Smartare än fröken : En kvalitativ undersökning om synen på särskild begåvning och anpassningar i undervisningen av särskilt begåvade barn på två förskolor / Smarter than the teacher : A qualitative study on the view of giftedness and adaptations in the teaching of gifted children in two preschools

Blåbäck, Therese January 2019 (has links)
The aim of this study was to examine how adaptations in the teaching of gifted children of two preschools can be understood from the perspective of teachers, parents and children. The intent with the study was also to examine how the teachers worked to follow the curriculum and adapt the teaching, how the children could be affected by being seen as gifted and how the parents experienced the cooperation with the preschool regarding the teaching of their gifted children. Through observations and interviews four themes were discovered – characteristics and to be seen, teacher's knowledge and education on giftedness, working methods and adaptations, and transition from preschool to school. The study’s results showed that the different perspectives differ, both between parents, educators and children, but also between the two preschools and their surrounding culture. The surrounding culture had a larger impact than expected. The analysis, based on Stern’s theory of intersubjectivity and intercultural perspective, also showed the importance of gifted children to be seen as gifted and to interact with other gifted children.

Examining the Ontoepistemological Underpinnings of Diversity Education Found in Interpersonal Communication Textbooks

Jeffries, Tammy L. 01 January 2013 (has links)
This project examines the ontoepistemological underpinnings of diversity education in the field of communication by focusing on the points where diversity, pedagogy and communication intersect. In this study I seek to understand how we come to know what we know about diversity, or the social construction of differentness, and how we share this information with others. I analyzed three popular interpersonal communication textbooks, examining the patterns revealed in the text, in order to address these questions. This study uses three complimentary methods to reveal the number of occurrences that center on diversity in the text (content analysis), to interpret themes reflected by the patterns discovered in the text (thematic analysis) and a creative twist on the coding process that opens the analysis process to the coders and includes their input as participants to this study (reflexive content analysis). The results of this study revealed three-hundred ten occurrences of the social construction of difference across all three textbooks but only a portion of those, seventy-six, suggested social constructionist underpinnings of these constructs. This study shows how we have missed an opportunity at the introductory level to expand our student's knowledge of issues in diversity.

"Hlavně ať je to dítě zdravé!": Rodičovství v kontextu péče o dítě s chronickou nemocí / "Just let it be a healthy child!": Parenting in the Context of Caring of a Child with a Chronic Illlness

Tampierová, Lenka January 2017 (has links)
My diploma thesis deals with issues of gender relations and the construction of identities of lived experiences of parents caring for a child (children) with a chronic illness. For my qualitative research, I have chosen the method of semi-structured interviews with both parents of the child (children). Subsequent analysis of the data in this empirical study examines the way in which care for a child with chronic illness affects, due to its demanding character, gender relations and whether it leads to more balanced gender relations or vice versa. I also deal with the process of identifying both parents in the day care of a child with chronic illness in the context of a combination of paid work and home care and children. In my work, I see how my communication partners are conceptualizing the chronic illness of the child as a differentness and the care of a child with a chronic illness as a burden. I focus on the emotional plane of parenthood and also analyze the processes of negotiation within different institutions (health and education organizations, state authorities). Key words: Chronic illness, child, parenthood, differentness, burden, care, gender relations

The Difference in Differentness: Low-Risk, High-Budget versus Innovation and Creativity : An exploratory view from a game-designer’s perspective / Skillnaden i olikhet: Lågrisk, Hög-budget versus Innovation och Kreativitet : En utforskande vy från en speldesignersperspektiv

Stojnić, Slavko January 2019 (has links)
With what seems like decades of debate behind us, low-risk, high-budget, high exposure releases are still seen as a threat to creativity, innovation and health of the game industry as a whole. This exploratory pilot study aims to evaluate methods and create instruments which can be used to measure and compare the levels of differentness contained within the AAA and Indie releases. The case studies and surveys performed within this study are assessed as viable instruments for future, confirmatory studies, but with serious limitations outside of the chosen data sample.
