El presente trabajo de investigación tiene como principal objetivo presentar al mercado de bebidas, el jugo natural elaborado a base cushuro y aloe vera. Q’shuro, es una opción de bebida alterna con altos niveles proteicos que aporta una alimentación saludable y que se encuentra dirigido a aquellas personas que tengan o deseen tendencias saludables. Es por ello, nuestra propuesta de valor es considerada como innovadora dentro del mercado de bebidas saludables puesto que incluye productos nativos del Perú y frutas oriundas para su elaboración, ofreciendo en el largo plazo un mayor portafolio de productos elaborados a base de nuestro principal insumo: cushuro. El trabajo de investigación cuenta con tres capítulos, los cuales serán presentados a continuación: Capítulo I Fundamentos Iniciales, en donde se presentará a los integrantes que conformaron el grupo académico para el desarrollo del proyecto de investigación al igual que presentar nuestra idea de negocio a los stakeholders. Capítulo II Validación del Modelo de Negocio, en esta sección se analiza los resultados obtenidos por parte de nuestros clientes potenciales en el consumo de nuestra propuesta de bebida. Asimismo, se desarrolla en base a las intenciones de compras recibidas durante las 8 semanas las proyecciones de ventas para los próximos tres años. Capítulo II Desarrollo del Plan del Negocio, en este capítulo se analiza el plan estratégico a realizar para la distribución y venta de nuestro producto al mercado objetivo, así como la programación de las actividades operacionales, recursos humanos, marketing, financiero y de responsabilidad social empresarial a utilizarse durante la realización del proyecto. / The main objective of this research work is to present to the beverage market the natural juice made from cushuro and aloe Vera. Q’shuro, is an alternative drink juice with high protein levels that provides a healthy diet and is aimed at those who have or want healthy trends. That is why our value proposition is considered as innovative within the healthy drinks market since it includes native products from Peru and native fruits for its elaboration, offering in the long term a greater portfolio of products elaborated based on our main input: cushuro. The research work has three chapters, which will be presented below: Chapter I Initial Foundations, where the members who made up the academic group for the development of the research project will be presented as well as presenting our business idea to the stakeholders. Chapter II Validation of the Business Model, this section analyzes the results obtained by our potential customers in the consumption of our beverage proposal. Panic over the pub : drink and the First World War

My Ph. D thesis, Panic over the Pub: Drink and the First World War, considers the causes, consequences and control of popular drinking behaviour and how broader currents of social debate affected the perception of the alleged alcohol problem during the First World War, shedding new light upon government inclinations towards state control during the conflict. Within current historiography there is a consummate lack of understanding concerning the formation of opinion on the drink problem ‘from below’ and its effect upon the ‘high politics’ of the decision making procedure. My thesis considers how ‘drink’ and ‘leisure’ became increasingly contentious and a domestic problem due principally to established fears concerning working class behaviour and military failures on the Western Front. My thesis argues that moral panic, rather than factual certainties, dictated attitudes to drinking in Britain during the war. An investigation of the Central Control Board, a government body established to deal specifically with the drink problem in the exigencies of conflict, constitutes the central core of my thesis, together with an assessment of the role of Lord D’Abernon, Chairman of this organisation.

SANTRAUKA Raktažodžiai: energinis gėrimas, kofeinas, taurinas, vaikai, perdozavimas, alkoholis. Darbo tikslas. Nustatyti gaiviųjų energinių gėrimų vartojimo paplitimą Vilniaus miesto 5-10 klasių mokinių tarpe ir įvertinti jų žinias apie šiuos gėrimus. Metodai. Tyrimas atliktas anoniminės anketinės apklausos būdu. Anketą sudarė 35 klausimai. Apklausti 1837 trylikos Vilniaus miesto ugdymo įstaigų 5 – 10 klasių mokiniai. Surinktų anketų duomenys buvo apdoroti naudojantis statistinio paketo SPSS 17.0 versija. Kokybiniams dydžiams tirti, požymių homogeniškumui grupėse tikrinti, ryšiui tarp kintamųjų įvertinti naudotas Chi kvadrato (&#61539;2) testas, o mažiems skaičiams (n < 5) – Fišerio (F) tikslusis testas. Rezultatų skirtumas tarp kintamųjų laikytas statistiškai reikšmingu, kai p &#8804; 0,05. Ieškant statistinių-koreliacinių ryšių tarp kintamųjų, apskaičiavimams naudotas statistinis ryšio stiprumą ir kryptį rodantis Spearmano koreliacijos koeficientas. Dviejų nepriklausomų imčių neparametriniam palyginimui buvo naudojamas Mann’o ir Whitney U testas, o daugiau negu dviem nepriklausomoms imtims palyginti – Kruscal’o ir Wallis’o testas. Rezultatai. Nustatyta, kad energinius gėrimus vartojo 32,8 proc. mokinių, juos buvo vartoję, bet nebevartojo tyrimo metu 34,4 proc. ir niekada nevartojo – 32,8 proc. respondentų. Juos vartojo statistiškai reikšmingai daugiau berniukų negu mergaičių ir 7 – 10 klasių mokinių negu 5, 6 klasių. Daugiausiai respondentų energinius gėrimus vartojo 1 k... The aim of the paper: Ascertain the prevalence of energy drinks consumption among the 5 – 10 th form pupils in Vilnius city and evaluate their knowledge about these drinks. Methods: A method of anonymous questionnaires was used, made up of 35 questions. 1837, 5-10 form pupils of 13 educational institutions in Vilnius city were questioned. For data analysis SPSS program version 17.0. was used. Qualitative coherence between variables is established by Chi-square (&#61539;2) test, while small numbers (n less 5) by Fisher’s (F) exact test. Disparity of result between variables assessed statistically important, when p &#8804; 0.05. Searching for statistical – correlative relationship between variables, for computation Spearman’s correlation coefficient. of statistical connection intensity and direction was used. The Mann Whitney U test of two independent samples of non-parametric comparison was used and for more than two independent samples – Kruskal Wallis test. Results: Ascertained, that energy drinks are used by 32.8 % schoolchildren, were using, but have not used during testing 34.4 % and 32.8 % of respondents had never used. Statistics show more significant consumption among boys than girls and more of 7-10 forms schoolchildren in comparison with 5-6 forms. Functional properties of whey protein and its application in nanocomposite materials and functional foods

Whey is a byproduct of cheese making; whey proteins are globular proteins which can be modified and polymerized to add functional benefits, these benefits can be both nutritional and structural in foods. Modified proteins can be used in non-foods, being of particular interest in polymer films and coatings. Food packaging materials, including plastics, can linings, interior coatings of paper containers, and beverage cap sealing materials, are generally made of synthetic petroleum based compounds. These synthetic materials may pose a potential human health risk due to presence of certain chemicals such as Bisphenol A (BPA). They also add to environmental pollution, being difficult to degrade. Protein-based materials do not have the same issues as synthetics and so can be used as alternatives in many packaging types. As proteins are generally hydrophilic they must be modified structurally and their performance enhanced by the addition of waterproofing agents. Polymerization of whey proteins results in a network, adding both strength and flexibility. The most interesting of the food-safe waterproofing agents are the (large aspect ratio) nanoclays. Nanoclays are relatively inexpensive, widely available and have low environmental impact. The clay surface can be modified to make it organophilic and so compatible with organic polymers. The objective of this study is the use of polymerized whey protein (PWP), with reinforcing nanoclays, to produce flexible surface coatings which limit the transfer of contents while maintaining food safety. Four smectite and kaolin type clays, one treated and three natural were assessed for strengthening qualities and the potential waterproofing and plasticizing benefits of other additives were also analyzed. The nutritional benefits of whey proteins can also be used to enhance the protein content of various foodstuffs. Drinkable yogurt is a popular beverage in the US and other countries and is considered a functional food, especially when produced with probiotic bacteria. Carbonation was applied to a drinkable yogurt to enhance its benefits. This process helps reduce the oxygen levels in the foodstuff thus potentially being advantageous to the microaerophilic probiotic bacteria while simultaneously producing a product, somewhat similar to kefir, which has the potential to fill a niche in the functional foods market. Yogurt was combined with a syrup to reduce its viscosity, making it drinkable, and also to allow infusion of CO2. This dilution reduced the protein content of the drink and so whey protein concentrate was added to increase levels in the final product. High-methoxyl pectins were used to provide stability by reducing the tendency of the proteins to sediment out. The objectives of this study were to develop a manufacturing technology for drinkable carbonated symbiotic yogurts, and to evaluate their physicochemical properties. Two flavors of yogurt drink, pomegranate and vanilla, were formulated containing inulin as prebiotic, along with probiotic bacteria, producing symbiotic dairy beverages.

THE CONSEQUENCES OF ALCOHOL MIXED WITH ENERGY DRINK (AMED) USE IN COLLEGE STUDENTS WITH ATTENTION-DEFICIT/HYPERACTIVITY DISORDER (ADHD)

College students with ADHD, but especially those who consume alcohol, may be at jeopardy for experiencing negative educational and occupational outcomes, problematic substance use, criminal offending, and sexual victimization. Alcohol mixed with energy drink (AmED) use is widespread across college campuses and associated with many of these same problematic outcomes. The risk of experiencing these consequences for college students with ADHD may be exacerbated by AmED use given its unique relationship, above and beyond alcohol use, with these variables. This study sought to examine relationships among GPA, lost work performance, hazardous alcohol use, illicit substance use, criminal offending, and sexual victimization in college students with ADHD who use AmED. The sample comprised students (N = 248; 36.3% male, 63.7% female) from the University of Albany’s (UAlbany) and Virginia Commonwealth University’s (VCU) disability support centers, as well as VCU’s SONA psychology subject pool. Hierarchical linear regression analysis and logistic regression analysis were used to test six hypotheses. Results showed that AmED use did not predict GPA, lost work performance, or criminal offending. However, AmED use did predict hazardous alcohol use (p < .001), illicit substance use (p < .05), and sexual victimization (p < .05). These findings provide a baseline rate of AmED use in college students with ADHD, and highlight the importance of further research regarding the potential consequences of AmED use in this population.
