Towards a holistic ministry to the Kwe San communities in the Tsumkwe constituency in NamibiaCoetzee, Ernst 12 1900 (has links)
Thesis (M.Div. (Practical Theology and Missiology))--University of Stellenbosch, 2007. / ENGLISH ABSTRACT: Identity refers to the beliefs and values, the lifestyles, character, style and history of a congregation. A person has an identity, so a congregation develops an identity which is in a very close association with its members, their circumstances and history. The Kwe San and their unique history and circumstances have contributed to their current identity. This identity also determines the way in which the ministerial praxis is tailored for a specific congregation and community.
The Kwe San’s current context has a practical theological response which is contextually based. Their traditional free-roaming abilities have been limited by the Tsumkwe Constituency, a prior homeland. The various original social organizations which form an integral part of the Kwe San’s life within their System Two, forms an integral part of their current life. These aspects need to be taken into consideration when formulating a congregation’s ministerial praxis.
Within this community the practicality of theological ecclesiology has become important. This is due to the change in context of the Kwe San. To have a better understanding of the present ministerial praxis I have incorporated the Gestalt theory principles which help us to address the current situation and also the System Theory, in order to understand the current contextual nature of the Kwe San people.
Any form of a holistic ministerial approach requires that we understand the interdependence of people and nature. It also emphasizes the fact that we are all connected to one another and that the church needs to raise to the occasion and play its part within each segment of the community. It needs to be an active participant within different interdependent or interrelated parts within the society in which we interact with one another, interact with nature and interact with God.

Att be på riktigt : Om vänförsamlingars betydelse för församlingar i Svenska kyrkan Härnösands stiftStrinnholm, Sofia January 2016 (has links)
This study is about twinning partnerships between congregations in the Church of Sweden (CoS) and the Evangelical-Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT). The study is about three congregations within the diocese of Härnösand that has twinning congregations within the diocese of Iringa. The aim of the study is to define values within the twinning congregations that are important to the CoS. The study is based on interviews with lay people, elected and employed people within CoS. Swedish informants have told me that they see the prayer being part of daily life in a more natural manner for the friends in Tanzania. “The prayer is real within the congregations in Tanzania”, the people of the CoS are saying. What is the value for the CoS of having twinning congregations with ELCT? What do the Swedish people gain of it and how is it affected of the economical differences between the twinning congregations?

Les Considerationes de Franz Lang SJ (1695-1717) : histoire des méditations munichoises, Analyse du Theatrum Solitudinis Asceticoe et de la musique de Johannes- Andreas Rauscher à partir des Exercices spirituels d’Ignace de Loyola / Franz Lang SJ's Considerationes (1695-1717) : a history of Jesuit meditation in Munich, An analysis of the Theatrum Solitudinis Asceticae and the music of Johannes-Andreas Rauscher based on Ignacio of Loyola's Spiritual ExercisesMagniez, Anne-Claire 13 November 2009 (has links)
Between 1677 and 1776, the great latin congregation of Munich used to perform musicaldramas during the Lenten season. These dramas were called Considerationes or « DramaticMeditations » and were intended for the moral edification of their congregation members. The dramas’plot was written by the congregation’s Jesuit priest while bavarian musicians composed the music. This work specifically treats the Considerationes by Franz Lang (1654 – 1725), which wereperformed between 1695 and 1712. As opposed to other meditations, Lang’s Considerationes wereentirely printed in the year 1717. They were brought together in three collections – TheatrumSolitudinis Asceticæ, Theatrum Affectuum Humanorum, Theatrum Doloris et Amoris – and togetherthey consist of about 850 pages of text and over 3000 pages of score. This research firstly explains the existance of this extraordinary source thanks to a precisestudy of the history of the performances which is then put in context with Munich’s musical life at thetime. Then follows a dramaturgical analysis of the Theatrum Solitudinis Asceticæ, which waspostulated by Ignatius of Loyola within the Spiritual Exercises. After a part about the literary work ofLang, my work closes with an analysis of the Considerationes – which were composed by Johannes-Andreas Rauscher, who died in 1702 - regarding musicology. These pieces finally are a noteworthyexample of the « musical Spiritual Exercises ».

1 Kongregace Milosrdných sester sv. Karla Boromejského na pozadí událostí 19., 20. a 21. století Congregation of Sisters of Mercy of St. Boromeo and the Situation in 19th, 20 th and 21th Century Marcela Batrošová - Bártová This introductory chapter is expected to depict the basic information on which this thesis has been written and its main objective. The impetus of this work has been two reasons. Partly, I had done a similar topic during my bachelor's level where I had addressed the inception and development of the congregation of sisters of mercy of the St. Charles of Baromeo in Bohemia. It was from this work, that I got the motivation to extend the study by trying to further explore on the biographical background of four main leaders of this congregation. I look at their activities from different historical phases in Bohemia. This method of literature review from the archive of the congregation I considered as "untouched field". It was a great challenge that I wouldn't let go. This work in its context could not however, capture the whole scene in detail. Therefore the historical episodes to relevant leaders of this congregation are only a summarized view of important events of the period experienced by the relevant personality. The whole work is divided into four chapters. The first chapter looks into...

Analyse de la diversité moléculaire de populations d'abeilles de la lignée ouest-méditerranéenne (Apis mellifera mellifera) dans le but de la conservation / Analyses of the genetic diversity of West-Mediterranean honeybee populations (Apis mellifera mellifera) in a conservation process.Bertrand, Bénédicte 28 June 2013 (has links)
The honeybee species (Apis mellifera, L.) is divided in four evolutionary lineages (M: West-Mediterranean, A: African, C: North-Mediterranean and O: Oriental). These lineages are also divided in, at least, 26 subspecies which show a very high geographical structure. This structure is the result of more than thousand years of evolution (from the last Ice Ages to nowadays).Among the different subspecies, one is naturally found in France and Northern Europe: Apis mellifera mellifera (A. m. mellifera), also known as the Black Honeybee. For many reasons, non local subspecies, belonging to the C evolutionary lineage, have been imported in France since the beginning of the sixties. These massive importations result in the tendency of losing of the Apis mellifera geographical repartition and could lead to the loss of the local subspecies (A. m. mellifera) and its specific traits. Many A. m. mellifera conservatories, managed by beekeepers, have been initiated in Europe to compensate the importation effects on the subspecies. However, no specifications, combining a scientific approach and beekeeping, regarding the setup and monitoring of a conservation center have been proposed. The present study genetically characterized and validated, by the analysis of drone congregation areas, different European conservatories.A protocol regarding the setup and, scientific and beekeeping, monitoring of conservation centers have been proposed. Finally, a preliminary study, regarding the specific honeybee mating system and its implication on conservation programs, has been initiated in the Ile-de-France region. This thesis presents interesting results.First, the conservatories analyzed show a level of introgression, by C lineage, low enough and a genetic diversity high enough to be validated as A. m. mellifera conservation centers. But, the introgression cannot increase, and/or the genetic diversity cannot decrease, these criterions are indeed necessary for any Black Honeybee conservation center.Second, the geographical isolation of conservatories is not needed, it could even be not recommended because of the possible loss of genetic diversity implied, to set up conservation centers. However, it is really important to genetically characterize the colonies surrounding the conservatory. This is, indeed, needed to estimate and limit the risk of introgression by non local colonies.Different hypotheses proposed is this thesis do not corroborate the conclusions of previous studies on A. mellifera. It seems that drones do not go to the closest drone congregation. But the question whether they go to another congregation or they do not have the same probability to join a congregation is not answer. This analysis has to be more precisely considered in further studies. The most striking result is the possible presence of feral swarms in the Ile-de-France region. These swarms were supposed to have disappeared because of the invasion of the parasite Varroa destructor in Europe. However, this new and interesting hypothesis has to be confirmed by more precise analyses. Nevertheless, the occurrence of feral swarms would be very encouraging for the conservation of A. m. mellifera, but also for the conservation of the whole species.

La généralisation de la prophétie dans le Nouveau Testament : sources, modalités de déploiement, limites et enjeux / The generalization of prophecy in the New Testament : sources, modes of deployment, limits and significanceMinard, Timothée 29 June 2018 (has links)
Several New Testament texts reflects a certain form of generalization of prophecy within early Christianity. This belief contrasts with the relative absence of a similar expectation within intertestamental Judaism, brought to light through an investigation of ancient Jewish literature. An examination of Christian sources reveals the practice of congregational prophecy within early Christianity. In light of these background elements, it is shown how three New Testament texts view, each in its own way, the deployment of the generalization of prophecy. For the author of Acts, believers in Jesus-Christ constitute a prophetic nation who is experiencing the eschatological outpouring of the Spirit of prophecy announced in Joel 3. In 1 Corinthians 12-14, Paul offers a set of regulations regarding the implementation of the generalization of prophecy in the Christian community. The book of Revelation invites to consider the people of the Lamb as bearers of a prophetic testimony in this world. The analysis of these texts pays attention to sociological issues related to the generalization of prophecy.

This dissertation intends to analyze the internal relations of power in Hospital Psiquiátrico São Pedro, in Porto Alegre, throughout the twentieth century, seeking to understand how the religious of the Congregation of St. Joseph earned its place in an institution for the scientific treatment of insanity. The narrative follows two trajectories: one of these nuns and a patient. Both lived the first years of their lives in the colonization and immigration region of Rio Grande do Sul, and later, for different reasons, spent many time in the hospital. Sister Paulina is more than 60 years working in São Pedro, while Anninka was hospitalized in the same institution during four intermittent periods, for about 38 years. Through these characters, I tried to reconstruct the moments of tension and harmony between these two theoretically distinct fields (science and religion), fields that, for decades, have walked so closely linked in Rio Grande do Sul asylum space. In the routine of an institution of great proportions, with all the problems common to other asylums built in Brazil since the second half of the nineteenth century, even the internees themselves took roles in several areas, becoming important aides of São Pedro ́s administration staff – especially the Sisters. Research for this work was made by official documentation linked to the Hospital, the specialized historiography on the subject and, crucially, through interviews with doctors, staff, a former patient and Sister Paulina, which were granted to the author especially for this investigation.

A new 'promised land'? : denominations, local congregations, camp meetings, and the creation of community in early Kentucky, c.1780-1830De Vries, Jonathan Peter January 2016 (has links)
This thesis examines the importance Kentucky's religious denominations played in the development and transformation of early Kentucky (1770's to 1830). This thesis will show that though federal and regional governments may have created the laws that established newly opened territories, it was often the denominations that played an important role in the creation of that community and stability of the wider societies. Beginning with camp meetings this thesis will argue that denominations began the process of creating community by actively placing these meetings outside the bounds of early congregations and into the backcountry. In doing so denominations brought outsiders, in many cases for the first time, into direct contact with the denominations. This thesis will also argue that denominations developed a new form of worship that was more inclusive and more communal, allowing for wider participation by settlers, especially by women, children, or slaves at these meetings. This thesis will then turn its attention towards the ideas and concepts of the local congregation. This thesis will argue that the local congregation was ideally situated to reinforce the beginnings of community which were established with camp meetings. Through activities such as the calling of ministers as well as the election of elders, deacons, and other lay positions in their local congregation, settlers became active members of the local congregation and entered into a deeper connection with the community. The local congregation offered settlers access to an institution that was both local and communal. Finally this thesis will turn towards a study of physical church buildings arguing that such buildings expressed and reinforced concepts of community and stability. This thesis will argue that over time those congregations that had access to a church often found stability and security. This thesis will also focus on the layout of churches arguing that denominations strengthened already established and shared ideas of community within their congregations through these layouts. By understanding how denominations created community within Kentucky this thesis will argue that the denominations played an important role within newly established territories and that only through a study of these denominations can one begin to understand how the process of western expansion was able to succeed.

Justifying a New Beginning: The Case of An Urban, Jewish Congregation in the 1970sOchrach-Konradi, Tirza 01 January 2019 (has links)
This research applies C. Wright Mills’ theory of vocabularies of motive to reveal the collective narratives, which were used to justify the atypical founding of an urban Jewish congregation in the 1970s. Prior to and during this period, US Jewish communities were migrating out of city centers into their surrounding suburbs. Most Jewish congregations followed their congregants and moved into the suburbs. This study identifies the collective justifications within the Hatchala Chadasha community, which are the accepted reasons for the organization’s atypical urban location and organizational structure. The findings of this research are based in the examination of interviews with individuals who were community members during the earliest years of Hatchala Chadasha’s existence. Patterns of similar accounts across the interviews revealed the collective narratives that defended four of the congregation’s fundamental decisions: why the congregation was founded, where the congregation chose to locate, how the congregation acted politically, and what organizational structure the congregation employed. These justifications are further examined, in relation to the behavior and values common within the broader Jewish community and other contextual components, to theorize why certain accounts became the accepted narrative within Hatchala Chadasha. Fundamentally, this research examines informants’ motive statements to discern and analyze the collective narratives formed in a community, which justify the community’s atypical behavior in the context of a predominant, external culture.
