O Tractatus de Wittgenstein e as crises culturais da Viena fin-de-siecle / Wittgenstein's Tractatus and cultural crisis of Vienna fin-de-siecle

Silva, Jose Fernando 11 September 2018 (has links)

Abstract: This work aims to trace the relations between Ludwig Wittgenstein's Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus and the cultural crises of fin-de-siècle Vienna. Although the author no longer lived in Vienna at the time of elaboration of his book, we assume that the Viennese cultural context is a fruitful key for its understanding. Our starting point is the characterization of three crises that marked Vienna in 1900: i) a crisis of values, represented by the increasing discredit regarding all Viennese social life pillars; ii) a crisis of the subject, delineated when the unit of the "I" was put in doubt, that is, at the moment such notion was believed not to exceed a beam of sensations and transitory experiences; iii) a crisis of language, marked by the questioning by intellectual and artistic Viennese milieu of language's capacity in express the inherent reality and feelings of the subject. We aim to show that the Tractatus, in accordance with its order of exposition, can offer an answer for each of these crises, that is to say, the demarcation of the limits of language; the affirmation of the solipsist or metaphysical subject's existence, which shows itself as a point without extension out of the world and whose will establishes the language; the defense of a unit across the ethics and the aesthetic domains, defined as transcendental attitudes that allow the subject, respectively, to expand or to decrease the limits of the world as a whole and to express the world seen sub specie aeternitatis. / Doutorado / Doutor em Filosofia

Redo för ett liv med kultur : Sex kulturskolelärares perspektiv på sina elevers livslånga lärande genom ideellt kulturutövande / Ready for a life with culture : Six culture school teachers’ perspectives on their students lifelong learning through non-profit cultural practitioning

Nygren, Sofia January 2020 (has links)
This essay is a qualitative study that examines the relationship between the Swedish kulturskola (non-compulsory cultural school for children and young adults), the non-profit cultural life and the phenomenon of lifelong learning. It raises the question wether teachers in the cultural school have a plan for their students lifelong learning or not; what their experience is of collaboration with the non-profit cultural life and if they take any concrete actions to facilitate the students entry into the local cultural life as amateur cultural practitioners. The theoretical framework is the situated learning theory by Lave & Wenger and the context of action theory by Dreier. Six teachers have been interviewed in the study. The result of the study is that the teachers see great values of their students lifelong learning, however, the collaboration with non-profit cultural associations is not always easy because of differences in perspective. It is helpful if the teacher him-/herself has the possibility of being personally engaged in, or at least has experience from, the non-profit cultural life, in order to be able to bridge the gap that arises for students trying to enter the adult cultural world. It is also suggested that teachers need to be given enough resources and support to be able to participate in collaborations with the associations of the local non-profit cultural life. The matter of students’ lifelong learning is urgent not only for the individual student or cultural organizations, but also for the society as a whole.

Gündogan, Göknur 10 December 2011 (has links)
Since the 1950’s, the conversion of industrial wastelands constitute an important phenomenon in Europe. Even if it is more known as a movement of urban redevelopment, it also holds a particular meaning for today’s cultural and artistic practices. These huge (vast) spaces that were abandoned by science and industries of the modern era start to become the places of alternative expressions which are convenient for exchanges between art, industry and science of contemporary times. Thus, these memorial places‐ through their particular characteristics incarnate the entity of the western contemporary societies. Starting by their facilities, the model of organization of work, and the industrial production approach that they reflect; their factories, laboratories and centers are at the crossroads of several artistic questions. The major objective of this thesis is to analyze the possibility of an interaction between art, science, and industry but also academia within the project of a particular cultural wasteland realized in Istanbul in Turkey by putting the emphasis on social –economicalechoes of such a conversion at urban level. Observing the unique example of Santralistanbul – an initiative of Bilgi University that gave life again to the ancient electricity power station of Silahtaraga‐, the point is to highlight theparticularities of the project and to focus principally on the activities concerning the domain of performing arts.

RE-THINKING PARIS AT THE FIN-DE-SIÈCLE: A NEW VISION OF PARISIAN MUSICAL CULTURE FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF GABRIEL ASTRUC (1854-1938)

Leal, Cesar A 01 January 2014 (has links)
Gabriel Astruc (1864-1938), a French impresario of Jewish background, is mostly known for his collaborative work as an impresario with Sergei Diaghilev and his Ballets Russes. His role within Parisian musical culture at the fin de siècle, however, was much broader. He was a critic, creator of a leading periodical, producer of musical and circus events, music publisher, and associate of many important cultural figures of his day. Although Astruc has been mentioned in scholarly literature, his multifaceted activities have never been carefully studied. Following the revisionist initiatives of previous scholars (e.g., Pasler, Huebner, Garafola, Fauser), this project offers a new understanding of Parisian cultural life between 1880 and 1913. Rather than focusing on valued composers such as Debussy or selected avant-garde repertoire, this dissertation considers the panoramic perspective of the Parisian cultural milieu as understood by a well-positioned impresario who participated in diverse, but often intersecting, music circles. It reveals rich interconnections between Astruc’s entrepreneurial, managerial, and publishing endeavors that linked private fêtes and soirées that he produced in elite homes with his ambitious concert series, La Grande Saison de Paris, 1905-1913 – organized through his firm La Sociéte Musicale – and with compositions and contents published in Musica, the magazine he co-founded in 1902. It questions Astruc’s aesthetic preferences and argues that he helped to shape Parisian culture through the promotion, publication, and programming of balanced, eclectic repertoire of new and old, national and international, and light as well as weighty works. This study also chronicles the development of the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Astruc’s culminating project that was intended to embrace symphonic, operatic, and chamber performance and to experiment with new juxtapositions and integrations of the arts. Research for this dissertation centered on a compilation and a comparative analysis of wide-ranging materials found in Astruc’s collections at the Archives Nationales and New York Public Library. Unlike earlier studies of fin-de-siècle Paris, this project utilizes previously unexamined publications, musical criticism, published literature, and manuscript material, all originating from or related to Astruc’s diverse activities and observations.

Borovanská farnost od počátku 20. století do roku 1953 / The Parish of Borovany from the Beginning of the 20th Century until 1953

MALÍKOVÁ, Markéta January 2009 (has links)
My work concerns itself with the history of the Roman Catholic parish in Borovany during the years 1900 - 1953. It provides an overview of events during that period, specifically those influenced by the political changes in our country. The first five chapters are devoted to those historical moments in the first half of the 20th century. The last two chapters discuss the customs and personalities of the parish which were characteristic of that period. The interaction of these components gives my work its principal character.

Kulturní a společenský život německé menšiny na Karlovarsku od roku 1989 / Cultural and social life of the German minority in the Karlovy Vary/Carlsbad region since 1989

Benešová, Barbora January 2017 (has links)
The diploma thesis deals with cultural and social life of the German minority in the Czech lands with the focus on its development in the Karlovy Vary border region since 1989. The study is based on an analysis of the German minority press, especially the periodicals Aufbau und Frieden, Prager Volkszeitung, Landeszeitung, LandesEcho and Eghaland Bladl, and a research survey based on interviews with members of the German minority and questionnaires addressed to the representatives of local authorities of the towns in which the research took place. First of all, the basic concepts and minority policy at the national and international levels are defined. Next, the thesis concentrates on the historical and legislative development and social-demographic situation of the German minority in the Czech lands after 1945. The next part of the thesis discusses the development of the cultural and social life of the German minority in the Czech lands and closely characterizes four main areas - organization activity, cultural and social activity, language situation and media. These four areas are explored within the research survey in the main part of the thesis. The aim is to analyze the development of the cultural and social life of the German minority in the Karlovy Vary Region, and to depict the current status.
