Produktivita odbavení zákazníka v retailu / Productivity of checkout of customers in retail industryVaník, Karel January 2011 (has links)
This work deals with the logistics processes in the retail chain. The theoretical part describes the development and current state of logistics chains in delivering of the goods from the suppliers to the store shelves. The practical part of this work tries to use the application of the principles of logistics to movement of customers in the store space. Among the methods used belongs the study and application of literature, mainly foreign. The thesis also discusses checkout of customer. The analysis is based on data provided by one specific retailer. At the end of the practical part, the author attempts to draft the proposals enabling the company the improvement of the productivity of checkout and also describes possible changes in metrics that measure the productivity. The aim is to map productivity measurement of checkout of customers in the retail chain and suggest improvements. The second goal of this thesis is to try to prove that logistics is not standing outside the rest of functional departments of the company (neither above them nor below them) and should therefore cooperate very closely with these departments.

Universal design of a future grocery retail checkstandVargas, Camilo A. 11 July 2008 (has links)
This project is part of CATEA's RERC workplace accommodations grant, and it d research, develop, test and evaluate a retail checkout workstation that maximizes independence and participation of employees and increases their employment possibilities. Preliminary research shows that current designs of retail checkout workstations do not accommodate the intended employees including the seated and standing users. According to the research, factors like task design and ease of use have contributed to job loss and reduced employment. Through participatory research techniques and ergonomic studies, this project identified accessibility and usability needs and outline design guidelines of a retail workstation that would address these needs. Based on these guidelines and examining possible future retail checkout scenarios influenced by new trends and emerging technologies, future grocery retail checkout concepts were developed. These concepts try to address the need for wider accessibility and better interactions, while adding value through design that aims to increase job opportunities for people with disabilities provide a better experience for the end users and maximize store investment efficiency of front-end equipment.

Tech Savvy Shoppers : A quantitative study of how Generation Z perceive self-service technology in the fashion retail sectorKraft, Olivia, Jansson, Felicia, Appelquist, Wilma January 2023 (has links)
Fashion retail stores are one of the settings where technology innovation is implemented to make the in-store experience more efficient than before. One of the innovations that are becoming increasingly common is self-service checkouts. Generation Z is the upcoming and new buying force for the retailers to target and this is what has been the foundation for the orientation of this thesis. The purpose of the research has been to examine factors that influence Generation Z usage of self-service checkouts in fashion retail stores in Sweden. In order to investigate this, the authors developed six hypotheses from previous research about convenience, time efficiency, attitude towards technology, subjective norms, interaction avoidance and fear of failure. The primary data presented in the chapter for empirical findings were gained through a questionnaire where 384 respondents participated. The data was analyzed in the statistical software program SPSS in order to test the hypotheses. The findings were presented in the analysis chapter where it also was discussed with the literature to be able to identify if there were any similarities or differences. The conclusion of this thesis shows that there are different factors that are influencing Generation Z to use self-service checkouts in fashion retail stores. Convenience emerges as the strongest influencing factor, while fear of failure holds the least influence on Generation Z's intention to utilize self-service checkouts. These findings aim to assist fashion retail companies in understanding the critical considerations when implementing self-service checkouts in-store.

Designing and implementing a system for automating the Java project analysis processYan, Zheng January 2008 (has links)
<p>A process for the analysis and collection of information of software systems has been defined. It extracts relevant information of project source files from an online repository and stores that meta-information in a database for further processing. Then, according to the meta-information in the database, it downloads the source files and writes the feedback information back to the database as well. Now the data can be used as input for various analysis tools, in our case a tool called VizzAnalyzer, which reads the project source code and performs a series of software quality analyses.</p><p>But actually, the process, which is mentioned above needs, a lot of manual work, makes the work inefficient and the analysis of large numbers of projects impossible.</p><p>Thus, a series of thesis projects has been devised to automate the whole process. This thesis aims at automating the information extraction and source file download work, which will make the latter preparation of the analysis task much easier and more efficient.</p>

But actually, the process, which is mentioned above needs, a lot of manual work, makes the work inefficient and the analysis of large numbers of projects impossible. Thus, a series of thesis projects has been devised to automate the whole process. This thesis aims at automating the information extraction and source file download work, which will make the latter preparation of the analysis task much easier and more efficient.

The Worst Part of Shopping? A study on how emotional design can affect customers in the checkout experiences of online shoppingJohnson, Johanna January 2018 (has links)
Emotions are taking part in our everyday lives even if we are aware of it ornot. It helps us behave and to decide when we have to make decisions. A fieldone does not often associate with emotions is “serious” programmes. We liketo think that serious programmes have to remain serious. Because of that, thisis also a field where designers not often think about adding emotional designelements. This bachelor project became an explorative project whereinvestigations on emotions in online checkouts, which I chose to defineserious programme as, were conducted. The results showed that there areemotions present in the checkout, it could thus be difficult to point them out.Provocative experiments were also made to be able to discover theexperienced emotions in the checkout which one does not often think about. It showed that adding emotional design elements in the checkout can influencecustomers and their behaviour to a certain extent and that there are emotionscustomers try to avoid.
