The Swedish society is characterized by an increasingly extensive criminality. Research shows that the possibility of earning a living through work is something that reduces the risk of committing criminal acts, but despite this, there are difficulties for ex-criminals regarding the possibility of obtaining a job. The purpose of the study is to increase understanding of the work with ex-criminals' transition from crime to employment and how a career guidance counselor can respond to the target group in a beneficial way. The study aims to answer which factors in ex-criminals' transition from crime to employment may be beneficial for career guidance counselors to know, as well as how career guidance counselors with knowledge of these factors can promote ex-criminals' transition. In order to investigate ex-criminals' transition from crime to employment, we have chosen to use a qualitative method with semi-structured interviews. The selection consists of six professionals who work with ex-criminals in various ways. The results of the study show that ex-criminals' low self-esteem and insecurities regarding managing a job on the regular labor market are central factors in the transition from crime to employment. For career guidance counselors, a significant part of the work with ex-criminals involves increasing their motivation to achieve the goal of a job. It is about building up the individuals' self-esteem and countering their insecurities.

No / There is considerable concern that patient involvement within health care research is tokenistic in nature. This has led to an increasing interest in the quality of patient involvement in research with active collaboration with patients and carers encouraged. In this paper, with specific reference to renal disease, the aim was to identify and explore the possible challenges that may arise from academic researchers collaborating with clinicians, patients and carers as part of the same project panel. The project panel consisted of the principal investigator, senior research fellow, research practitioner, a nephrology consultant, a cultural liaison officer, pre-dialysis, dialysis and transplant patients and also a carer. Semi-structured qualitative interviews were conducted with members of the panel. The main challenges identified included: ensuring the panel included patients from different modalities of renal disease and different social and cultural s, managing member expectations, conducting meetings, communication, financial constraints and patient anxiety. Enablers of the collaborative process were found to be: relevance to the research project, early involvement, previous experience with research, panel composition and flexibility. The study has clear practical implications for collaborative involvement of patients and carers in social and health care research.

Yes / To identify challenges faced by dental interns in the workforce and to suggest Pacific Island Countries (PIC) on further research in this area.
Materials and Methods: A comprehensive search of Medline, Embase, Scopus and ProQuest databases was conducted using relevant keywords. All studies, published from 1st January 2000 to 31st January 2021, were taken into consideration. Removal of duplicates and screening the full-text articles using eligibility criteria were used to finalise the number of articles. The significant findings and conclusions were extracted and grouped under themes.
Results: A total of 16 studies met the inclusion criteria, involving dental interns, medical interns, postgraduate and undergraduate. Five themes were identified as the main challenges faced by dental interns in the workplace including workplace bullying, handling medical emergencies, community placement, lack of interdisciplinary approach and poor record keeping.
Conclusion: There is a need for PIC to conduct research and surveys, to identify the challenges its dental interns may be facing. This will create an ideal foundation from which strategies and initiatives can be implemented and enforced in the dental internship programme. Ensuring that oral health services are delivered efficiently and oral status of the Pacific is not compromised.

Yes / Reviewing factors that affect work challenges is crucial for any organization as it has an impact of organizational commitment for a better service delivery and job satisfaction. This study aimed to explore the perceptions of dental health professionals (DHPs) on work challenges and the impact it has on job satisfaction in Fiji. Materials and Methods: A descriptive, qualitative method approach (nationwide) was done commencing from August to November, 2021. DHPs who provide prosthetic services in Fiji were selected using purposive selection located at Nakasi Dental Clinic, Lautoka Dental Clinic, Labasa Dental Clinic, and Fiji National University. A total of 29 DHPs participated in the in-depth interview, and the responses were grouped into nine themes: working conditions, the location of practice, equipment and material, a lack of specialization, service delivery, organizational support, remuneration, career development, and promotions. A semi-structured open-ended questionnaire in the form of an interview via a virtual platform—Zoom was used for data collection. Thematic analysis was used to transcribe and analyze the audio recordings. Results: The findings from the study indicated that factors such as working conditions, the location of practice, equipment and material, a lack of specialization, service delivery, organizational support, remuneration, career development, and promotions were associated with work challenges. Conclusion: Gaps and areas for the improvement of work challenges and its impact on job satisfaction were identified for DHPs who provide prosthetic services in Fiji such as a need for more career and professional development pathways, improved infrastructure to support prosthetic service delivery, and better remuneration.

In recent years projects have increasingly used Last Planner System (LPS) in
building construction. However project managers still struggle with figuring out how the
LPS could be applied on their specific projects. One main reason for this struggle is that
explicit instructions for systematically applying LPS are not available. This thesis offers
practitioners and researchers an account of LPS implementation challenges and an
indication of how LPS can be applied. The thesis qualitatively aggregates the results of
26 test case projects of LPS applications to show researchers and practitioners reasons
why LPS was applied, what benefits were realized and what challenges were found
during the implementation. Senior and mid-level managers in AEC industry were
surveyed to assess the implementation challenges that they encountered. The main
findings of this analysis are; (1) that practitioners have used LPS for the purpose of
making plans more reliable, (2) get smooth work flow (3) improve productivity. The
survey findings imply that improvements in LPS implementation strategies can be made
which will facilitate LPS adoption by the industry. The findings of this thesis suggest
that further research on the integration of LPS into work and business processes of project teams is needed to further the widespread use of LPS throughout the building
industry.

Recent technological, social, and economic trends and transformations are contributing to the production of what is usually referred to as Big Data. Big Data, which is typically defined by four dimensions -- Volume, Velocity, Veracity, and Variety -- changes the methods and tactics for using, analyzing, and interpreting data, requiring new approaches for data provenance, data processing, data analysis and modeling, and knowledge representation. The use and analysis of Big Data involves several distinct stages from "data acquisition and recording" over "information extraction" and "data integration" to "data modeling and analysis" and "interpretation", each of which introduces challenges that need to be addressed. There also are cross-cutting challenges, which are common challenges that underlie many, sometimes all, of the stages of the data analysis pipeline. These relate to "heterogeneity", "uncertainty", "scale", "timeliness", "privacy" and "human interaction". Using the Big Data analysis pipeline as a guiding framework, this paper examines the challenges arising in the use of Big Data in regional science. Reactive remote leadership - In disruptive times.Bazancir, Bejna, Österberg, Jennie January 2021 (has links)
The worldwide Covid-19 pandemic caused lockdowns in countries across the globe and forced organizations to conduct remote work solutions, contributing for challenges to arise. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate main challenges related to remote leadership caused by external disruptions. Further, this study has conceptualized remote work conditions and distinguishes between remote leadership derived from proactive changes and reactive changes to create the concept of “proactive remote leadership” and “reactive remote leadership”. A qualitative and exploratory method was applied through semi structured interviews, with nine managers at a global organization named Leaseplan. The empirical findings from the data collection discovered noticeable differences in challenges between the two remote leadership concepts. Main challenges found within reactive remote leadership which had not been highlighted in previous studies focusing on remote leadership were organizational silos, information sharing, transparency, workload, employee wellbeing and motivation. The findings suggest that it is important for both scholars and managers to put context to leadership to find nuanced challenges but also opportunities.

Breaking the Ceiling : An Explorative Study on Challenges for Women in IntrapreneurshipChristerson, Sofia, Winkelhorst, Lynn January 2023 (has links)
That women experience different and even more challenges within the corporate environment than men do is no news. For female entrepreneurs, the challenges they experience entering the entrepreneurial setting have been and are still being researched. Studies show that specifically female entrepreneurs face challenges such as balancing work and family, lack of networks, and creating credibility and legitimacy. However, how these challenges differ for women who innovate within companies in an intrapreneurial setting is a subject that needs more research. To explore and further understand these challenges a qualitative study has been executed with semi-structured interviews of female intrapreneurs. The findings of this study reveal that there seems to be a similarity between the challenges that female entrepreneurs and female intrapreneurs experience. These challenges were balancing work and family/social life, the glass ceiling phenomenon, creating internal credibility and legitimacy, and networking. However, it also shows that there are some perceived differences and challenges, namely, external credibility and legitimacy, raising funding, and policies applied differently to female intrapreneurs. Lastly, two unique challenges were found for females in intrapreneurship, namely, the company culture and the lack of role models. Moreover, a pattern that repeatedly came up was empowerment among women, which might not necessarily be viewed as a challenge. These findings give a reasonable indication of the challenges for women in intrapreneurship and help give direction for future research within this field.

The adoption of eHealth is very slow despite evidences showing its benefits. This research examines the individual, clinical, technical and organizational challenges for eHealth adoption from healthcare provider‟s perspectives. A cross-sectional study design with a quantitative paradigm was used. The study was conducted on 312 doctors and nurses randomly selected from ten hospitals in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Most respondents viewed eHealth positively with no significant differences in terms of profession or gender. Computer skill, workload, patient interaction, management support, cost and infrastructure were the main concerns. Privacy and security were not the main concerns. Knowledge of eHealth applications and utilization was low, even for evidence-based medicine and online databases. Specialists and males were better aware of eHealth applications. The study showed that eHealth acceptance was good. Increasing eHealth literacy was recommended as a cost effective means for improving access to updated information to improve the quality of healthcare. / Health Studies / M.A. (Public Health (Medical Informatics))

A substantial amount of IT projects fail or stay challenged in meeting their targets based on project schedule, budget and system requirements. Leading global surveys in the last decade barely indicate any improvement in the statistical performance of IT projects in spite of the fact that a lot of effort has been taken in the past to identify and fix those critical factors on which the success and failure of IT projects are generally based on. The poor trend and the underperformance of IT projects still continue. Different researches based on different approaches identify different critical factors but to a very large extent people and processes are blamed. This thesis is under taken to understand the impact of Information Systems (IS) processes and methodologies in the success and failure of IT projects. Major challenges within IS processes, such as their initial identification, implementation and organizational process awareness are identified through qualitative research methods. ‘Identification and selection of IS process and methodologies’ is identified as a major challenge within IT projects and is discussed in detail as, why and what difficulties organizations face in the process of selecting processes and methodologies on a given IT project. A couple of methodology selection frameworks to overcome these difficulties are presented along side with their critical review and improvement. We come to a conclusion that there is a growing need for more efficient and competent methodology selection frameworks as the ones which exist today are barely complete and efficient and if they do then only to a limited and partial degree.
