Invisible Children : A Field Study on the Hindrances to Obtain a Birth Certificate in Nusa Tenggara Timur, Indonesia

Lindblad, Elin January 2016 (has links)
A birth certificate provides a child with a legal identity, nationality, is a vital action towards child protection and can help a child access social welfare. Worldwide, almost 230 million children under the age of five have not been registered. Other than the vast negative impacts on the child it creates a blind spot in population statistics. Indonesia is one of the countries where the problem is widespread - only 57 percent of the children under the age of five have a birth certificate. In December 2013 a law was ratified in Indonesia, imposing changes in the birth registration process. This paper seeks to explore how the target group of that law, i.e. parents, perceive their possibility to comply with the policy, that is, to obtain a birth certificate for their children.  Based on a field study in Nusa Tenggara Timur, Indonesia, conducting in-depth interviews with 58 parents as well as stakeholders such as policy implementers and NGOs, this thesis will propose that there is a variance in how the policy has been implemented in different regencies. The results indicate that the variance in the implementation, as well as the policy setting prior implementation in each regency, affects the parents’ perceived possibility to comply. In one of the studied regencies the implementation of the policy has affected the parents’ possibility to comply in a critically negative way, increasing the hindrances to obtain a birth certificate. Further, the regency politicians have created forced incentives to comply by making birth certificate mandatory to register for school, creating a vast risk of removing childrens’ access to education.

‘n Analise van oordragdinamiek, leerfasilitering en praktyk in ‘n Nagraadse Sertifikaat in Hoër Onderwys (Afrikaans)

Heyns, Marilein 10 September 2007 (has links)
The aim of this study explicates both the dynamics in theoretical and practical perspectives of novice and experienced practitioners on the effects of a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education. This programme is designed and developed with the dual purposes to empower higher education, training, and development practitioners to facilitate learning in an innovative way and to ensure transfer of learning. Following the global critique on the lack of training of novice practitioners, the lack of training of experienced practitioners; quality teaching and learning in higher education, improvement and reform of teaching in higher education, and transfer as “an ultimate goal that has thus far proved elusive” (Pedersen&Liu 2003:313), the enquiry exposed key results and insights into the programme, transfer, and higher education. Quantitative data from seven case studies enhanced holistic understanding sprouting from internal and external influences on learners in comparrison to the teoretical paradigm and outcomes set by the programme. This paradigm nutures factors driving transfer, innovative teaching strategies and approaces employed by the programme and South African educational system. The study substantiated transferred professional and personal development and ideological change attributing to competence as three major findings. This study therefore suggests that it is possible to attribute current competence, knowledge, facilitating skills, attitudes, and values to the programme as initial learning provider. The greatest inhibitor to transfer appeared to be a deification of traditional forms of education agains the modern paradigm as well as insificient cencern with a substantial knowledge base and facilitating skills. Recommendations includes modelling of principles of approaches to teaching and learning regarding OBE, learner-centrered, adult learning, the accomodation of learning style and integration of “multiple layers of meaning and experience rather than defining human possibilities narrowly” (Miller 2003). The findings and recommendations constitute greater attention to the facilitators of learning’s ways of knowing in the classroom as critical to supporting adult learning and growth. The study employed a lens through which learning and teaching experiences are and could be filtered, given developmentally appropriate supports and challenges to enhance facilitating skills and competencies to meet the demands of the changing nature of work and learning. Therefore, turning to a specific alternative (and surely not flawless) application of the messages carried by interpretation of theory transferred to the art of teaching and training practices, this study portrays the broader concept of symbolic inversion and transgression. The study becomes the variety of facts and figures, of form and future in the wholeness and limitations of being, belonging and seeing in higher education. The interior translation of the inputs and process of a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education by the facilitators of learning who participated in this programme hold the multiple ways of more sustained and more profound effect in their teaching practice, translating learning into the real and living world. / Thesis (PhD (Curriculum Studies))--University of Pretoria, 2007. / Curriculum Studies / PhD / unrestricted

Gren, Amanda January 2020 (has links)
The housing and service sector accounts for the largest energy consumption, 40 % in Sweden followed by the industrial and transport sectors. The Swedish Parliament has established a climate policy framework from the energy agreement, including the goal of energy use being 50 % more efficient by 2030, compared to 2005, expressed in terms of energy input in relation to GDP. There are great savings opportunities to obtain in housing, and to make a difference knowledge must be disseminated to both property owners and private individuals. This project is part of the Energikontor Norr project "Stratus", which works to support 12 municipalities in Norrbotten County, by strategically working towards finding an effective and successful way to achieve the national energy and climate goals adapted to the respective municipalities' conditions.   The purpose of the project has been to identify the need / potential for energy efficiency in various existing buildings in all the 14 municipalities in Norrbotten County through analysis and processing of data from energy performance certificates (EPC’s), surveying and literature. The building stock has been categorized into four categories: “one- and two-dwelling houses”, “apartment buildings”, “local- and special buildings” and “local buildings”. The result shows an energy-declared building stock where 80 % of the buildings have an energy class between D-G, where a large proportion of the stock is built in the 60-80s, hence in need of renovation to reduce the energy consumption.   The building stock that does not have an EPC is mainly complementary buildings, that do not even need an EPC, followed by housing, where detached houses belong to the largest proportion.   The greatest savings potential based on policy proposal can be found in the “local and special buildings”, followed by “local buildings” according to the EPC’s. An estimated saving potential for energy use in the entire county of Norrbotten, based on policy proposal proposed by the EPC’s, turns out to be 1.65 TWh, most likely much larger than that. Examples of common policy proposal are "insulate roofs" and "replacement / installation of heat pump" for all building categories together.   A forecast for the energy performance (kWh/m2 and year) until 2030 shows a decrease of approximately 36% from 2009 when the first EPC’s in the Norrbotten was made. This indicates that energy performance is on the right track and the potential for reducing energy use in our homes is there, but will not come by itself, there is still a great need of renovation and policy proposal in the building stock.

González Torres, Romy, Mendoza Ureta, Fiorella Cristina, Podesta Chuquisengo, Denisse Angelica 08 1900 (has links)
In the present research work, a Business Plan is made to propose the construction and commercialization of 35 departments that make up a multifamily housing, distributed over 7 floors and social areas. The project will be built under a concept that incorporates environmental sustainability criteria named Mivivienda Verde promoted by the peruvian state in response to the deficit of housing in Lima Metropolitana and the environmental impact as a result of man's actions. The project will be executed on a 575.68 m2 plot located in the Recaudadores Urbanization of the district of Ate. Currently, there is a growing trend in the market in granting credits through the Fund Mivivienda, Techo propio and Mivivienda Verde programs. Mivivienda Verde Fund has shown an increasing demand and dynamism in the real estate sector with 45% of the bonds placed between banks and financiers only at the beginning of 2019. The benefits generated by these eco-sustainable projects such as (i) savings of up to 30% in monthly consumption of water and electricity, (ii) lower monthly payment for credit (iii) and promotion of sustainability criteria by the| proper use of resources over time is part of the dynamism of the sector since the end of 2018 and, in response to this trend, the company Acrecer SAC has identified this market opportunity and offers to its clients the construction of a project of 35 departments under this concept, with high quality finishes in its design and construction and a post-sale service to address your doubts or needs, which makes them the pioneers in the execution of a real estate project under the concept of sustainability in the Recaudadores Urbanization in the district of Ate. For the development of this business idea and achieve the justification of the project, as well as its validation, three sources of data collection were used, described in interviews with experts, surveys to the target public and construction and real estate companies through the sounding technique. The gathering of information is applied within a radius of action of the location of the project, the surroundings of the Recaudadores urbanization in the district of Ate, as well as the ExpoUrbania 2019 real estate fair held at the Jockey Plaza Shopping Center in the district of Surco. The results obtained lead us to confirm that our project is not only desirable, but also feasible and profitable, given that, We obtain validity and the viability of the project is ratified by means of economic indicators described in the Current Value criteria Net and the Internal Rate of Return, after incorporating the weighted average discount rate of the financing sources, which incorporates the risks not only of the project but also of the construction sector. Finally; as a final conclusion, after determining the viability of the real estate project, the existence of a niche market in the construction sector as an investment alternative is confirmed. / Tesis
