As a result, we conclude that it can be considered as a training program to the teachers once by the influence that it performs on the school s political pedagogic program it can define the didactics choices of the teachers allowing them to get a critical view about the traditional curricula in order to build a new point of view which reflects the whishes of the school s community. We still realized that the energy of the teacher s updating process requires a constant building of their pedagogic knowledge further than their specific issues making mandatory the immersion in the reality. However, only being exposed to the news doesn t add pedagogic values to the teaching practice. Thus, the curricula of the programs of teaching education must explore that resource as a fundamental strategy to get its aims. We worked with the so called Jornal, Escola e Comunidade program of the newspaper A Tribuna de Santos, SP and the study that we have done involved the analysis about the potential use of newspapers in classes and the identification of the characteristics which contributes to set up a teaching education program. Besides that we have done a documental research to present this program and we also interviewed some teachers who work in a public school of Mongaguá, a small city on the Mata Atlântica Coast, at the seaside of São Paulo / Considerada a possibilidade de mais de uma estratégia para o aperfeiçoamento da prática docente, este trabalho teve como objetivo, investigar as contribuições que um programa não escolarizado, emanado de um jornal diário e elaborado para conquistar leitores pode acrescentar à prática dos professores. Além destas contribuições, e em decorrência delas, através da pesquisa, concluiu-se que o referido programa pode ser considerado um programa de formação de professores, já que, exercendo influência sobre o projeto político pedagógico da escola, determina as escolhas didáticas dos professores e possibilita-lhes iniciar-se nas práticas da resistência aos modelos cristalizados de currículo e da construção de uma voz que reflita os anseios da comunidade escolar. Constatou-se ainda que embora o dinamismo das demandas de atualização dos professores requeira que seu conhecimento pedagógico deva permanecer em constante construção, para além deste conhecimento específico, torna-se imperativa sua imersão na realidade. Entretanto, somente a exposição às notícias veiculadas pelo jornal diário não agrega à prática docente valores pedagógicos. É preciso que o currículo dos programas de formação de professores preveja a exploração desse cotidiano como estratégia fundamental para atingir seus objetivos. O programa selecionado, denominado Jornal, Escola e Comunidade é mantido pelo jornal A Tribuna, de Santos, SP, e o caminho percorrido até estas conclusões envolveu um estudo sobre o potencial do uso do jornal na sala de aula; o levantamento de características que concorrem para que um programa de formação de professores se estabeleça; pesquisa documental para apresentar o programa em foco e entrevistas com docentes que atuam em uma escola pública localizada no município de Mongaguá, na Costa da Mata Atlântica, SP

Culturally responsive education has been an actual topic in teacher education for decades, but most teachers still finish their education without appropriate knowledge and skills for teaching in culturally and linguistically diverse classrooms. Providing quality education to diverse learners remains a challenge, particularly in the fields of mathematics and sciences. The purpose of this systematic literature review was to describe intervention programs preparing in-service and pre-service math and science teachers for teaching in culturally diverse classrooms, and the outcomes of such programs. A search for scholarly journals evaluating such intervention programs has been carried out in several databases, resulting in nine articles included in the analysis. Intervention programs described in these articles covered several important aspects of culturally relevant education and had a limited success in developing cultural responsiveness of teachers. The construct of culturally relevant education is complex and multi-layered, and thus hard to measure without simplifying it to measurable constructs. Limitations of the study and implications for the future research and practice are discussed.

One of the U.S. Army's requirements for reenlistment of first term soldiers is a minimum score on the General Technical composite of the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery of one hundred. The score is a measure of academic ability. The primary goal of the Basic Skills Education Program is to assist the soldier in gaining basic skills, with a secondary goal of enabling him or her to retest at a sufficient level to become eligible for reenlistment. While most soldiers are able to meet this goal, a few are unable to achieve an acceptable score on the retest. It was hypothesized that some of these soldiers are learning disabled. The Army has not recognized learning disabilities or the need of the learning disabled for special teaching and testing methods. This study was designed to identify students enrolled in the Basic Skills Education Program who are learning disabled. Two instruments were involved: the Revised BETA II, which yields a measure of aptitude, and the Tests of Adult Basic Education, which produce achievement scores in the areas of reading, mathematics, language, and spelling. The instruments were correlated on 112 soldiers from the Training Brigade at Fort Bliss, Texas. They were then administered to 100 first term soldiers enrolled in the Basic Skills Education Program at Fort Bliss. Two formulae acceptable in the field of learning disabilities were applied to the results. The Frequency of Regression Prediction Discrepancy model identified nine soldiers as learning disabled in ten academic areas. The Standard Score Difference model, which does not account for regression, identified sixteen soldiers in twenty four areas. With evidence that learning disabled soldiers exist in the Basic Skills Education Program, recommendations were made that the U. S. Army recognize and address learning disabilities and incorporate appropriate testing and teaching methods to accommodate those soldiers.

STRAŠÁKOVÁ, Lenka. Topical walks with preschool children oriented to environmental activities. [Diploma Dissertation]. Praha: Fakulty of Education University of Praha, 2010. 126 pp. The main goal of this diploma thesis is the global observation of the nature while going out with children at kindergarten. Current curriculum is part of this thesis because kindergarten teachers have to plan and realize all the activities in relation to the recent curriculum. New possibilities for the pedagogical activities are compared as well. In the theoretical part of my thesis, I am dealing with the main issues in relation to the chosen topic. The idea is backed up by available literature. In the practical part of my thesis, I am using questionnaires. The purpose is to find out whether the kindergarten teachers globally plan the observation of the nature in their education programs. The evaluation is included as well. The evaluation should be used to plan the activities which will be further planned and carried out. The aim of the thesis entitled ''Education and training of staff in the MoD'' is to analyze the current staff activities in the examined sector and to determine their development. In the first part are analyzed structural and legislative terms of the Ministry of Defense. Further the staff and the requirements imposed on it are analyzed. In conclusion, analyzing the factors motivating the new incoming employees, are mentioned. The work contains recommended methods for solving the current situation and the methods oriented to the long-term development of personal function too.
