Dynamická elektroneurostimulace a elektrické vlastnosti kůže / Dynamic electroneurostimulation and electrical properties of skin

Špeta, Marek January 2013 (has links)
The focus of this diploma thesis is on theoretical basics of dynamic electroneurostimulation, which is an effect of electrical signal on acupuncture points of skin. This technology is used in devices made by russian DiaDENS company. Practical part of this thesis covers design of human skin impedance model. Especially derivation from three-element Cole-Cole model. Elementary, there is design of equivalent circuit of constant phase element and its incorporation into circuit. Then this circuit is designed, simulated and produced. Resulting product is used as a load to measure the characteristics of the DiaDENS device.

Fugue State : Memories Without Borders and The Fugueur as Flaneur in Teju Cole's Open City

Sundén, Eva-Charlotta January 2012 (has links)
Published in 2011, Teju Cole’s second novel Open City tells the story of one year of walking in New York and Brussels narrated from the perspective of the novel’s first-person narrator, Julius. In this manner the reader is offered ample insights into Julius’s thoughts and memories. This is a narrative based on the memories of the protagonist as well as the memories shared by the people he meets, which together create a narrative “fugue” that both hides and illuminates the central conflicts of the novel. Julius can be described both as fugueur (someone who is in a dissociated mental state and travels compulsively) and flaneur (someone who walks the streets and is obsessively observant), two concepts of ambiguity. This paper will analyze the main character’s development through three stages: reunion, repression, and reconstruction, in relation to Walter Benjamin’s reading of the flaneur as both criminal and detective, and Ian Hacking’s book on fugueurs in the 19th century. Furthermore, this memory-based narrative can be read in relation to Wai Chee Dimock’s idea of deep time, as well as Rothberg’s view of memory as multidirectional and productive, two theories that can be linked to “mad” travelling and obsessive observation. This paper tries to bring clarity to this opaque novel of solitude and repression, and sort out the clues given by the narrator.

New Homes and New Names: The African Migrant Novelin the Digital Age

Roy, Vilasini January 2016 (has links)
In this thesis, I attempt to explore the development of migrant literature in an era of digitalcommunication. The latest developments in communication technology have certainlydestabilized patterns of content creation and dissemination. While many use it uncritically, mostly as a means of information and keeping in contact, there are new avenues open forthose who wish to engage actively and create a space for new dialogue. And though theseonline platforms have not completely overturned hierarchies between literatures from theWest versus the global South, they have certainly altered both the content and form of workoriginating from African countries. By doing so, digital technology has boosted the creationof an African identity that moves away from victimhood by reimagining ideas of what itmeans to be and write from an African perspective where a multiplicity and hybridity ofvoices exist. I have chosen three “digital migrant novels” (Caren Irr’s term): ChimamandaNgozi Adichihe’s Americanah, NoViolet Bulawayo’s We Need New Names, and Open Cityby Teju Cole. I begin by situating these novels in a technologically sophisticated, mediaoriented space, where the geography of nations is challenged by overlapping spaces of digitalcommunication. My aim is threefold – to identify new patterns in migrant identity and to seehow they are affected by technology use; to see whether these patterns correspond to theemergence of an Afropolitan identity (and to understand what permutations this Afropolitanidentity can take on). And and finally, to analyse how digital media communication shapes amigrant’s relationship to homeland and language.

Hook Effect on Electrical Bioimpedance Spectroscopy Measurements. Analysis, Compensation and Correction

Buendía, Rubén January 2009 (has links)
Nowadays, the Electrical Bioimpedance (EBI) measurements have become a commonpractice as they are useful for different clinical applications. EBI technology and EBImeasurement systems are relatively simple when compared to other type of medicalinstrumentation. But even in such simple measurement systems measurement artifact mayoccur. One of the most common artifacts present measurements is the Hook Effect, which isidentifiable by the hook-alike deviation on the EBI data that it produces on the impedanceplot. The Hook Effect influences typical EBI data analysis processes like Cole fitting processand the estimation of the Cole parameters, which are critical for several EBI applications. Therefore the Hook Effect must be corrected, compensated or removed before the any fittingprocess. With the goal of finding a reliable correction method the origin and the impact on theEBI measurement of the Hook Effect is studied in this thesis. The currently used Tdcompensation method is also studied and a new approach for compensation and correction ispresented. The results indicate that the proposed method truly corrects the Hook Effect and that themethodology to select the correcting parameters is solid based on the origin of the Hook Effectand it is extracted from the EBI measurement it-self avoiding any external dependency.

Cole Model Analysis of EBIs Neonatal Cerebral Measurements

Sharad Dhanpalwar, Prathamesh, Chen, Xinyuan January 2010 (has links)
The concept of Electrical Bio Impedance prevails in this thesis. The EBI measurement which is used for obtaining the body composition is, by virtue of time becoming of great use as its one of the easiest method of finding out the body composition. In simple words, EBI is the opposition offered by the body to the current. It is just like another analysis tool. The result is only as good as the test is done. In this thesis, we have done the analysis on the neonatal EBI measurements of two kinds. In this work, 293 measurements are obtained from 12 babies and 230 measurements are obtained from 7 babies have been analyzed with the purpose of obtaining reference values for the spectrum of complex EBI. The analysis uses both statistical and model approach of obtaining reference values and in order to fit the given data, Cole model analysis is used.Filters were applied to get the highest degree of correctness. In the due course of the filtering, it was found that the measurements from some babies have been deleted. The Standard Error of Estimation (S.E.E.) is a parameter used for obtaining the further reliable and most probable output. The further analysis is done using MATLAB and the results are been compared to the previous analysis report.

Development of a software tool for electrical bioimpedance spectroscopy analysis

Blanco Hernández, David January 2008 (has links)
Electrical Bioimpedance measurement has been used in clinical practice for several years for non-invasive monitoring. In recent years new applications of electrical bioimpedance measurements based in the spectral analysis has been validated. This fact have encouraged the use of spectral analysis on Electrical Bioimpedance measurements and it is a wide spread idea that spectral analysis of electrical bioimpedance data is going to open the door for new indicators for health assessment. The intended goal of this project is to develop a software tool, based in Matlab, that allows researchers to perform, both spectral and time signal analysis on the measurements performed Electrical Bioimpedance Spectrometers. This tool must incorporate the necessary display capabilities to allow quick visual inspection and visualization of the analysis results.Once this tool has been implemented, spectral analysis and validation of classification features will be possible in an easy way accelerating the process of test and analysis of experimental data analysis. This task is always critical in any research or clinical study. To facilitate the spectral analysis of electrical bioimpedance data will contribute to the developing of novel methods of non-invasive diagnosis and monitoring. / Uppsatsnivå: D

MATLAB suite for removing the capacitive leakage effect from EBI Spectroscopic data

Danish Siddiqui, Muhammad, Gopi, Suhasini January 2011 (has links)
Electrical Bioimpedance (EBI) is the opposition offered by the biological material to theflow of electric current. Nowadays EBI technology is widely used for total body compositionand body fluid distribution. In this project a software suite is developed by using the GUI tool of Matlab, thissoftware is meant to help to remove artefacts from the EBI measurement and to visualize theEBIS measurements and the processing performed on them.Hook effect is one of the major artefacts found in EBI measurements, which createsproblems in any analysis. To eliminate the Hook effect some methods are followed. The data’sare processed using these methods and they are visualized. For the better understanding, bothraw data and the corrected data are plotted in impedance and admittance plots. The correcteddata is stored for further use and analysis.

The act of reading mobilizes, for the different tones of writing, the gaze of the one who does it and allows it to appropriate the idea of others, of the created universe, of the common vision, of beauty, or even of aesthetic deformation, among many other dispositions existing in the relation reader / object. This, it is resignified; that, reinvents itself, from the established "touch". Who, or what would have encouraged, nourished this relationship; under what conditions it develops; still, if the set of characteristics of a generation was a determining factor for closer ties with the literary creature also permeate the construct of this researcher doing. However, the present work focused more on the attempt to map common identity traits among the subjects studied: readers of serial literature, members of communities created around these literary volumes. The proposal is to describe and analyze the construct of the identity of this new reader from the social apparatus that surrounds him and which he points out as a determinant for his redefinition of the frontier, between what is presented to him as good and official literature and what he named as the which now responds to their perspectives. The study of this identity is individual, although we can not move away from the group consciousness that exists and is one of the factors of cohesion in the communities of readers. For that, a group was invited to participate in the research: Camp Half Blood (CHB), of fans of the saga Percy Jackson, one of the collections of Rick Riordan. Of the twenty-seven questionnaires selected for this study, sixteen were filled out by members of this community. Two other groups, the Community of Readers of the State School Professor Francisco Ivo Cavalcanti (CLFIC) and Tributes and Divergent (T & D), contributed to this scientific work, respectively, of CLFIC, four questionnaires answered and T & D, five questionnaires. It is intended to expose this mapping, in the light of Bakhtin's (2011, 2015) theories that considered language as a constant process of interaction mediated by dialogue. The concept of centripetal and centrifugal forces, also of the author, came together with the perception of the Bakhtinian, concrete, voiced statement. Are still in the field of applied linguistics, in this research, the study of modern "decentered or fragmented" identities of Hall (2005), "historically constituted, not biologically" and Canclini's (2006) vision of the The act of "taking off" and contemporaneity as a historical construction marked by the processes of hybridization. Such theoretical-methodological orientations allow the reader communities to be understood as constructed spaces, according to the desires / knowledge / experiences of their participants, which assure them a reading path in the absence of what is socially valued as "good literature".
