Konsten som arena för interkulturella möten : En kvalitativ fallstudie av ett konstprojekt utifrån religionsfilosofiska och psykologiska perspektiv

Denna fallstudie undersöker på vilket sätt konstnärligt skapande i grupp kan främja möten mellan kulturellt olika människor. Syftet har varit att nå en djupare förståelse av vad ett konstprojekt i integrationssyfte kan innebära för deltagarna i relation till ämnet interkulturella möten. Kvalitativa semistrukturerade intervjuer och deltagande observationer har använts för datainsamling. Det samlade materialet har sedan analyserats utifrån religionsfilosofiska och psykologiska teorier kring det interkulturella och mellanmänskliga mötet, samt konstens roll i detta sammanhang. Resultatet tyder på att konstprojekt, av det slag som studerats här, rymmer en potential att skapa möten mellan kulturellt olika människor vars vägar annars sällan korsas. Undersökningen visar på hur det gemensamma skapandet blir till ett rum med en förmåga att härbärgera olikheter och därigenom lägga grunden för en vi-känsla trots kulturella skillnader. Skillnader i konstnärliga traditioner framträder som en potentiell resurs som berikar skapandet och i förlängningen mötet deltagarna emellan. Genom det ömsesidiga utbyte som sker genom skapande och samtal kliver människor fram som unika individer istället för representanter för en etnisk grupp. Att på detta sätt bli synliggjord som individ framträder här som ett av undersökningens centrala teman. Studien visar slutligen att skaparträffarna med tiden blir en gemensam levd erfarenhet, bestående av gemensamma minnen och därmed en del av en begynnande ny gemensam referensram.

Returning Home Through Stories: A Decolonizing Approach to Omushkego Cree Theatre through the Methodological Practices of Native Performance Culture (NPC)

This research examines Native Performance Culture (NPC), a unique practice in Native theatre that returns Aboriginal people to the sources of Aboriginal knowledge, and interrupts the colonial fragmenting processes. By looking at the experiences of six collaborators involved in a specific art project, the artist-researcher shares her journey of healing through the arts, while interweaving the voices of artistic collaborators Monique Mojica, Floyd Favel, and Erika Iserhoff. This study takes a decolonizing framework, and places NPC as a form of Indigenous research while illuminating the methodological discourses of NPC, which are rooted in an inter-dialogue between self-in-relation to family, community, land, and embodied legacies. Finally, this research looks at the ways that artists work with Aboriginal communities and with Aboriginal knowledge, and makes recommendations to improve collaborative approaches.

Opera-se uma distinção entre visualidade e visibilidade, entre recepção e percepção, entre comunicação e informação. Em todas essas diferenças se produzem metamorfoses do olhar. / Transdisciplinary research project focused on contemporary dialogic aproach based on art and public sphere. Building Art Education Relationships with Local Art Agencies

This educational study on building art education relationships between art educators and local community art agencies was conducted in early February of 2009. Data was collected by means of an art teacher survey, mailed to the homes of metro Atlanta art educators and by conducting face-to-face interviews with professionals working in the education departments of high profile metro Atlanta art agencies. The data analysis provides insight into the goals of local K-12 art educators, and they are compared to the goals of community art agencies. The findings of this study reveal that art teachers and art agencies share many common goals and face similar challenges. And together, through networking and close communication, they may better serve the needs of students K-12 as they become lifetime participants and supports of the visual arts.

Crowdsourcing the production of public art : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the degree of Master of Design, Massey University College of Creative Arts, Institute of Communication Design

Many people that would like to contribute at some level towards creating art in public spaces. However little is currently being done to make use of this untapped potential. The difficulties involved with collecting and coordinating dispersed talent often prevents it from being utilized. But now the Internet offers new opportunities to make harnessing latent talent much easier. Successful online platforms (such as Wikipedia and YouTube) demonstrate the potential value that can be derived from volunteers when appropriate systems are in place to utilize their contributions. Jeff Howe refers to this idea of harnessing distributed volunteered effort via the web as ‘crowdsourcing’. Which he explains as “the process by which the power of many can be leveraged to accomplish feats that were once the province of a specialized few” (2008). This thesis aims to investigate how an online platform might harness voluntary contributions in order to produce public art. The design objective for this project is to develop an online platform that allows people to contribute towards creating art in public spaces. My research explores the needs and motivations of potential contributors as well as techniques for harnessing voluntary contribution and coordinating group effort. As understanding human behaviour and user interaction is central to this project I have adopted a user-centered approach to research and development. To better understand the requirements of the proposed online platform user research was initially conducted in the form of focus groups with potential users and then via an in depth case study. In order to tackle the challenge of designing an entire platform the process was divided into distinct elements that could be addressed individually. These elements included the core functionality, the brand identity, the structural design, the interface design, and the visual design. For each element I consider what techniques might help to better harness voluntary contribution. The final result provides an online environment for people to get involved with specific art projects around their city. Projects are presented as separate challenges and users can contribute at many different levels such as sharing designs online, attending events, or simply providing feedback

Thesis deals with possibility of development cooperation, engagement and interpersonal relationships through artistic projects. How can arts education promote children's interest in their neighbourhoods and learn them engagement? This is main a question in this thesis. The theoretical part describes the methods and approaches that are related to the cooperation in art education. The thesis search for contemporary art projects focused on community development and local changes and interpret them. The practical part describes own project, focused to the city of Dačice. The main ideas of the project are based on the official transfer of the city from Moravia to Bohemia. The aim of the project is not only to promote children's interest in their place of neighbourhoods and to lead them to engagement and cooperation, but also to lead them to reflect their identity.
