Feminismen i en psykologisk kriminalroman. : En genusteoretisk stickprovskontroll.

Larsson, Malin January 2016 (has links)
--

Un féminisme à cheval sur deux continents : une étude des idées féministes dans le roman Les Honneurs perdus et l'essai Lettre d'une Africaine à ses sœurs occidentales de Calixthe Beyala / A feminism straddling two continents : a study of the feminist ideas in the novel Les Honneurs perdus and the essay Lettre d'une Africaine à ses sœurs occidentales by Calixthe Beyala

Hindrikes, Evelin January 2017 (has links)
This study examines the feminist ideas in Calixthe Beyala's fictional novel Les Honneurs perdus (1996) and her essay Lettre d'une Africaine à ses sœurs occidentales (1995). The description of women's situation and their possible liberation in these two texts are analyzed, notably based on the feminist theories articulated by Simone de Beauvoir and by Judith Butler. The analysis demonstrates that the women in these texts live in a patriarchal society where they are oppressed and dominated by men. Religion and tradition serve as a way of internalizing this oppression. Early on, the women learn that their sexuality is owned by men, and that the main purpose of their existence is to get married and have children. However, Beyala also demonstrates a possiblity for women to reclaim their subjectivity and to liberate themselves from men's oppression, mainly through gaining awareness of the oppression, getting access to education and finding solidarity between women. In the last chapter of the analysis, Beyala's vision of the woman as the savior of the world is questioned, and the importance of the postcolonial context is considered. The study concludes that Beyala's feminist ideas consist of a fusion of, on one hand, Western feminist theories such as those based on the works of Beauvoir and, on the other hand, ideas of solidarity characteristic for the African continent. This creates a feminism which, just like Beyala herself, straddles two continents.

The Ethics of Ambivalence: Maternity, Intersubjectivity and Ethics in Levinas, Merleau-Ponty and Beauvoir / Maternity, Intersubjectivity and Ethics in Levinas, Merleau-Ponty and Beauvoir

Adams, Sarah LaChance, 1975- 06 1900 (has links)
xii, 278 p. / My dissertation is an existential-phenomenological account of human relations and ethics in dialogue with feminist care ethics. Using the work of Emmanuel Levinas, Maurice Merleau-Ponty, and Simone de Beauvoir, I describe how the ambiguity of human relationships results in an ambivalent ethical orientation, contingent as it is on negotiating the interrelated yet separable interests of the self and the other. Central to my work is a phenomenological description of maternal ambivalence (mothers' simultaneous desires to nurture and reject their children), an empirical case study that demonstrates how the conflicted nature of human relationships operates. Ultimately, I argue that ethical ambivalence is morally productive insofar as it helps one to avoid moral absolutism, recognize the alterity of others, attend to the particularities of situation, and negotiate one's own needs and desires with those of other people. This dissertation includes previously published material. / Committee in charge: Dr. Beata Stawarska, Co-Chair; Dr. Bonnie Mann, Co-Chair; Dr. Mark Johnson, Member; Dr. Sara Hodges, Outside Member

Finalmente, analisamos os diferentes recursos estéticos que Beauvoir e Murdoch utilizam na caracterização de suas personagens femininas, uma vez que La Femme Rompue apresenta as características de um romance moderno, enquanto A Fairly Honourable Defeat possui traços de um romance realista / The aim of this research is to address some aspects of feminism from a feminist Anglo-American critical stance in two fictional works that have been published in the late sixties and early seventies: La Femme Rompue (1967) by Simone de Beauvoir (1908-1986) and A Fairly Honourable Defeat (1970) by the Irish writer Iris Murdoch (1919-1999). First, we establish a dialogue between the philosophical thought of Beauvoir and Murdoch. Then, we firm a relationship between feminist literary criticism and Beauvoir's and Murdoch's thoughts regarding the issue of women's role as a reader and as a writer of literary texts. Thus, we explore the role of the reader as a key instance in the process of deconstruction of the discriminatory nature of gender ideologies and we demonstrate that, just as Virginia Woolf, Beauvoir and Murdoch defended the concept of androgyny in literature. Finally, we analyze the different aesthetic features that Beauvoir and Murdoch use in the characterization of female characters, since La Femme Rompue presents the characteristics of a modern novel while A Fairly Honourable Defeat has some traces of a realist novel

People who are like me have not been mentioned” : The notion of the male and Eurocentric canon within the history education by female upper secondary school students with a non-European background

Szewczyk, Karolina January 2018 (has links)

Le désir mimétique dans Les inséparables par Simone de Beauvoir / The mimetic desire in Les inséparables by Simone de Beauvoir

Grände, Nadja January 2022 (has links)
This study examines how the désir triangulaire, first defined by the French sociologist andanthropologist René Girard in his essay Mensonge romantique et vérité romanesque (1961), ispresented in the novel Les inséparables (2020), written by the French author Simone deBeauvoir. The result of this study indicates a presence of desire in the four main relationshipsof the novel due to a désir triangulaire present between the parts of the relationship. Thepresence of the désir triangulaire results in relationships with the dynamic of three parties, even though the relationship only consists of two people.

Être un homme et une femme dans le monde des hommes : L’impact des normes masculines dans En finir avec Eddy Bellegueule d’Édouard Louis / To be a man and a woman in a man's world : The impact of masculinity norms in En finir avec Eddy Bellegueule by Édouard Louis

Lasson, Åsa January 2021 (has links)
This study investigates the impact of masculinity norms on the male and female characters in the novel En finir avec Eddy Bellegueule (2014) by Édouard Louis and seeks to understand how these norms affect their relations. The study is using the theories of Raewyn Connell and Simone de Beauvoir to answer the main research question. The findings show that the masculinity norms have an effect on men’s options regarding education and employment, and by extension, their quality of life because of their reluctance towards medicine. Moreover, the masculinity norms keep homosexual men in a subordinate position. The same norms affect women’s liberation and reduce their opportunities to work outside the household, the norms also affect their relations to other women. In conclusion, the findings show that the prevailing masculinity norms have a negative impact on life of both men and women in the book, and their relations. The findings also shows that the masculinity norms maintain women in a subordinate position.

Nyman, Freja Lina January 2022 (has links)
