A Study of Car Body Effects on the Performance of Vehicle AntennasLin, Meng-yi 29 December 2004 (has links)
In this study, we establish a car body PEC model by using a NEC-2-based numerical software. Based on this model, we then carry out a series of simulations and analysis in the FM band concerning the effects of various car structures on antenna patterns. The results have been compared with those available in open literature in order to verify our model. The simulation results show that the roof support pillars significantly affect the antenna patterns. We investigate the ripples caused by the finite ground plane in the antenna patterns, and propose a new edge treatment technique. Our results indicate that a significant reduction of these unwanted ripples can be obtained, if the proposed technique is applied. The effect of car glasses and human body is also taken into consideration. At last, the issue of studying the effects at higher frequencies is addressed. Two approaches are used, including UTD, and PO. Satisfactory results are obtained.

Návrh designu vozu Mitsuoka Kit Car / Mitsuoka Kit Car DesignKratochvíl, Jaroslav January 2011 (has links)
A dissertation deals with small single-placed car body design (so-called microcar cathegory). The new design is based on the undercart and the engine of serial Mitsuoka Kit Car. Therefore the aim belongs to re-design tasks. Analytical part of the dissertation deals with two basic questions influencing the final draft. The Corporate identity at first and a problematic of the target group level of aesthetical perception linked to preferred design. On grounds of analysis the core values for new design have been set down. The particular values have been presented with the help of existing reference objects from the field of automotive design. This part also includes a questionnairy, which had been focused on prefered design conception. Due to low microcars topic awareness in Czech Republic, the questionnairy had informational character and the final design conception has been chosen on the base of functional aspects analysis. The final design development, shown on sketches and basic software renderings, is based on gradual steps that lead to the core values expression with regards to input parameters and basic design rules as well. The final design is introduced together with description of its technical solution and detailed design. The solution respects the mentioned target group and the institution Corporate Identity.

Multi-Functional Composite Design Concepts for Rail Vehicle Car BodiesWennberg, David January 2013 (has links)
Structures and material combinations, tailored for multiple purposes, are within the reach of vehicle manufacturers. Besides reducing the environmental impact of the transportation sector these multi-functional structures can reduce costs, such as development, manufacturing and maintenance, and at the same time offer improved comfort to the passengers. This thesis sets out to develop multi-functional design algorithms and evaluate concepts for future composite high speed train car bodies with the objective of optimising the amount of mass needed to fulfil all functions of the structure. In a first step complete composite car bodies were developed, optimised and evaluated based on global stiffness requirements and load cases. The knowledge gained in this step was used as requirements for the strength and stiffness of panels during the continued development of the multi-functional optimisation which, besides strength and stiffness, later also considers sound transmission, thermal insulation, geometric restrictions, manufacturability and fire safety. To be able to include fire safety in the analysis, a method for simulating the high temperature response of layered composite structures was needed, and developed. Significant weight reductions are proven when utilising carbon fibre in the load carrying structure of the vehicle, on component level as high as 60%. Structures can be made significantly thinner when using the algorithms developed in this thesis and wall thickness is reduced by 5-6 cm. Analysis carried out and extensive literature surveys also suggest significant cost savings in manufacturing, maintenance and use-phase, even thou the raw material cost can be significantly higher as compared to the conventional steel or aluminium alternatives. Results from drive cycle simulations showed that the benefit, with respect to reduced energy consumption, is in the range of 0.5-0.8% per reduced weight percentage, comparable to both automotive and air applications. The algorithms and methods established in this thesis can be directly applied for the development and analysis of future high speed train car bodies. /
QC 20130521

Konceptutveckling av solbilskaross / Concept development of solar car bodyMånsson, Emil, Helgesson, Tobias January 2020 (has links)
“Development of a solar car body” is a bachelor thesis done at Jönköping University by two students studying mechanical engineering with a focus on product development and design. The project has been done for JU Solar Team, an organization where student develop and build a solar powered electric car with which they then use in the competition Bridgestone World Solar Challenge. The body of the 2019 solar car is made from a carbon fiber monocoque which means that the body and chassis is made from one integrated component. This type of construction is both costly and complex and it has created a lot of trouble in the post processing of the body after it is received from the developer. The following report is explaining a conceptual development process of module-based body construction. The purpose is to simplify the development and allow for easier modification. Furthermore, the aim of the project has been to make it possible to move most of the production in-house at Jönköping University and show a concept that JU Solar Team can use in the development of upcoming solar car projects. Initially the project studied earlier CFD-simulations that has been made on the solar car from 2019 which was used as a basis for dividing the car into different modules. Since the aim was to make it possible to move the production in-house at Jönköping University it was deemed that 3D-printing was a plausible method for this, which the rest of the project was based upon. Conventional product development methods were then used to generate possible solutions that developed into a finished concept. Different types of methods for joining modules together have been explored which meet the defined criteria. Since a low weight that maximizes energy efficiency is essential when designing a car like this, a topology optimization process was used to study where material could be removed. This optimized construction was then verified by studying the static stress in the body, as well as comparing different materials based on weight, maximum stress and safety factors. The project resulted in a topologically optimized and module-based prototype where 30% of the original volume has been removed. The report ends with recommendations of materials and joining techniques as well as comments for further development of upcoming solar car projects.

Medieteknisk simulation inom utbildning.Pettersson, Gustav, Evertsson, Alexander January 2023 (has links)
