The great amount of data generated as the result of the automation and process supervision in industry implies in two problems: a big demand of storage in discs and the difficulty in streaming this data through a telecommunications link. The lossy data compression algorithms were born in the 90?s with the goal of solving these problems and, by consequence, industries started to use those algorithms in industrial supervision systems to compress data in real time. These algorithms were projected to eliminate redundant and undesired information in a efficient and simple way. However, those algorithms parameters must be set for each process variable, becoming impracticable to configure this parameters for each variable in case of systems that monitor thousands of them. In that context, this paper propose the algorithm Adaptive Swinging Door Trending that consists in a adaptation of the Swinging Door Trending, as this main parameters are adjusted dynamically by the analysis of the signal tendencies in real time. It?s also proposed a comparative analysis of performance in lossy data compression algorithms applied on time series process variables and dynamometer cards. The algorithms used to compare were the piecewise linear and the transforms.

Design thinking and TRIZ integration in the conceptual phase of an automotive new product development process.

Ricardo Henrique da Silva 02 April 2018 (has links)
This research aimed to verify whether the methodology of Design Thinking (DT) and the Theory of Inventive Problem Solving (TRIZ) could be used together synergistically in the conceptual phase of a new product development project (NPD) in the automotive industry through the also know APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) process. The main purpose was to leverage the creativity by generating ideas that are more qualified and, at the same time, select the best product concepts to be taken to the next phases of the NPD. This research seeks to understand within the literature the strengths and limitations of each of the methodologies and, at the same time, a proposal is made on how to integrate them into the APQP methodology. The proposed process is then tested in a project of mass reduction of the door body seal of an automotive vehicle. As shall be demonstrated, the automotive NPD, by using the improvement proposal, will become more effective by leveraging the creativity while consolidates a conceptual stage within the APQP. Through this research, it is concluded that both methodologies are synergistic and, therefore, can bring improvements for the current APQP process by leveraging the quality and assertiveness of the generation of ideas, as well as supporting to select the best concept to be taken to the next phases.

I Have Dreamed a Dream... : An Analysis of H.G. Wells' Short Stories "Mr Skelmersdale in Fairyland", "The Door in the Wall" and "A Dream of Armageddon" / Jag har drömt en dröm... : En analys av H.G. Wells noveller "Mr Skelmersdale in Fairyland", "The Door in the Wall" och "A Dream of Armageddon"

Wallner, Lars January 2008 (has links)
"I Have Dreamed a Dream..." is an analysis of the three short stories "Mr Skelmersdale in Fairyland", "The Door in the Wall" and "A Dream of Armageddon" by H.G. Wells. The essay makes a comparison of the three short stories from the perspectives of the dreamland, the inner struggle of the protagonist and the message of the story. The purpose is to show that the three seemingly similar short stories have different outcomes and deliver different messages to the reader. The essay finally presents a theory of how these messages coincide despite their differences. / "Jag har drömt en dröm..." är en analys av de tre novellerna "Mr Skelmersdale in Fairyland", "The Door in the Wall" och "A Dream of Armageddon" av H.G. Wells.

Projektering av dörrmiljöer - metoder och informationshantering / Design of door environments - methods and information management

Eliasson, Oscar, Söderberg, Adam January 2020 (has links)
Purpose: Construction projects have become more and more complex, with increasing demands on quality, environment, and sustainability. With the development, BIM models have become a major part of the construction projects. The requirements and complexity create large amounts of information in the projects. This makes the models heavy and hard to work with. One subprocess that contributes to the complexity and amount of information is the design of door environments. Because the models are growing, solutions will be designed to facilitate information management linked to the models. One such solution is databases that are linked to the model. The study therefore intends to investigate whether a database service linked to a model can make the design of door environments more effective. Method: To achieve the goal and answer the study's questions, a qualitative approach has been used. A literature study was done to gather facts for problem description and theoretical framework. The empiricism is based on six semi-structured interviews as well as an observation and a test of BIMEYE. Based on the empiricism, the questions and the selected theories, an analysis has been designed. Findings: The result shows that the design of door environments is based on the fact that all requirements are identified at the beginning of a project and that knowledgeable project members are required during door design, in order to identify the functions of the complex door environments. To give a clearer presentation of the doors and their functions, the respondents preferred door environment drawings where each door is presented separately. Problems with coordination of information and information that disappear can be solved by gathering the information in a database so that the information is stored in one place. There it can be made available for processing by everyone involved in the project. The study shows that cloud-based databases linked to BIM models can streamline information management during the design work, as it is the source of information for several different tools. Implications: Door environments will remain complex and contain a large number of functions. To facilitate and streamline the work process, the cloud service BIMEYE or a similar service can be used. Such a service contributes to a more secure information management and will reduce the number of misses during review. When transitioning to a database-based way of working, it is recommended, based on the study's results, that the employees get trained and that a standardized workflow is developed. Limitations: The work was limited to studying the design process for door environments. It is therefore uncertain whether the results of the study can be applied to other sub-processes during the design phase. The study has also been delimited from cloud services other than BIMEYE which may make the result not applicable to other similar services. Furthermore, it cannot be ruled out that the result is not applicable to ArchiCad and Simplebim because the study has focused on Revit and its connection to BIMEYE.

A Protocol Driven Stroke Code's Impact on Door-to-Needle Times

Osborne, Jesse 01 May 2020 (has links)
Tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) is most effective the faster it is able to be administered to a patient that has been affected by stroke. A Stroke Code is a strategy that acute care facilities implement to reduce the time from diagnosing a stroke to administering tPA. The purpose of this study was to determine if the initiation of a Stroke Code in an acute care hospital reduces the door-to-needle time for patients affected by a stroke. In particular, does a Stroke Code reduce door-to-needle times. The research was conducted using data from April 1, 2014 to December 31, 2014 (pre-Stroke Code period) and September 1, 2015 to December 31, 2016 (post-Stroke Code period). The population of this study was treated at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tennessee. The analysis revealed a decrease in door-to-needle times after a Stroke Code was implemented at the acute care facility.

Regulace otáčivých dveří u institucí Evropské Unie / Regulation of 'revolving door' at European Union institutions

Udržal, Jan January 2021 (has links)
This thesis examined the regulation of ‚revolving doors' at European Union institutions, i.e. the fluctuation of personnel between public and private sectors, which threatens the independence of public administration. It adopts the research design of exploratory case study and the methods of doctrinal legal research and qualitative document analysis to build an overview of post-employment rules imposed on public officials of the European Commission, European Parliament, Council and European Central Bank. Contrary to common conceptions, the rules are based on 'hard law' norms. Further, the types of revolving door moves which are prohibited vary among the institutions. Majority of the institutions enjoy a wide discretion in the implementation of the rules but seem to consider them as an internal matter, leaving a lot to be desired from a transparency standpoint. Lastly, a hypothesis of prioritization of revolving door risks by institutions is derived for further inquiry.

Modelování a HIL simulace ovládání pátých dveří osobního automobilu / Modelling and HIL Simulation of Vehicle Boot Door Control

Musil, Filip January 2017 (has links)
This diploma thesis focuses on an analysis, a model creation and simulations of a car boot door mechanism. The problem was analyzed on the basis of real measurements made on three different vehicles. Based on the measurements, computational models describing the real system at different levels of complexity were created. Matlab/Simulink was used to create and calculate the models. The output of the thesis is the simulator of a car boot door which also includes simplified model of a control unit. The simulator should provide an approximation of current and kinematic quantities of these mechanisms. The model is implemented on dSPACE platform that allows real-time simulations. The simulator can be modified in terms of changing the parameters of the mechanism and modifying some of its results.
