Sob medida: uma etnografia da prática da alfaiataria / Bespoke: an ethnography of tailoring practice

Valéria Oliveira Santos 20 February 2018 (has links)
Based on ethnographic research data from Curitiba\'s tailors, this work explores the skills and techniques associated with the tailoring process, with the goal of understanding to understand how gestures, materials and work tools interact with each other producing not only clothes, but also the tailors themselves and the bodies of their respective clients. Reflection is devoted on the investigation of these practices as processes of knowledge production, and is in tune with the propositions that rethink the relationship between man and matter. The central axis of observation follows the suggestion of Tim Ingold (2013) that doing is a process of correspondence between the maker and material, not imposition or application of prior knowledge. It is suggested that the client\'s body and the tailor\'s capabilities are modeled by tailor-made clothing in the compromises established between suits, tailors and clients. In the end, it is intended to contribute to the understanding of the recent transformations of this field of work, especially with regard to the emergence of new ways of practicing tailoring.

The methodology adopted was to hold various laboratory tests: characterization of each constituent material of the CAA; the rheological properties of SCC; and mechanical, physical and chemical properties in the hardened state of SCC. Two superplasticizers have been applied, one on the base and other salts of sulphonated polymer based whose optimum content was determined by testing the slurry Marsh cone. The coarse aggregates and kids were characterized by assays granulometry, specific weight; unit mass in loose state; and unitary mass compressed and dry. The WMG were subjected to density testing and analysis of Fluorescence X Ray. For fresh SCC in the following tests were performed: scattering, scattering T500, V funnel and L box; and Testing of Compressive Strength and flexion, absorption, voids index and the SCC Density in the hardened state, as well as tests on mortar bars to check possible Alkali Aggregate Reaction (AAR). The results were effective for most traits SCC, up to 30% of the cement replacement by WMG when the additive polymer base was used, and up to 20% replacement when the superplasticizer was sulfonated. Fresh in this SCC met the requirements of ISO 15823, behaving like proper concrete for use in most current applications. In the hardened state near showed compressive strength of 35 MPa, may also be used in the production of concrete floors. The resistance to bending achieved in around 7.0 MPa and satisfy the Brazilian standard 15805. For absorption values were comprised between 4.0% and 5.0%, lower than the values found in the literature, for voids and density values were close to other research, 10%. In AAR tests achieved the expansion was less than 0.10%, and the waste classified as harmless by Brazilian standard 15577-4. With the above it can be said that the residues from marble shops may have an alternative destination in civil construction.

The perceived proficiency of newly-qualified somatology graduates in using electrical equipment in the modern health and skincare industry

Campbell, Debra Elizabeth 18 April 2013 (has links)
M.Tech. (Somatology) / The somatology industry has seen a rapid advancement in the use of technology to address physical concerns of clients in terms of addressing the visible signs of skin ageing, issues around centimetre reduction, cellulite and other aspects. In South Africa, the Somatology curricula vary between public and private higher education institutions. Even more diversity has been noted within the private somatology higher education providers. The electrical equipment curriculum that is taught in specifically nationally and/or internationally accredited private institutions has not been updated in years and is perceived as outdated. These students are still being taught and examined on electrical equipment that was popular during the 1980’s and that have since been replaced with updated and modern machines. The purpose of this study was to establish the perceived proficiency of newly-qualified nationally and/or internationally accredited graduates in using electrical equipment currently used in the modern health and skincare industry. This study made use of a mixed method design, incorporating three different data-collection techniques. These techniques included unstructured and semi-structured personal telephone interviews and structured questionnaires. Collecting data from three perspectives allowed for triangulation, ensuring validity and reliability. The results of this study concluded that the graduates, from selected specified nationally and/or internationally accredited private higher education institutions, did not deem themselves to be proficient in the use of modern electrical equipment. This sentiment was supported by their employers in the health and skincare industry, and verified by the lecturers who facilitated their learning during their two-year qualification.

Alarcón Díaz, Stephanie Jordana, Chavez Flores, Mirella Alexandra, Polo Riega, Claudia Alexandra, Porles Rivera, Joshep Andre, Vilca Ramos, Sebastian Rodrigo 28 November 2019 (has links)
This project is a mobile application aimed at addressing the problem of organic waste by coffee shops and patisseries. Based on the research carried out in North Lima to the NSE “C”, it was detected that these businesses discarded surpluses of unsold production and that there were customers eager to acquire these dishes or desserts at a reduced price. Likewise, it was identified that users have less and less time to physically go to the business since they prefer to prioritize their daily activities. Therefore, they decide to place their orders online or through applications on their cell phones. Finally, under this worldwide trend of online application downloading and the increasing use of smartphones by the socioeconomic level "C" it was decided to develop Cheap App which will show the products of all the coffee shops and patisseries affiliated in a radius close to the User location with offers and discounts minimum of 30% of the original price. To launch this project an analysis of the industry was made: consumer, competitors and other external factors. In addition, the following plans were developed: Strategic Plan, Operations Plan, Marketing Plan, Human Resources Plan and Corporate Social Responsibility and the Financial Plan. Which contain the necessary actions for the viability of this project. As a result, after an initial investment of S /. 69,382 in 2019 there will be a net profit of S / .50,231 for 2022, S / .90,728 for 2023 and S / .148,540 for 2024. / Trabajo de investigación
