Babou, Saliou N. 08 1900 (has links)
The objective of this study is to determine whether the International Labour Organization (ILO) conventions are effective in the eradication of child labour in Mauritania. Such effectivity is assessed by measuring the legal reception and the social reception in Mauritania of the Convention 29 on Forced Labour, the Convention 138 on Minimum Age for Admission to Employment, and the Convention 182 on the Prohibition and Immediate Action for the Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labour. The legal reception is measured by a review of the integration of their provisions into Mauritanian law. The legal reception also includes the assessment of the monitoring of compliance with the conventions in Mauritania. The social reception refers, for its part, to the strategies taken by the Mauritanian government to implement ILO Conventions, notably through its programs and policies. Our analysis shows that the effectivity of Conventions 29, 138 and 182 regarding the eradication of child labour in Mauritania are, in our view, partial. Overall, the situation is improving and the Mauritanian government tries to respect the spirit of these conventions and incorporate them in the national law. However, there is not much information available on the impact of the programs in place to eradicate child labour.

Made available in DSpace on 2015-07-22T20:50:00Z (GMT). / Objective: Evaluate the effectiveness of a food and nutrition educational program in the increase of the consumption of vegetables by school children. Methods: This is a longitudinal randomized controlled study performed in 280 (two hundred and eighty) children, of both genders, aged between 11 (eleven) and 12 (twelve) years old, students of 03 (three) fundamental education schools of São Paulo city, from February to September 2007. At first, all students answered the Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ) and than were divided randomly in two different groups: intervention and control group. After that, the intervention group was submitted to a Food and Nutritional Education Program based on ludo pedagogical activities. After 05 (five) months, the Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ) was applied again, in order to verify the effectiveness of the food and nutritional education program in increasing the consumption of vegetables. Results: It was observed that in the interventional group, an increase of the consumption of vegetables was significantly bigger than in the control group, indicating that the ludo pedagogical activities may have influenced the children’s eating habit in a positive way. In the control group there were no significant changes. Regarding school children that didn’t have the habit of consuming vegetables, it was observed that in the intervention group the introduction of the consumption of different kinds of vegetable (chard/cabbage, beet, avocado, papaya, mango and strawberry), was greater then in the control group, indicating that the educational intervention method may also have influenced this change. Conclusion: The food and nutrition education based on ludo pedagogical activities is effective in relation to vegetables, both for increasing the previously consumed amount and for the acceptance of different vegetables by school children. / TEDE / BV UNIFESP: Teses e dissertações

The Activity-based Workspace Effect on Organisational Behaviour : A Case Study of Kognity

Färm Grufman, Nici, Roth de Albuquerque, Sara January 2018 (has links)
In light of contradictory findings in previous research regarding the activity-based workspaces’ effect on organisational behaviour, this study applies The Activity-based Flexible Office Model on the company Kognity, which recently implemented this office concept. The purpose is to test if this may increase understanding of consequences on organisational behaviour from implementing an activity-based workspace. Semi-structured interviews and observations at Kognity are used as methods for the collection of data for the study. As secondary data, results from web-based surveys conducted by Kognity are used. Furthermore, previous research within the field of organisational behaviour and activity-based office concepts are used to give the study credibility and to gain a deeper insight of the topic. The theoretical framework for this study is based on The Activity Based Flexible Office Model and Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs Theory. The conclusion is that the activity-based workspace does affect organisational behaviour. Applying the Activity Based Flexible Office Model increases the understanding of what the implementation of an activity-based workspace may lead to in terms of organisational behaviour. The model is a useful tool which shows that task-related moderators can determine in what extent the workspace effects organisational behaviour, depends on individual values and task requirements. Further, application of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs shows that the higher needs in Maslow’s hierarchy of needs may be met through the freedom of choice within an activity-based workspace.

A posteriori error estimations for the generalized finite element method and modified versions / Estimativas de erro a-posteriori para o método dos elementos finitos generalizados e versões modificadas

Rafael Marques Lins 07 August 2015 (has links)
This thesis investigates two a posteriori error estimators, based on gradient recovery, aiming to fill the gap of the error estimations for the Generalized FEM (GFEM) and, mainly, its modified versions called Corrected XFEM (C-XFEM) and Stable GFEM (SGFEM). In order to reach this purpose, firstly, brief reviews regarding the GFEM and its modified versions are presented, where the main advantages attributed to each numerical method are highlighted. Then, some important concepts related to the error study are presented. Furthermore, some contributions involving a posteriori error estimations for the GFEM are shortly described. Afterwards, the two error estimators hereby proposed are addressed focusing on linear elastic fracture mechanics problems. The first estimator was originally proposed for the C-XFEM and is hereby extended to the SGFEM framework. The second one is based on a splitting of the recovered stress field into two distinct parts: singular and smooth. The singular part is computed with the help of the J integral, whereas the smooth one is calculated from a combination between the Superconvergent Patch Recovery (SPR) and Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) techniques. Finally, various numerical examples are selected to assess the robustness of the error estimators considering different enrichment types, versions of the GFEM, solicitant modes and element types. Relevant aspects such as effectivity indexes, error distribution and convergence rates are used for describing the error estimators. The main contributions of this thesis are: the development of two efficient a posteriori error estimators for the GFEM and its modified versions; a comparison between the GFEM and its modified versions; the identification of the positive features of each error estimator and a detailed study concerning the blending element issues.
