Hyolaryngeal Excursion as the Physiological Source of Accelerometry Signals during Swallowing

Zoratto, Dana Christine Bech-Hansen 18 February 2010 (has links)
Swallowing dysfunction, or dysphagia, can result from any structural or neurological impairment that affects the swallowing mechanism. Accelerometry is a non-invasive technique that may be used to measure the epidermal vibration signals on a patient’s throat during swallowing. The purpose of this study was to map out the trajectories of the hyoid bone and arytenoids during swallowing to determine if a relationship exists between their trajectories and the signals obtained from an accelerometer placed on a participant’s neck during a scheduled videofluoroscopic swallowing study. Participants included 43 adult patients with neurogenic dysphagia. A software program was created to track the desired anatomy on the videofluoroscopic videos frame-by-frame. The data from the software was then compared to the integrated acceleration data multiple linear regression. The results show that the hyoid and larynx are not always correlated during swallowing and further suggest hyolaryngeal excursion as the primary physiological source of accelerometry.

Voda v krajině - výukový program pro žáky ZŠ / Water in the landscape - educational projects for pupils of basic schools

Papežová, Nikola January 2016 (has links)
Papežová Nikola: Water in the landscape - educational projects for pupils of basic schools Diploma Thesis, 2016 Faculty of Education, Charles Univerzity in Prague, Department of Biology and Environmental Studies Supervisor: prof. RNDr. Lubomír Hanel, CSc. The aim of the diploma thesis is to create the unit plan, which is mainly intended for students in 5 th grades of Czech primary schools. Educational programs have been created for conditions in terms of the analysis of the topic of Water in the landscape. The practical outcome of this work is the development of two educational programs - Life in wetlands and Waterworld (methodology for teachers). Furthermore, there are worksheets which were used in the context of the pretest, posttest-1 and posttest - 2 to evaluate effectiveness of proposed programs. Educational programs were practically tested in a selected group of 5th grade students at primary school. Key words: water, landscape, educational program, worksheets

MISE EN ŒUVRE ET OPTIMISATION DES PLANS DE CONTRÔLE DYNAMIQUE DANS LA FABRICATION DES SEMI-CONDUCTEURS / IMPLEMENTING AND OPTIMIZING DYNAMIC CONTROL PLANS IN SEMICONDUCTOR MANUFACTURING

Nduhura Munga, Justin 09 October 2012 (has links)
In this thesis, we have worked on the problem of implementing dynamic control plans in a high-mix semiconductor environment. We focused on the trade-off between yield and cycle time, the minimization of the number of controls without added value, and the optimization of the use of inspection capacity. We started our works by formalizing and generalizing the problem through a literature review. Then, we proposed three main solutions to industrially implement dynamic control plan policies. The first solution we proposed is based on an indicator that enables a very large amount of data to be handled and several risk types assessed with little CPU. The second solution is based on smart sampling algorithms we developed to enable the dynamic selection of the best products or lots to control in real time. And the third solution is a mixed-integer linear programming model we developed to optimize the key parameters that are used in the smart sampling algorithms. The originality of this thesis lies in the industrial implementation of the general solutions we proposed. All solutions have been industrially validated and some of the solutions have been extended to other sites of the company. Several perspectives have been highlighted and offer numerous avenues for further works.

Sestavení a ověření modelu přírodovědné exkurze pro posluchače výchovy ke zdraví v NP Šumava / Arrangement and proving of nature excursion model for students of education for health in the National park Šumava.

KUČEROVÁ, Martina January 2013 (has links)
This thesis deals with the arrangement and proving of examples of nature excursions for the course methods of natural excursions for students of Health education in the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice, within the area of Sumava National Park and Sumava Landscape Protected Area. The model course is designed so that the graduates of this subject can gain the required theoretical and practical knowledge in organising natural excursions. The natural excursions implemented within the course support nature protection with an emphasis on explanation of how important exposure to healthy and undamaged nature is for the health of the human body and mind and soul. With the help of questionnaires it was confirmed, that the students expect to obtain theoretical and practical knowledge on this subject. The students are interested in practical training of first aid in the terrain, and learning about activities for natural excursions. The final part provides a worked detailed theoretical lecture for this subject. This thesis was developed pursuant to two years research carried out with the cooperation of the Faculty of Healh Education and the Administration of Sumava National park and Landscape Protected Area.

Analýza výuky biologie na SŠ s přihlédnutím k podílu praktické výuky. / Evaluation of High school biology classes and proportion of practical courses

Chudomelová, Iva January 2014 (has links)
Science courses, as biology, chemistry and physics, constitute significant real subjects it is necessary to rely mainly on experiments and observations. In other words, the practical training is the hallmark of science. Practical training has a positive effect on increasing the attractiveness of individual objects, but in meaning of cognitive function is still debated its merits. What stand the laboratory work for the teachers, as a mediator of the teaching process? Research shows that the practical training teachers perceived positively mainly because of the perfect linking theory with practice, the lower the number of pupils and their proactive approach in teaching. Negatively seems time consuming, consisting mainly of get and preparation the material. Keywords: biology education and science courses, lab courses, school laboratory, time allocated to science practices
