the cameras have the same setting (frequency, image resolution, field-of-view) and are roughly equiangular.Second, a frame-accurate synchronization is estimated from instantaneous angular velocities of each camera provided by monocular Structure-from-Motion.Third, both inter-camera poses and intrinsic parameters are refined using multi-camera Structure-from-Motion and bundle adjustment.Last, we introduce a bundle adjustment that estimates not only the usual parameters but also a subframe-accurate synchronization and the rolling shutter. We experiment in a context that we believe useful for applications (3D modeling and 360 videos):several consumer cameras or a spherical camera mounted on a helmet and moving along trajectories of several hundreds of meters or kilometers.

Energetics of maize C4 physiology under light limiting conditionsBellasio, Chandra January 2014 (has links)
C4 plants have a biochemical carbon concentrating mechanism (CCM) that increases CO2 concentration around Rubisco in the bundle sheath (BS). Maize CCM has two CO2 delivery pathways to the Bundle Sheath (BS) (respectively via malate, MAL or aspartate, ASP); rates of PGA reduction, carbohydrate synthesis and PEP regeneration vary between BS and Mesophyll (M) cells. For these anatomical and biochemical complexities, C4 plants are highly sensitive to light conditions. Under limiting light, the activity of the CCM generally decreases, causing an increase in leakiness, (Φ), the ratio of CO2 retrodiffusing from the BS relative to C4 carboxylation processes. This increase in Φ had been theoretically associated with a decrease in biochemical operating efficiency (expressed as ATP cost of gross assimilation, ATP / GA) under low light and, because a proportion of canopy photosynthesis is carried out by shaded leaves, to potential productivity losses at field scale. In C4 leaves, because of the concentric anatomy, light reaches M cells before the deeper BS (Evans et al., 2007), and could alter the energetic partitioning balance between BS and M and potentially cause efficiency losses. In this experimental programme I investigated strategies deployed by C4 plants to adjust operating efficiency under different illumination conditions. Firstly, maize plants were grown under high and low light regimes (respectively HL, 600 vs LL, 100 μE m-2 s-1). Short term acclimation of Φ was compared from isotopic discrimination (Δ), gas exchange and photochemistry using an improved modelling approach which does not suffer from elements of circularity. Long term acclimation to low light intensities brought about physiological changes which could potentially increase the operating efficiency under limiting ATP supplies. Secondly, profiles of light penetration across a leaf were used to derive the potential ATP supply for M and BS cells induced by changing light quality. Empirical measurements of net CO2 uptake, ATP production rate and carbon isotope discrimination were made on plants under a low light intensity. The overall conversion efficiency was not affected by light quality. A comprehensive metabolic model highlighted the importance of both CO2 delivery pathways in maize. Further, metabolic plasticity allowed the balancing of ATP and NADPH requirements between BS and M. Finally, I tested the hypothesis that plants can modify their physiology so as to reach a status of higher operating efficiency when exposed to high light and then to low light, so as to mimic the transition which leaves undergo when shaded by newly emerging leaves in a crop canopy. Plants were grown under high light and low light for three weeks, then, HL plants were transferred to low light for a further three weeks. Re-acclimation was very effective in reducing ATP cost of net assimilation under low light intensities. In addition, the hyperbolic leakiness increase observed under low light intensities was not associated to operating efficiency loss. Overall, in the three experimental Chapters I showed compelling theoretical and empirical evidence proving the hypothesis that C4 plants deal with low light conditions and with different light qualities without losing operating efficiency.

Vliv zanášení svazku trubek v kotli na jeho životnost / The effect of boiler tube bundle fouling on its service lifeVolná, Kateřina January 2018 (has links)
Fouling of tube bundles in boilers on the flue gas side affects not only the service life, but also the boiler heat output and increases maintenance and operating costs. Therefore, it is necessary to minimize or completely eliminate this process. This thesis focuses on comparison of the service life and the heat output of the tube bundles with and without deposit in the coal fired boiler. Simulations of flue gas flow in area of tube bundles with and without deposit are performed using ANSYS Fluent software, which shows that the surface of tube bundles with deposit is much less heated than the surface without deposit. The thermal loads of tubes obtained by the CFD analysis are applied to the model, which is created in the program ANSYS Mechanical, where the calculation of the temperature field in the cross section of the pipe is realized. The effect of fouling on creep life and heat output is then evaluated based on simulation results. The results show that fouling increases creep life, but significantly reduces heat output of heavily fouled tubes. Hence the flue gas flows at a higher temperature to the rest of the tube bundle, and the service life of those tubes will therefore probably decrease.

Strömungsprofilmessungen mittels PIV-Verfahren an einem StabbündelFranz, R., Hampel, U. January 2013 (has links)

The use of terrestrial laser scanning has grown in popularity in recent years, and replaces and complements
previous measuring methods, as well as opening new fields of application. If data from terrestrial laser
scanners are combined with photogrammetric image data, this yields promising possibilities, as the properties
of both types of data can be considered mainly complementary: terrestrial laser scanners produce fast and reliable
three-dimensional representations of object surfaces from only one position, while two-dimensional
photogrammetric image data are characterised by a high visual quality, ease of interpretation, and high lateral
accuracy. Consequently there are numerous approaches existing, both hardware- and software-based, where
this combination is realised. However, in most approaches, the image data are only used to add additional
characteristics, such as colouring point clouds or texturing object surfaces generated from laser scanner data.
A thorough exploitation of the complementary characteristics of both types of sensors provides much more
potential.
For this reason a calculation method – the integrated bundle adjustment – was developed within this thesis,
where the observations of discrete object points derived from terrestrial laser scanner data and photogrammetric
image data are utilised equally. This approach has several advantages: using the individual characteristics
of both types of data they mutually strengthen each other in terms of 3D object coordinate determination,
so that a higher accuracy can be achieved; all involved data sets are optimally co-registered; and
each instrument is simultaneously calibrated.
Due to the (spherical) field of view of most terrestrial laser scanners of 360° in the horizontal direction
and up to 180° in the vertical direction, the integration with rotating line panoramic cameras or cameras with
fisheye lenses is very appropriate, as they have a wider field of view compared to central perspective cameras.
The basis for the combined processing of terrestrial laser scanner and photogrammetric image data is the
strict geometric modelling of the recording instruments. Therefore geometric models, consisting of a basic
model and additional parameters for the compensation of systematic errors, was developed and verified for
terrestrial laser scanners and different types of cameras. Regarding the geometric laser scanner model, different
approaches described in the literature were considered, as well as applying correction models known
from theodolites and total stations.
A particular consideration within the combined processing is the definition of the stochastic model. Since
different types of observations with different underlying geometric models and different stochastic properties
have to be adjusted simultaneously, adequate weights have to be assigned to the measurements. An unfavourable
weighting can have a negative influence on the adjustment results. Therefore a variance component estimation
procedure was implemented in the integrated bundle adjustment, which allows for an automatic determination
of optimal observation weights. Hence, it becomes possible to exploit the potential of the combination
of terrestrial laser scanner and photogrammetric image data completely.
For the calculation of the integrated bundle adjustment, software was developed allowing various algorithmic
configurations of the different data types to be applied. Numerous laser scanner, panoramic image, fisheye
image and central perspective image data were recorded in different test fields and processed using the
developed software. Several calculation alternatives were analysed, demonstrating the advantages and limitations
of the presented method. An application example from the field of geology illustrates the potential of the
algorithm in practice.

Harmonic Losses in Windings of Inverter-Fed High-Speed PM Motors / Förluster i lindningar av högvarviga PM maskiner med växelriktareYang, Yang January 2015 (has links)
This master thesis focuses on the estimation of losses in windings of a high-speed PermanentMagnet (PM) motor. The PM motor studied in this thesis is applied to a nut-runner systemwith specic characteristics such as operating at a high speed (30000 rpm), relatively smallsize and being slot-less. Previously published analytical models for calculation the losses inwindings are discussed in the literature study along with related background theory. Finiteelement method (FEM) 2D is applied in the simulations using FLUX v12. Simulations beginwith several conductors and bundles. Meanwhile, the analytical estimation of those caseswas carried out. The comparisons between results from both sources are discussed. Beforefurther investigations, the way of connection of bundles and conductors and the applicationof symmetrical conditions for following simulations are discussed. Furthermore, the wholewindings with a iron ring and the rotor are simulated step by step in FLUX. Eect of ironmaterial, lamination thickness and base value are investigated. Finally, losses in windingswith various situations are calculated and compared at 10 kHz and 20 kHz. Noradrenergic Fiber Sprouting in the CerebellumKostrzewa, Richard M., Harston, Craig T., Fukushima, Hideki, Brus, Ryszard 01 January 1982 (has links)
In order to attain a better understanding of the sprouting response of noradrenergic fibers in the central nervous system (CNS), noradrenergic innervation to the cerebellum was observed by the glyoxylic acid method after a variety of manipulations and in a genetic variant of mouse classified as "Purkinje cell degeneration" (pcd/pcd). It has been found that a midbrain lesion in rats at birth will result in a collateral sprouting response of noradrenergic fibers in the cerebellum at 8 weeks, as indicated by the increased number of histofluorescent fibers observed in the molecular layer of the cerebellar cortex. Another procedure, treatment of neonatal rats with nerve growth factor alone appears to produce a temporary stimulation of noradrenergic fiber growth in the cerebellum, as observed by the histofluorescent method, although the innervation at 6 weeks or later is ultimately unchanged from the control group. In contrast, NGF (500 units) given to rats in combination with 6-hydroxydopa (6-OHDOPA) (60 μg/g IP) at 3 days postbirth produces a hyperinnervation of the cerebellum by noradrenergic fibers by 2 weeks of age and until at least 8 weeks of age. A third procedure, locus coeruleus implantation, was generally unsuccessful using the procedures described, since the implant was usually non-viable after several days. In a few instances where histofluorescent nuclei were found within the implant, there was an abundance of histofluorescent fibers within and adjacent to the implant, with fibers appearing to grow into host cerebellum. In the final procedure, it was noted that the density of noradrenergic input to the molecular layer of the cerebellar cortex was markedly increased in a genetic mutant mouse, classified as "Purkinje cell degeneration" (pcd/pcd), which is characterized by the absence of Purkinje cells of the cerebellum in adulthood. However, because of the tissue shrinkage that occurs after loss of Purkinje cells during postnatal development, it is unclear as to whether this observation represents hyperinnervation or a normal complement of fibers in a smaller brain space. The above procedures demonstrate the plasticity of noradrenergic fibers in neonatal cerebellum, a brain region that undergoes considerable postnatal development. The cerebellum is thought to be a good site for studying development/ regeneration/sprouting of noradrenergic fibers in particular, and central axonal processes in general.

Etude hydraulique et statistique d'écoulements métastables en faisceaux d'assemblage REP / Hydraulic and statistical study of metastable phenomena in PWR rod bundle flowsMuller, Florian 19 November 2018 (has links)
The analysis of fuel rod bundle flows constitute a key element of pressurized-water reactors safety studies. Indeed, an insufficient flow thermal mixing can lead to a boiling crisis, which is nefarious for the reactor safety. Numerous studies have shown the existence of reorganisation phenomena in the flow large-scale structures. This thesis work aims at improving our understanding of these phenomena, with the long-term goal of developing small-scales models suited for this type of flow. A bibliographic study has brought to light the challenges faced by simulations attempting to capture these phenomena, as well as various questions regarding their physical meaning. 3D simulations have been performed in order to study this flow ; they allowed to identify two reorganisation mechanisms for the large-scale structures consisting in a sign change for either a transverse velocity in rod-to-rod gaps or for a subchannel vortex. It appeared relevant to adopt a Taylor hypothesis in order to consider the evolution of large-scale 3D structures as transported-2D. A statistical method has then been applied to the 2D field in order to determine its thermodynamically-stable states in geometries with obstacles using the resolution of an optimization problem with a numerical calculation tool. Interesting similarities have been obtained between the PWR coherent structures and the stable states in a simplified 2D geometry. Further, 2D numerical simulations allowed to identify two different possible flow bifurcations. A parallel is drawn between these bifurcations and the two reorganizations observed in 3D simulations, laying the foundations for a physical explanation of this phenomenon
