This study concluded that the Three Forms of Unity does not give the same meaning to the word “church” all the way through, since the word is used to describe both the visible and invisible sides of the church. When these different uses of the word “church” are left out of consideration in discussions concerning the church and only one of the two sides of the church is emphasised, it leads to the large degree of confusion and indistiction which these days is experienced in ecclesiastical debates. Before there can be any meaningful progress in these discussions, it is therefore necessary to establish which view of the Bible as well as concept of the church, is being taken as starting point of the discussion. Reformed academics have already done many studies concerning the Biblical usage of the word “church”. This study has taken the research a step further and shown that the use of the word “church” in the Three Forms of Unity agrees with the Biblical usage of the word. The Bible and the Three Forms of Unity mean, with the word “church”, both sides of the church of Christ. This church is on the one side invisible, seeing that is spans time and place and in doing so is the sum total of all the elect. On the other side, this church is made visible in a defined place and time and bears the stamp of its own time and culture in which it took its shape. Confusion arises when it is assumed that whatever the Bible and confessions state as indicative of the invisible church is necessarily indicative of the church`s visible side also. This is particularly valid, for example, in the doctrine concerning the attributes and characteristics of the church. This study has brought the old truths about the church from the Bible and confessions freshly to the fore in a time when very little attention is being paid to them. Yet it is precisely these truths concerning the concept of the church that can bring progress in ecclesiastical discussion. It was further demonstrated that the concept of the church held by the Afrikaans Protestant Churches stands on solid Biblical and confessional grounds. / Dissertation (MA (Research in Practical Theology))--University of Pretoria, 2007. / Practical Theology / MA / unrestricted

Framför ditt tal med energi! : En läromedelsgranskning av vad som anses känneteckna god icke-verbal kommunikation vid muntliga framföranden / Present Your Speech with Energy! : A Critical Textbook Review of What Is Considered to Caracterize Good Non-verbal Communication in Oral PresenationsAdolfsson, Evelina January 2021 (has links)
Previous studies show that students are often expected to speak in front of a group, but they receive little guidance on how they should proceed. The aim of this essay is to contribute to the area by a critical examination of the advice and exercises that appear in six textbooks for the Swedish subject in upper secondary school. The study focuses solely on body language and voice ("actio") in oral presentations. Through a qualitative text analysis, the study examines what is considered to characterize a good actio according to the textbooks and how students are expected to acquire these abilities. The essay also sheds light on how the content of textbooks can be understood in relation to the theory ”actiokapitalet” (Gelang, 2008). The result show that contact with the audience through gaze, variation in the use of voice and a lack of nervous expressions, is considered desirable. In the textbooks, students are often encouraged to develop actio through listening to feedback. Within actiokapitalet, a holistic perspective on actio is emphasized, as well as the fact that body language and the use of voice depend on the social context. The content of the books can both be considered compatible with, and deviating from, the theory. In the concluding discussion, I claim that ”actiokapitalet” contributes with an in-depth perspective on the textbooks and I call for further studies where the theory is tested in teaching.

Excessive funeral expenditure in the black townships, a pastoral challengeMoreo, Bishop Stephen Mosimanegape January 2013 (has links)
Funerals are still considered as very important and well attended occasion in the black
townships of South Africa. In the recent past, traditional African funerals practices have
affected a number of powerful and complex systems that have been interaction in Africa.
The three most important being traditional African cultures, modern Western culture and the
environment.
The study was conducted to establish factors that led to excessive funerals expenditures in
some black townships communities of South Africa, in order to create a pastoral response to
this phenomenon. The project was done in Ramatlabama village in the North West province
and also in Soweto in the province of Gauteng.
A qualitative methodological plan was followed allowing exclusive experiences to emerge.
Families, adults and young church groups, clergy, Bishop, Social group and a Funeral
undertaker , an in-depth qualitative analysis was employed in order to find the real reasons
that led to excessive funeral expenditure. The data collected and analyzed revealed that
factors such as impressing neighbors, meeting community and family expectation were the
reasons for the phenomenon. There were other external factors that contributed indirectly to
the practice and such as commercialization and politicization.
In order to address this practice that is making the poor more vulnerable, the Shepherding
Model of Gerkin’s and Pollard’s Theory of positive deconstruction was explored. It was
found that the Clergy needed to be helped to be aware of the fact that excessive funeral
expenditure requires a pastoral response with the right attitude and meaningful dialogues with
those affected. The pastoral care-giver with adequate knowledge and exposure to life of
pastoral care seeker will have a greater advantage to help most if not all families that usually
find themselves in this predicament or dilemma. The best way for the church to help the poor
families venture into the future, it’s by educating our communities on how not to spend
beyond their means. / Thesis (PhD)--University of Pretoria, 2013. / gm2013 / Practical Theology / unrestricted

Geoffroi du Loroux et l'architecture religieuse en Aquitaine au XIIème siècle / Geoffroi du Loroux and the religious architecture in Aquitaine during the XIIth centuryMasson, Juliette 04 July 2012 (has links)
The purpose of this study on the canonical foundations of Geoffroy du Loroux, Archbishop of Bordeaux from 1136 to 1158, is to reveal the involvement of the prelate in the architectural party of its foundations that seem a priori to show similarities in plan and elevation. As a great artisan of the Gregorian reform in Aquitaine, the action of Geoffroy du Loroux is well surrounded through his collection of sermons while its foundations were never subjected to a dedicated study. Each of the four foundations attributed to the Archbishop, l’Isle and Pleine-Selve (Gironde), Sablonceaux (Charente-Maritime), and Fontaine-le-Comte (Vienne), was subjected to a in depth architectural analysis, completed by a metrological study, to apprehend each building as a whole. The elements preserved from the XIIth century were then subjected to a comparative study. Moreover, a discussion is also conducted on the attribution to Geoffroy du Loroux of the rebuilding of the Cathedral of Bordeaux starting in the XIIth century. It turns out that the Foundations related to Geoffroy du Loroux adopt a stereotypical and ostensibly austere architectural party. The Archbishop appears as a prelate who intended to leave to his successors models to convey the message of the Gregorian reform, both through his sermons and its foundations. The latter had to be representative of the great humility and return to the rigour advocated by the reform, in contrast with the pomp of Cluny. This work brings into question the role of canon communities as a dissemination tool for the reform, which could account for the slowdown of the implementation of Cluny in the region of Bordeaux.

Mise en oeuvre, modélisation et comparaison de trois systèmes d'amplification de puissance sous vide utilisant des plasmas sous striction magnétique.Huet, Dominique 05 July 2004 (has links) (PDF)

Decolonising Literature : Exclusionary Practices and Writing to Resist/Re-ExistJohansson, Stephanie January 2018 (has links)
This thesis examines elements of the conceptualization of literature within literary studies and literary production in a UK context, considering the concept of exclusionary practices based on the negligence of intersectional categories of identity such as race, gender, class, sexuality, etc., in the practice of understanding and interpreting literature. The methodologies I employ are close reading of various narratives, such as literary texts, as well as a narrative analysis aimed at a holistic understanding of my material. The second part of this thesis envisions a decolonised approach to literature in which we situate our positionalities when we read and interpret literary works. I demonstrate this through the analysis of several poems, informed by decolonial concepts and sensibilities. The results show that the maintenance of these exclusionary practices advances a grand-narrative of Western civilisation, ignoring the multiple sites people inhabit both from within, and outside, the West and that these practices are effectively harmful. I argue that through the project of decolonising literature there is a possibility of disrupting the perpetual macro-narrative of Western domination and universality.

"Společná pokladna" pražské kapituly v 2. polovině 14. a na počátku 15. století / "Communal treasury" of the Prague Cathedral Chapter at the turn of the 14th and 15th CenturiesMaříková, Martina January 2014 (has links)
The PhD thesis concerns the managment of so called communal treasury inside the Prague cathedral chapter. Its purpose was to provide cathedral clergy who was in residence and took part in the services with the additional payment (distributions). The study is based on a unique collection of account records from the years 1358-1418 which were kept by administrators of this section of the chapter economy. Beside a description and characteristics of the preserved account books, special attention is paid to the three particular points related to the role of finances in the everyday operation of the Prague chapter and in the life of its members: 1. administration of various types of possessions belonging to the Prague chapter, followed by comparison with the ways the administration was carried out in England, Germany and Poland; 2. Form and amount of emoluments of various groupes of cathedral clergy; 3. Link between amount of additional payment and the number of canons in residence. An integral part of PhD thesis is a transcription of the researched account books, name and local index and several tabular surveys of the income and expenses of communal teasury. Exhortatio ad canonicos regulares de vicio proprietatis: řeholníci a majetek v pozdním středověku / Exhortatio ad canonicos regulares de vicio proprietatis: regular canons and property in late MIddle AgesStrnadová, Kristýna January 2017 (has links)
This thesis encompasses an edition of the text Exhortatio ad canonicos regulares de vitio proprietatis, contained in manuscript III D 16 from the National library of the Czech Republic in Prague, which was formerly in possession of the monastery library of regular canons in Roudnice nad Labem. The edition is based on eight manuscripts, and a second edition of a parallel text has been created from another two manuscripts. The thesis includes a description of the manuscripts, a textual analysis examining the text's origin and its connection with other tracts about property of the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, particularly the works by Henry of Langenstein, as well as a translation of the tract into Czech.
