Socialarbetarens emotioner och förhållningssätt : En studie om klienters hot och/eller våld mot yrkesverksamma socialarbetare inom offentlig sektor / Social workers' emotions and approaches : A study about client threats and violence within the public sector

Saleh, Alice January 2021 (has links)
Using a systematic literature review, this study aims to compile and review previous international research on the emotional impacts and approaches resulted from social workers' exposure to client violence- and threats within the public sector. The awareness of, and academic interest in, social workers’ exposure to violence and threats of many kinds are growing, particularly because employees are experiencing increased psychological distress. A series of research studies conducted by one or other of the authors, emphasizes that social workers in the public sector frequently experience psychological and emotional impact from exposure to workplace violence caused by clients. In their line of work, it’s known to the clients that social workers hold authority in decisions regarding resources and service. Therefore, clients may view social workers not as people who only work for the agencies providing service and resources, but as representatives for these agencies. While Michael Lipsky's theory of street-level bureaucracy is justifying clients' view of social workers as representatives with authority, Åsa Wettergrens is proving a diversity of emotional strategies to manage the situation at hand. With the gathering of eight articles, results showed that emotions such as fear, anger, frustration, guilt and powerlessness were the most frequent ones expressed by social workers. Eventually, social workers developed strategies to manage their own emotions so that they wouldn't interfere with their work. Some social workers convinced themselves to view the clients as people in need of help and not as aggressive individuals, others sought help from their colleagues. Many social workers accepted client's violence and/or threats as a part of their daily job, as there is an ongoing requirement to tolerate its presence, while others decided to distance themselves from the clients.

SDL model pro Source Specific Multicast / SDL model for Source Specific Multicast

Záň, Stanislav January 2008 (has links)
This work deals with questions of IP net communication, with using metod Source-Specific Multicast. It focused on questions of registration, unregistration and administration of clients in multicast group and IGMP protocol, which is made for this communication. Work deals also about problems of signalization between source of data and clients of multicast group. In the introduction of this work questions of communications in multicast are analyse. I tis followed by the chapter focused on the specific metod of multicast – Source Specific Multicast (SSM). Next chapter is based on the protocols in SSM, which are used for distribution of data stream in source to clients direction and also in the reverse direction. The net chapter deals with signalization of communication in SSM. It specializes for reflection and summarization metods, which are used here. This chapter also shows basic matematics formules for sending signalization packets and proposes other solutions and ways for simplify communication and minimalize delay, which is for signallization very important. After that, the work deals with differences between these two metods of signalization. The aplicationis builded in practical part of work from the knowlidge of theory from previous chapters and it simulates the real communication between data source and clients situated to multicast group. This communication is explained in MSC diagrams. The aplication also simulates both used metods of signalization and real count of cients in multicast group. The results of simulation are interpreted in the last part of work.

Modelování pokročilých funkcí technologie 802.11e v prostředí OPENT Modeler / Modelling of advanced 802.11e technology features in OPNET Modeler environment

Šeliga, Michal January 2009 (has links)
This master thesis includes a short review of the structure of WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) technologies 802.11a/b/g, the description of their physical interface and the description of the basic medium access control mechanisms implementing the PCF (Point Coordination Function) and DCF (Distributed Coordination Function) methods. I mainly focused on the detailed evaluation the new 802.11e standard which was designed to efficiently support real-time services in wireless environment. To provide QoS (Quality of Service) support, this standard specifies the EDCA (Ehanced Distributed Channel Access) and HCF (Hybrid Coordination Function) medium access control methods for the shared wireless environment. The next chapter of my work is devoted to the verification of the theoretical results in OPNET Modeler simulation environment. I studied in details the WLAN model available in OPNET Modeler, the effect of data-flow classification into separate categories and the configuration of several access method parameters. Next, I created my own WLAN model according to the 802.11e standard. This model contains four applications two of them with real-time requirements. The model is divided into several scenarios, each focusing on different aspects of wireless network technologies like QoS support and it´s dependency on the number of clients, mobility of wireless terminals and comparison of the 802.11a/b/g and the 802.11e technology.

Investigating the application of the asset-based approach in career facilitation

Coetzee, Sonja 20 December 2006 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to investigate the asset-based approach as alternative in career facilitation. In traditional career counselling, the career counsellor is seen as an expert and one-stop service provider that matches clients to careers. Alternatively, an asset-based career facilitator aims at facilitating sustainable career development skills by means of applying asset-based principles such as collaboration and shared responsibility. In this study, client-partners were viewed from several complementary theoretical frameworks, namely the asset-based approach, bio-ecological model of human development, Positive Psychology and the process of career facilitation. In addition, phenomenology was selected as meta-theory to guide the instrumental case study. Five career seeking client-partners between the ages of 16 and 18 were chosen according to criteria, and took part in an approximately six week asset-based career facilitation process. Client-partners were aware that the process was under study and willingly reflected on the process after completion. Thematic analysis resulted in the following themes: firstly, it appeared that individual client-partner profiles impacted on the application of asset-based principles. Factors pertaining to individual client profiles are personality traits, age, unique family dynamics, career interests and previous career assessment experiences. Secondly, applying asset-based principles seemed to impact on the career facilitation process with regard to the challenging role of the asset-based career facilitator as well as advantages and disadvantages of applying such principles. Thirdly, it looked as if the entrenched nature of the old paradigm or medical model impacted on the process as some client-partners still preferred the expert matching done in traditional career counselling and resisted being a partner in the career facilitation process. Findings suggest indicators and contra-indicators concerning the application of asset-based principles and strategies in career facilitation, as well as implicate recommendations with regard to training and further research. / Dissertation (MEd (Educational Psychology))--University of Pretoria, 2005. / Educational Psychology / unrestricted

La satisfaction des clients permet-elle de mieux expliquer l'Impact des fusions et acquisitions sur la valeur de l'entreprise ? / Does customer satisfaction mediate the effects of Mergers & Acquisitions on Firm Value ?

Rutambuka, David 19 September 2017 (has links)
There is some evidence that customers are responding negatively to mergers and acquisitions (M&A). However, marketing researchers have paid little attention to the effects of these operations on customer satisfaction. Moreover, the performance of M&A remains controversial and arouses debate among researchers. This work seeks to understand whether customer satisfaction plays the role of mediator in the relationship between M&A and the performance of a company. We analyze 1,959 M&A transactions carried out by 133 companies over the period 1994 to 2014. Data are gathered from marketing (i.e. American Customer Satisfaction Index) and financial (Thomson One Banker, Datastream and Fama-French Data Libary) databases. The results show that mergers and acquisitions carried out by companies experienced in M&A can improve the level of customer satisfaction. Mergers and acquisitions influence firm performance because they impact the level of customer satisfaction, which is one of the main determinants of a company's operating result and stock market value. In sum, customer satisfaction does allow us to explain the impact of M&A on the value of the firm.

Socialsekreterarna och barnen : En kvalitativ studie om svårigheter som kan uppstå när socialsekreterare arbetar med barn ochfamiljer som är utsatta / Social secretaries and the children : A qualitative study of the social workers difficulties in their work with childrenand young people

Nikic, Tatjana, Osmani, Vjosa January 2021 (has links)
This essay examines social secretaries working with children, and young people, who are atrisk of being taken into care. Qualitative interviews were conducted with eight social secretaries working in different places in Sweden. The aim is to gain a better understanding of the difficulties that social workers face working with families, and children, who live outside society. Theoretical starting points are Michael Lipsky's theory of street-level bureaucrats, Michael Foucault's theory of power and Arlie Russell Hocschild's theory of emotional rules. The results shows that the difficulties social secretaries experience are that laws and regulations can complicate their work; it can also lead to the social secretaries losing power and control over their clients. The social secretaries are aware of the fact that they exercise power, but that it usually takes place through motivational work where language is a form of power. The results shows that the public has expectations of them, but does not understand that the social secretaries perform their work based on laws and regulations. When the public does not understand the difficulties in the work of social workers, it can lead to unfair criticism from society. The social secretaries feel that it was possible to control their emotions after a while, but very difficult situations can remain in their memory for a long time. A social secretary should preferably avoid showing negative feelings towards clients, because then they can be perceived as unprofessional. The relationship with the clients is important and it can be problematic when a client does not want to cooperate.

The Effects of the Physical Attractiveness Stereotype on Therapists' Perceptions of Clients

Larsen, Todd S. 01 May 1979 (has links)
The purpose of the present study was two-fold: (1) to determine whether the ratings a client receives on measures of likeableness, psychological effectiveness, and prognostic outcome differ as a result of the client's perceived level of physical attractiveness (high or low) and, (2) to determine whether the level of professional training in clinical/counseling psychology possessed by the raters mediates these effects. To achieve these purposes, four groups of subjects (varying in level of training in clinical/counseling psychology) listened to the same 12-minute audio-tape excerpt of an actual initial interview with a client. Half the subjects in each group viewed a photograph of a woman previously determined to be of a high physical attractiveness level and half the subjects in each group viewed a photograph of a woman previously determined to be low in physical attractiveness level. The subjects were told that the photograph was of the client to whom they were listening. Following the presentation of these stimulus materials, the subjects responded to questionnaires designed to determine the subjects' perceptions of the client's likeableness, psychological effectiveness, and prognosis. Analysis of variance techniques were used for statistical comparisons of the data. The results showed: (1) the physical attractiveness level of the client (high or low) resulted in no systematic biasing of the subjects' judgements of the client's likeableness, psychological effectiveness, or prognosis, and (2) the four groups (representing different levels of training in counseling/ clinical psychology) did not differ significantly from one another in the ratings they gave the client. Therefore, the results of the present study did not support previous research on this topic. Possible implications of the findings of the present study, with consideration of the apparent contradiction with earlier research and suggestions for further investigation of this topic are discussed.

Therapy Videotape Presentation for Eating Disorder Clients: Development and Evaluation

Quakenbush, Benita J. 01 May 1998 (has links)
Eating disorder clients show low motivation, poor follow-through, and inordinate premature dropout rates in treatment. Earlier studies support the use of pretherapy training to help clients understand the tasks and challenges of therapy. However, a pretherapy intervention, such as showing prospective clients a video that outlines recovery issues and themes, had not yet been developed specifically for the prevalent, recalcitrant problem of eating disorders. Thus, of particular interest to clinicians who treat eating disorders may be the development of a theoretically sound, pretherapy videotape that outlines recovery issues. One of the purposes of this study was to review prior investigations of the 111 effects of pretherapy films/videos on therapy outcomes. However, the central focus of this dissertation was to develop a pretherapy video for use with eating disorder clients, and using quantitative methods, assess the quality and likely therapeutic utility of the pretherapy video. The video was developed to be theoretically consistent with Bandura' s modeling paradigm, social learning theory. Eating disorder clients, a comparison group of college women, and professional clinicians who are experienced at treating women with eating disorders were asked to view and evaluate the video (developed to orient prospective clients to recovery issues during treatment for eating disorders). All three groups reportedly found the recovering women portrayed in the video credible, believable, and persuasive. All groups of observers indicated that the video presented an understandable and hopeful message possessing emotional impact, and they avowed that the video created expectations for improvement. Also, the viewers believed the pretherapy video would likely increase knowledge of eating disorder recovery, and that future eating disorder clients viewing the video would likely learn new information that would facilitate their recovery. Additionally, the three groups indicated the video seemed to be of general relevance and therapeutic utility to women with eating disorders.
