This thesis deals with the community schools in the Czech Republic and the possibilities of their development. Firstly, it defines basic concepts like community education in an international context and the notion of community schools itself. Secondly, it discusses certain theoretical assumptions and presuppositions as well as current challenges of development of the community schools. The research is based on a multiple case study and it describes the current situation of selected community schools. The current situation of the schools is compared to their situation and conditions six years ago. Basing on the diachronic comparison using the academic document "Analysis of environment in the Czech Republic and the possibility of the development of community schools" of 2008, the research revealed that community concepts in schools are almost unchanged. Finally, the work challenges possible causes of this stagnation of development. Its contribution is in addition to the design possibilities for further development of community schools in the Czech Republic. Further value added...

The aim of this thesis is to study the adaptation process in the intensive care units. The theoretical section analysed the adaptation process of nurses with particular focus on methodical instructions, legislation and other specific aspects of the adaptation process, including necessary education for the ICU nurses. The aim of the practical section was to examine, whether the adaptation processes are done properly and are long enough. We focused not only on the point of view of the management, but also on the feedback from the new employees. A survey was done among the employees of accredited and non-accredited healthcare facilities. By the evaluation of our data, we have managed to accept or deny various hypotheses that were included in our work. Our survey has shown that both executive nurses and new employees think the adaptation process usually proceeds correctly and thoroughly and they do not want to make any changes. Our data have also been used to compare adaptation processes of accredited and non-accredited healthcare facilities. Based on the data from our survey, we have been able to determine, that the adaptation process is significantly better at facilities which are accredited. On the contrary, the nurses working in non-accredited facilities are less satisfied and would welcome changes...

This graduation thesis is concerned with the question of change in the area of medical education in the Czech Republic. The main emphasis is on analyzing the system of lifelong study for general nurses, in both its current form and the one that is in preparation now. This research presents a summary of the findings on the educational system for nurses. The current methods were set by the Act 96/2004 Coll. law and subsequent changes and amendments thereof. A new law on non-medical professions has been prepared. Both of these documents are essential for the practical as well as theoretical part of the analysis. In the practical part empirical research was carried out in which the author sounds out the views of selected groups of respondents belonging to non-medical professions on the current and future form of the medical education for non-medical professionals.

World population is ageing and in Europe the situation is especially alarming. In the next two decades the ratio of people over 65 years of age is expected to double. This threatens long-term sustainability of welfare systems. The debate about future developments has been going on since the turn of the century. Based on this debate the European Union defined improving the inclusion of people over 50 as the main solution to this problem. The means to achieving this goal have been identified at the level of the labour market, disease prevention and lifelong learning. The specific instruments are: 1) increasing the participation of older workers in the labour market by increasing retirement age, introducing penalties for early retirement, promoting retraining of older and increasing retraining efficiency, 2) restructuring of pension systems and provision of social services and 3) strengthening participation of older people in society, applying the principles of active aging at all levels of social life and increasing the quality and variety of lifelong learning opportunities. I am making research investigation through interviews with adults with mental disabilities in this institution. The thesis deals with an actual topic which must be solved in connection with promotion of lifelong learning principle in educational policy and with the need of systematic support for head teachers such as education and development throughout their career. At this time the role of school leader is changing as a consequence of changing environment dependency. Therefore it seems to be necessary that school managements identify themselves with the ideas of lifelong learning. Research of this study is oriented in the same sense. Its main goal is to chart the actual state of attention which is paid by kindergarten leaders of the Plzeň Region to their professional development. The final study is elaborated in the context of human capital values increase as a tool for adaptation to changes brought by the contemporary world. The thesis flows from the studied theory, information got by a survey and the author's own experience, too. It brings an outline, how kindergarten directors in the Plzeň Region do perceive the actual development and educational support in the relation to managing all phases of their career, and it indicates that weaknesses remain in the professional head teachers' development and the development of school leaders itself is not conceived as a system.

This thesis deals with the specifics of the lifelong education of persons with mental disabilities. The work consists of theoretical and practical parts. Thesis is mainly based on professional literature, laws and regulations Czech Republic and Internet resources. The first chapter deals with the explaning of the concept of mental retardation, its classification, etiology, and psychological traits of these people. The second chapter describes the system of education people with mental disability in the Czech Republic and activities of special education centers and of early care centers. The next chapter is devoted to lifelong learning, Chapter describes general lifelong learning and lifelong learning of people with mental disability, brief history of lifelong education of persons with mental disabilities in the Czech Republic and didactic principles of education for this group and example of this education are also describe in this chapter. Fourth part deals with empirical research. Research is about learning opportunities of adults with mental disabilities in the regional capital Liberec.

The aim of this thesis is to answer the following question: "Are school headmasters in different European countries comparable?" The author deals with the subject of further training of school headmasteres in the Czech Republic, the Federal Republic of Germany (Bavaria and North Rhine - Westphalia) and Scotland. With the help of selected research methods which were a questionnaire and interviews with headmasters he is trying to report on the opportunities of their further training in selected countries. The author finds out that further training of headmasters focuses primarily on managerial and vocational training. The necessity of further qualification of executives arises from the fact that nowadays headmasters have to meet a wide range of requirements in terms of their competence which they receive through good specialised training. The information obtained can serve as a model or methodological recommendation as in each country the managerial training follows different qualifying models.
