User Experience Evaluation in Mobile Industry

Mansoor, Ali, Mahboob, Zahid January 2011 (has links)
Context: The Telecommunication industry has experienced a great revolution since last decade. Mobile devices become the new fashion trend and play a vital role in every one´s life. Due to this reason, major industry experts predict the upcoming time to be the time of Mobile Industry. The success of mobile industry is by and large dependent on its consumers. Therefore it is necessary for the vendors to focus on their target audience i.e. what are the needs and requirements of their consumers and how they feel and perceive about their products. UX evaluation of mobile products and services (MPS) can help the organizations for developing more user friendly products and services that can meet the user expectations, needs and acceptance. Objectives: In this thesis study, one of our main focuses was to explore different definitions and concepts of UX present in academia, ISO and other standards. Also, we were interested to identify different UXEMs and the UX role in mobile industry in order to develop a better understanding about the importance of UX in the success of Mobile products and services (MPS). Methods: An exploratory case study was carried out to answer the research questions of this thesis study. At the end, the results of the case study were evaluated from a workshop, held at Ericsson AB (Karlskrona). On the basis of case study and workshop, final results are presented. Results: During this thesis study, we have proposed an initial framework to understand UX. We have also proposed a toolkit of UXEMs that can provide guideline about UXEMs i.e. which UXEM is suitable for which factor of UX and during which phase of development life cycle. Conclusions: In academia (literature), different definitions and terminologies are present for UX but still no consensus is found on one single definition of UX. In academia, different authors have identified different UX factors that may influence the UX in adoption of MPS. Through Case Study, we identified different UXEMs and UX evaluation criteria that are used to capture the UX. We have presented different UX factors that need to be focused for evaluating UX in Mobile Industry. We conclude that there is a need of such UXEM or UXEMs that can capture the broader picture of UX as most of the identified UXEMs were only useful to measure some of the UX factors. After conducting workshop at Ericsson AB (Karlskrona), we conclude that there is need to make industry and academia more closer for developing good understanding about UX i.e. still industry people are not much familiar with different UXEMs and UX factors .

Evaluation methods for procurement of business critical software systems

Rosén, Nils January 2009 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to explore what software evaluation methods are currently available that can assist organizations and companies in procuring a software solution for some particular task or purpose for a specific type of business. The thesis is based on a real-world scenario where a company, Volvo Technology Corporation (VTEC), is in the process of selecting a new intellectual property management system for their patent department. For them to make an informed decision as to which system to choose, an evaluation of market alternatives needs to be done. First, a set of software evaluation methods and techniques are chosen for further evaluation. An organizational study, by means of interviews where questions are based on the ISO 9126-1 Software quality model, is then conducted, eliciting user opinions about the current system and what improvements a future system should have. The candidate methods are then evaluated based on the results from the organizational study and other pertinent factors in order to reach a conclusion as to which method is best suited for this selection problem. The Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) is deemed the best choice.

Edema na face e pescoço após esvaziamento cervical com ou sem ressecção da veia jugular interna / Facial and neck edema after neck dissection with or without internal jugular vein resection

Mozzini, Carolina Barreto 14 October 2011 (has links)
During neck dissection, besides the lymphatic tissue, some non-lymphatic structures of the neck are at injury risk or are resected, such as the internal jugular vein. This is directly related to venous and lymphatic drainage of face and neck, and, thus, resection may cause venous congestion, facial and laryngeal edema, visual disturbances and cerebral edema. There are several techniques to evaluate the edema; however, there are no reports of a particular technique that can be used in the facial region. This study aimed to quantify edema in specific points sited at the face and neck of patients who underwent neck dissection with or without resection of the internal jugular vein. METHODS: These study uses an objective method of facial and neck edema measurement of patients at pre and postoperative of unilateral or bilateral neck dissection with or without internal jugular vein resection, for malignancies at the head and neck level and with no previous neck treatment, through a device that assess the skin dielectric constant and subcutaneous fat in four stages: preoperative, 3rd, 10th and 30th postoperative days, in patients treated at the A. C. Camargo Hospital Head and Neck Department, Sao Paulo, Brazil. RESULTS: There were 51 patients prospectively evaluated; mostly males (68.6%) with mean age of 55.7 years (median of 54 years). It was verified that differences on tissue dielectric constant were not statistically different between patients with and without internal jugular vein resection; however, in patients undergone unilateral neck dissection there was significant edema between pre and postoperative both in those with preserved vein as in those with resection, as well as in bilateral with vein preservation, affecting the general quality of life and the one related to appearance in both groups. It was also found that edema seems to be unavoidable after the procedure, as it was evidenced significantly in patients undergoing radical neck dissection, modified radical and selective. CONCLUSION: No significant difference was observed in face and neck edema after neck dissection in patients with or without internal jugular vein resection, however, there is difference between pre and postoperative in each group regardless of the preservation or not of the vein, where the most affected points are mandible and neck

Effects of Structural Codifying in the Design Critiquing Process : An Exploratory Study with Jonas Löwgren’s Aesthetic Interaction Qualities

Papp, Kornelia January 2021 (has links)
This thesis begins by underlining the current methods and procedures in design evaluation as well as how design aesthetics is generally assessed. Then, it suggests the revision of current web design evaluation practices. The thesis explores a new method of incorporating Löwgren’s aesthetics of interaction attributes to help facilitate more eventful conversations within inter- and cross-departmental discussions, with the belief that such a process will manifest into more favorable design results and prevent friction during collaborative work due to incompatibility in technical jargon.

Systémy pro určení rytmických struktur v hudebních nahrávkách / Beat tracking systems for music recordings

Staňková, Karolína January 2021 (has links)
This master thesis deals with systems for detecting rhythmic structures of music recordings. The field of Music Information Retrieval (MIR) allows us to examine the harmonic and tonal properties of music, rhythm, tempo, etc., and has uses in academic and commercial sphere. Various algorithms are used in the detection of rhythmic structures. However, today, most new methods use neural networks. This work aims to summarize the current research results of systems for detecting beats and tempo, to describe methods of calculating and evaluating the parameters of music recordings, and to implement a program that allows comparison of available detection systems. The result of the work is a script in the Python language, which uses six different systems to detect the rhythmic structure of test recordings. It then checks the outputs of the algorithms according to the given reference and compares the given systems with each other using several evaluation values. It uses two datasets as a reference—one of them is publicly available and the other was created by the author of this thesis (including annotations, i.e., reference beat times, for the sample recordings). The program allows user to see the results in graphs and play any of the sample recordings with detected beat times.
