Contrôles structuraux en 3 dimensions de la sédimentation turbiditique dans les chaînes plissées : exemple des Grès d’Annot (SE de la France) / 3D structural controls of turbidite sedimentation into fold and thrust belts : example of the Annot Sandstones (SE France)

Salles, Lise 04 June 2010 (has links)
The Annot Sandstone, exposed in the southern sub-alpine chains, consists of sand-rich turbidites deposited in the Tertiary Alpine foreland basin (Upper Eocene – Lower Oligocene Annot Sandstone basin). While the sedimentology and stratigraphy of this turbidite system have been largely described and discussed, its structural framework remains unconstrained. This thesis presents a study of the tectonics of the Annot Sandstone basin based on field surveys and 3D geometrical (gOcad) and kinematic modelling (Trishear), focusing in particular on the Annot, Grand Coyer and Sanguinière sub-basins. Objectives were to determine the structural evolution of the sub-basins, including the role of inherited features, and to use these data to better constrain the alpine tectonic history of SE France.Infill of the early alpine foreland basin is more complex than a simple foreland migration of sedimentation and deformation. Results reveal complex interactions of tectonics and sedimentation at different scales during deposition of the Annot Sandstone.•At the foreland scale, a balanced cross-section illustrates the critical control by the pre-existing salt-based passive margin architecture on the structure of the fold and thrust belt. Triassic evaporates regionally acted as a weak basal detachment, accommodating an early alpine deformation phase of the whole foreland from the Middle to Upper Eocene. Variations in mechanical stratigraphy within the Mesozoic sediments generated a change in structural style. For example, the eastern region is characterized by a thinner, shalier Mesozoic succession, leading to several active detachments during alpine compression. Multiple fold wavelengths and synsedimentary rolling hinges generated by these active detachments led to complex depocentres. The previously under-estimated structural heritage of the foreland basin derived from rifting and spreading of the Alpine Tethys and from an early regional deformation responsible for E-W trending folds, which began in the Late Cretaceous and increased during the Middle Eocene. Preliminary thermochronology results (U-Th/He datings on detrital zircons of medium to coarse sandstone blocks and granodiorite blocks from debris flows of the Sanguiniere depocentre) suggest an exhumation of source areas during this Cretaceous deformation.•A detailed study of structures within the Annot and Grand Coyer sub-basins and their Cretaceous substrate revealed connected depocentres evolving in 3D at the basin scale. Paleocurrent directions are mainly parallel to the main alpine fold axes recording structural confinement, while some diverging directions indicate flow interaction with minor or oblique tectonic features. Turbidites were deposited along the axis into several alpine synclines, which were simultaneously or successively active.•Concerning the depocentre infill, 3D geometrical modelling of the Annot depocentre (using gOcad) was used to identify inherited structures and to constrain alpine fold activity during turbidite deposition. The onlap migration and the specific stacking and dip pattern within turbidite members (laterally rather than vertically stacked deposits) record depocentre migration linked with a rolling synclinal hinge. Due to its sedimentology and its stratigraphy, the Annot Sandstone is well-known as an analogue for sand-rich reservoirs deposited at delta toes in deep-water passive margins. This study reveals that, structurally, it is also a good example of axially-sourced turbidite depocentres developed on a multi-detachement fold and thrust belt

Junige, Marcel 27 January 2011 (has links)
ALD (atomic layer deposition) grows material layers with less than a tenth of a nanometer thickness, pulsing gaseous reactants alternately into the reaction chamber, separated by purging pulses. Hence, every cyclic recurrence of ideally self-limiting gas-solid reactions deposits a fixed material amount, until the desired film thickness is achieved. So, the surface’s chemical composition changes through material deposition during ALD, observable by in-situ SE (spectroscopic ellipsometry). Ellipsometry measures the polarization state’s change in amplitude and phase, reflecting an incident light beam from and/ or transmitting it through a (film covered) surface. The ellipsometric data can be directly related to optical material parameters and are thus physically interpretable – or they are translated into one-dimensional structural values, like film thickness. In this work, ruthenium and ruthenium dioxide films were grown from ECPR, [(ethylcyclopentadienyl)(pyrrolyl)ruthenium(II)], and molecular oxygen. Reaction mechanisms during the ALD of ruthenium and ruthenium dioxide were studied on the as-deposited film surface by in-situ SE, on-site QMS (quadrupole mass spectrometry), as well as XPS (x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy) without vacuum break. Additionally, film growth experiments were performed on the as-deposited film and the initial substrate surface by in-situ and real-time SE, varying the process parameters: reactant doses, purging times, substrate temperature and total pressure.:1 Einleitung I Theoretischer Teil 2 Ruthenium in der Mikroelektronik 2.1 Eigenschaften 2.2 Verwendung 3 Atomlagenabscheidung 3.1 Definition 3.2 Ablauf 3.3 Hauptmerkmale 3.4 Weit verbreitete Irrtümer 3.5 Vorteile und Grenzen 4 Massenspektrometrie 4.1 Definition 4.2 Verwendung 4.3 Aufbau und Funktionsweise von Massenspektrometern 4.4 Massenspektrometrische Methodik 5 Ellipsometrie 5.1 Definition 5.2 Vorteile und Grenzen 5.3 Physikalische Grundlagen 5.4 Messprinzip 5.4.1 Bestimmen ellipsometrischer Rohdaten 5.4.2 Interpretieren ellipsometrischer Spektren 5.4.3 Optisches Modellieren II Praktischer Teil 6 Chemische Reaktionen bei der thermischen Atomlagenabscheidung von Ruthenium und Rutheniumoxid 6.1 Vorbemerkungen 6.2 Untersuchungsmethoden 6.3 Beobachtungen mit Auswertung 6.3.1 Prozessgasanalyse per Quadrupol-Massenspektrometrie 6.3.2 In-situ und Echtzeit Spektroskopische Ellipsometrie 6.3.3 Röntgen-Photoelektronenspektroskopie ohne Vakuumunterbrechung 6.4 Formulieren vermuteter Teilreaktionen für das Ru Schicht-auf-Schicht Wachstum 6.4.1 Sauerstoff-Puls 6.4.2 Präkursor (ECPR)-Puls 6.4.3 ALD-Zyklus 6.5 Schlussfolgerungen für die ALD von Rutheniumoxid 6.6 Zwischenfazit und Ausblick 7 Spektroskopische Ellipsometrie in-situ und in Echtzeit während der thermischen Atomlagenabscheidung 7.1 Vorbemerkungen 7.2 Datenaufnahme 7.2.1 Messtechnische Eckdaten 7.2.2 Echtzeit-Begriff bei der Atomlagenabscheidung 7.2.3 Nasschemisches Vorbehandeln zum Zwecke definierter Ausgangssubstrate 7.2.4 Temperieren der Substrate 7.3 Interpretieren ellipsometrischer Spektren 7.4 Optisches Modellieren zur Datenauswertung 7.5 Fehlerabschätzung 8 Prozessentwicklung der thermischen Atomlagenabscheidung von Ruthenium 8.1 Vorbemerkungen 8.2 Untersuchungsmethoden 8.2.1 Schichtherstellung 8.2.2 Schichtcharakterisierung 8.3 Kennlinien der thermischen Ru-ALD 8.3.1 Zyklenanzahl 8.3.2 ECPR-Puls 8.3.3 Sauerstoff-Puls 8.3.4 Spülpulse 8.3.5 Substrattemperatur 8.3.6 Prozessdruck 8.4 Formulieren einer optimierten ALD-Prozesssequenz 8.5 Schichteigenschaften 9 Zusammenfassung und Ausblick III Anhang A Theoretische Grundlagen verwendeter Messtechnik B Parametereinflüsse im monomolekularen Wachstumsmodell C Weitere Abbildungen

Practical Deployment Aspects of Cell-Free Massive MIMO Networks

Zaher, Mahmoud January 2023 (has links)
The ever-growing demand of wireless traffic poses a challenge for current cellular networks. Each new generation must find new ways to boost the network capacity and spectral efficiency (SE) per device. A pillar of 5G is massive multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) technology. Through utilizing a large number of antennas at each transmitting node, massive MIMO has the ability to multiplex several user equipments (UEs) on the same time-frequency resources via spatial multiplexing. Looking beyond 5G, cell-free massive MIMO has attracted a lot of attention for its ability to utilize spatial macro diversity and higher resilience to interference. The cell-free architecture is based on a large number of distributed access points (APs) jointly serving the UEs within a coverage area without creating artificial cell boundaries. It provides a promising solution that is focused on delivering uniform service quality throughout the mobile network. The main challenges of the cell-free network architecture lie in the computational complexity for signal processing and the huge fronthaul requirements for information exchange among the APs. In this thesis, we tackle some of the inherent problems of the cell-free network architecture by providing distributed solutions to the power allocation and mobility management problems. We then introduce a new method for characterizing unknown interference in wireless networks. For the problem of power allocation, a distributed learning-based solution that provides a good trade-off between SE performance and applicability for implementation in large-scale networks is developed with reduced fronthaul requirements and computational complexity. The problem is divided in a way that enables each AP (or group of APs) to separately decide on the power coefficients to the UEs based on the locally available information at the AP without exchanging information with the other APs, however, still attempting to achieve a network wide optimization objective. Regarding mobility management, a handover procedure is devised for updating the serving sets of APs and assigned pilot to each UE in a dynamic scenario considering UE mobility. The algorithm is tailored to reduce the required number of handovers per UE and changes in pilot assignment. Numerical results show that our proposed solution identifies the essential refinements since it can deliver comparable SE to the case when the AP-UE association is completely redone. Finally, we developed a new technique based on a Bayesian approach to model the distribution of the unknown interference arising from scheduling variations in neighbouring cells. The method is shown to provide accurate modelling for the unknown interference power and an effective tool for robust rate allocation in the uplink with a guaranteed target outage performance. /
QC 20230503
