Critical Area Driven Dummy Fill Insertion to Improve Manufacturing Yield

Dhumane, Nishant 01 January 2012 (has links) (PDF)
Non-planar surface may cause incorrect transfer of patterns during lithography. In today’s IC manufacturing, chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) is used for topographical planarization. Since polish rates for metals and oxides are different, dummy metal fills in layout is used to minimize post-CMP thickness variability. Traditional metal fill solutions focus on satisfying density target determined by layout density analysis techniques. These solutions may potentially reduce yield by increasing probability of failure (POF) due to particulate defects and also impact design performance. Layout design solutions that minimize POF and also improve surface planarity via dummy fill insertions have competing requirements for line spacing. In this thesis, I present a formulation to balance these competing goals and provide a comparative study of greedy (or fixed spacing), variable spacing and LP formulation based fill insertions based on scalability and quality of solution. I extend the variable spacing fill to allow non-preferred direction routing of fill patterns in order to further improve the CA. Traditional fill solutions impact design performance due to increase coupling capacitance on signal nets. I present a fill insertion algorithm that minimizes this increase in coupling capacitance due to fill. Finally, I extend the critical area based solution to include SRAF insertion in order to account for optical diffraction in lithography. Thus the proposed solution addresses both lithography and particulate related defects and minimizes the fill impact on design performance at the same time. Experimental results based on layout of ISCAS 85 benchmark circuits show that the variable spacing and the LP formulation based fill insertion techniques result in substantially reduced critical area while satisfying the layout density and uniformity criteria. The coupling capacitance minimization fill solution reduces the fill impact on coupling capacitance while at the same time minimizing the critical area.

Hsiao Lin Unknown Date (has links)
The main purpose of this study is to inquire into the style about the teachers' mobility and the factors affecting such mobility. Sampling from 1994 academic year in Taiwan, the researcher focuses on the 384 cases of all mobilized teachers and their counterpart-380 nonmobilized cases. A dummy dependent regression analysis is conducted to explore the factors. As a result, the phenomenon for mobility tends to flow into the metropolis. Factors affecting the mobility exhibits significant differences compared to nonmobility; such as factors among sex, seniority, marriage, inhibition, frequcncy of mobility and the scale of the school. In additions, the propensity to mobile, as this study finds, has to do with their sex, seniority, marriage and the labor participation of spouse, frequcency of mobility, degree of the content about their wages and welfare, and the scale of the school. The conclusions made here are: the human resources in education is still scanty. From the factors influenced mobility probability, it can provide some clues to make the human resources in education more equal.

Elförbrukningen i svenska hushåll : En analys inom projektet ”Förbättrad energistatistik i bebyggelsen” för Energimyndigheten / Electricity consumption in Swedish households : An analysis in the project “Improved energy statistics for settlements” for the Swedish Energy Agency

Nilsson, Josefine, Xie, Jing January 2012 (has links)
The Swedish Energy Agency conducted a project which is called “Improved energy statistics for settlements”. This report focuses on one field of the project: “households’ electricity use on device level”. Various regression models are used in the analysis to analyze the relationship between electricity usage and different explanatory variables, for instance: background variables for the household, type of household, geographical setting, usage of different electrical devices and quantity of electrical devices used.  The data material consists of 389 households which are spread around the region of Märlardalen except for a few households from the communities of Kiruna and Malmö. The conclusion we can draw from this thesis shows that the background variables for a household, its type, its geographical setting and the amount and type of devices it contains all have a contribution to the electricity usage in the household. / Förbättrad energistatistik i bebyggelsen

Influence of retraint systems during an automobile crash : prediction of injuries for frontal impact sled tests based on biomechanical data mining / Infkuence des systèmes de retenue lors d'un accident automobile : Prédiction des blessures de l'occupant lors d'essais catapultés frontaux basées sur le data mining

Cridelich, Carine caroline 17 December 2015 (has links)
Safety is one of the most important considerations when buying a new car. The car has to achievecrash tests defined by the legislation before being selling in a country, what drives to the developmentof safety systems such as airbags and seat belts. Additionally, ratings like EURO NCAP and US NCAPenable to provide an independent evaluation of the car safety. Frontal sled tests are thus carried outto confirm the protection level of the vehicle and the results are mainly based on injury assessmentreference values derived from physical parameters measured in dummies. This doctoral thesis presents an approach for the treatment of the input data (i.e. parameters ofthe restraint systems defined by experts) followed by a classification of frontal sled tests accordingto those parameters. The study is only based on data from the passenger side, the collected datafor the driver were not enough completed to produce satisfying results. The main objective is tocreate a model that evaluates the input parameters’ influence on the injury severity and helps theengineers having a prediction of the sled tests results according to the chosen legislation or rating. The dummy biomechanical values (outputs of the model) have been regrouped into clusters in orderto define injuries groups. The model and various algorithms have been implemented in a GraphicalUser Interface for a better practical daily use.
