Os recursos linguísticos no projeto de desliteraturização de Monteiro Lobato : discutindo a obra fábulas /

Rocha, Michele Saionara Aparecida Lopes de Lima. January 2015 (has links)
The research presented is a retelling of the book Fábulas, while the objective is to discuss the Monteiro Lobato's project of desliteraturização in children literature and raise the linguistic features present in the work that may characterize this project. Literature in the landscape: designing public parks to encourage outdoor exploration, activity and reading for elementary school-aged children

Rose, Katelyn January 1900 (has links)
Master of Landscape Architecture / Department of Landscape Architecture/Regional and Community Planning / Anne E. Beamish / Landscape architects have an opportunity to design outdoor environments that promote exploration and physical activity for elementary school students in an effort to combat childhood obesity and nature deficit disorder, while reinforcing the importance of reading. By layering themes from classic children’s literature into the landscape surrounding the Andover Public Library, a landscape was designed where children can explore physically and intellectually while being active in the outdoor environment. Research has identified the importance and benefits of outdoor exploration, activity and reading for elementary school students. Interviewing teachers and librarians about classic children’s literature and how they commonly use it helped inform my research efforts in choosing timeless and well-known pieces of children’s literature. Completing a site inventory and analysis of Andover Central Park, which surrounds the Andover Public Library, informed my site design process. The intent of my site design is to explore ways of incorporating children’s literature into a play landscape that provides opportunity for exploration and physical activity in nature.

Lewis, Katherine January 1947 (has links)
The writer's purpose in this study has been to make a thorough investigation of the Newbery Medal books to determine if they represent the best literature suitable for children's reading that has been published since 1922, and to investigate carefully the group as a whole to see if the books possess those rare qualities and characteristics which, deservedly, would set them apart from the ordinary type of books usually designated as suitable for children's reading.

The Sunday-school movement and its influence on children's literature

Unknown Date (has links)
"The purpose of this paper is to trace the origin and progress of the Sunday-school movement and its influence on the development of children's literature. The procedure followed in this paper has been to identify, read and analyze all available material on the subject of the Sunday-school movement--its origin, its founder, Robert Raikes, and its progress in England and America. The authors who wrote for children during this period were studied carefully--their backgrounds and lives and their interests in the movement. Lastly, all available children's books written by these authors were read or examined critically"--Introduction. / Typescript. / "August, 1953." / "Submitted to the Graduate Council of Florida State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science." / Advisor: Agnes Gregory, Professor Directing Paper. / Includes bibliographical references (leaves 80-82).

Armstrong Sperry: Juvenile fiction writer

Unknown Date (has links)
"All of these qualities are readily apparent in Call It Courage, the book which won for Sperry the 1941 Newbery Medal for the most distinguished contribution to children's literature in the year of its publication. It was appreciation of this book and curiosity about its background that led the writer of this paper to select Armstrong Sperry and his writing as her subject. The writer should, perhaps, have begun with an investigation of biographical sources. If she had done so, she would have discovered gaps in information and would have gotten in contact with Sperry himself sooner. Also a knowledge of the experiences connected with each book must surely have added to her enjoyment in reading it. However, that was not the procedure used. Having established through standard bibliographies what books Sperry had written, the writer read them in haphazard order. After consulting the available biographical material, she wrote Armstrong Sperry in care of his most recent publisher, Winston in Philadelphia. In a most cordial reply, which arrived only five days later, Sperry answered her questions about his life, the source of his background materials for recent books, and his work in progress. He added several interesting paragraphs giving his philosophy of writing. Mr. Sperry's letter added greatly to the information gathered from other sources. The first chapter of this paper presents the salient facts of Sperry's life"--Introduction. / Carbon copy of typescript. / "August, 1959." / "Submitted to the Graduate School of Florida State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science." / Advisor: Sarah Rebecca Reed, Professor Directing Paper. / Includes annotated list of Sperry's works. / Includes bibliographical references.

Eleanor Estes: A bio-bibliographical study

Unknown Date (has links)
"In view of the contribution she has made to the field of children's literature and the distinction she has achieved in being awarded the Newbery Medal for one of her books, Eleanor Estes has been chosen as the subject for this study. The purpose is to discover the pertinent and interesting facts of her life and to analyze the reaction to her works in the reviews and criticism. The procedure in compiling data for this study was to read all of Mrs. Estes' books and to study all available articles and reviews that have appeared in current books and periodicals. An appeal was made to Mrs. Estes to supply certain data concerning her life during the last few years. She most graciously responded with interesting and informative letters"--Introduction. / Carbon copy of typescript. / "August, 1958." / "Submitted to the Graduate Council of Florida State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science." / Advisor: Agnes Gregory, Professor Directing Paper. / Includes bibliographical references (leaves 33-38).

Contributions of Elizabeth Yates to children's and young people's literature

Unknown Date (has links)
"The purpose of this paper is to give a brief sketch of the life of Elizabeth Yates, bringing out those incidents and experiences that affected her professional career; to summarize the contemporary criticism of her work as to her ability as an author for children and young people; and to assemble a bibliography of her contributions to literature. Miss Yates has written thirty books for children and young people, all of which are listed in the bibliography at the end of the paper. As the books cover such a wide age range in appeal and vocabulary, it was decided to limit the study to those books intended for ages ten through eighteeen, omitting those publications for children of the primary grades and those for adults"--Introduction. / Carbon copy of typescript. / "August, 1957." / "Submitted to the Graduate Council of Florida State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science." / Includes bibliographical references.
