Educação, ciência e saúde no museu: uma análise enunciativo-discursiva da exposição do Museu de Microbiologia do Instituto Butantan / Education, Science and Health at the Museum: an enunciative-discursive analysis of the exhibition at the Museum of Microbiology, Instituto Butantan

Gruzman, Carla 25 September 2012 (has links)
The objective of this research is to understand and analyze the authorship constitution movements of professionals who play the role of designers in the production process of the expository discourse in science museums. We believe that the exhibition discourse concerns not only the knowledge of the subjects involved in the design and in the development of the exhibitions, but also refers to the production conditions that characterize the process as a whole, as well as to the meanings attributed during the materialization of this discourse. The methodological approach used the framework of qualitative research in education, and focused on the long-term exhibition at the Museum of Microbiology of the Instituto Butantan (SP). The theoretical approach is based on the assumptions of socio-historical approach to the study of language of Mikhail Bakhtin and his Circle, which shows dialogical characteristics in different textual media and results as a concrete event related to the conditions that circumscribe the lives of individuals and the positions assumed by them. For this analysis we used the contributions that help addressing the principle of authorship in the discursive production, such as dialogism, statement, social horizons, otherness, voices and the concept of gender. The research was based on two complementary and articulated steps that integrate the methodological procedures. On the first step we invested in the study of exhibitions in science museums as a sphere of activity in which the object of our research emerges, where discussions on the concepts of education and communication were used in this particular unit. The second stage sought to focus the enunciative-discursive dimension of discursive productions of professionals participating in the design and development of the long-term exhibition of the Museum of Microbiology. From this study, in which a brief historical background and the emerging context of the Museum of Microbiology at the Butantan Institute were established, the long-term exhibition at the Museum was described and aspects of its constitutional process, such as the counter words present in the design of the exhibition, the compositional structure with emphasis on the texts and objects and the presence of the other in the production of expository discourse were analyzed. The results show that there are specificities in the authorship constitution movements of this discursive event, which makes it unique in the way that it expresses the relationship between social conditions of production, knowledge, the senses attributed by designers and their interlocutors. A noticeable aspect relates to how the space and time dimension is incorporated into the exhibition discourse and determines the attributes and meanings expressed in the text and objects. Another aspect relates to the voices which characterize the discourses of different social spheres (scientific, educational, aesthetic, spatial, among others) and that afford a glimpse through marks that are expressed in the exhibition discourse. Based on the analysis performed it is believed that exhibitions in science museums could be considered a kind of discourse, hybrid in nature in terms of enunciative-discursive.

Lidman, Charlotte January 2013 (has links)
The aim of the essay is to examine how the student exhibitions of the Royal University college of Fine Arts in Stockholm has changed between 1962-2011, and what these changes can depend on. The questions are: What are the changes in the choice of examination work for the students of the Royal University college of Fine Arts, and what can they depend on? Is the school adjusting their education to the surrounding art world, and in what way is that noticeable? By studying the catalogs from the exhibitions, newspaper reviews and other literature, a shorter conclusion is given concerning the art world, the study situation and the student’s choices of examination works the affected years. The works has gone from being a submission of the study fields during the year, to becoming free projects where stories about important subjects are told. Pressures on the school from students and teachers to be able to keep up with the surrounding view of art in the society that is constantly changing, together with reforms and investigation has led to these changes.

Pereira Puigvert, Sílvia 14 September 2012 (has links)
The objective of the PhD thesis is the analysis of the institute of the exhibition of documents (of an evidentiary nature and technical support) in the Spanish civil procedure. It deals with addressing a momentous problem of the practice of documentary evidence: the access to the document on behalf of whom intends to introduce it in the procedure, when this is found in the power of the opposite litigant or of a third party beyond the procedure. The issue until now, hasn't been worthy of a monographic approach in Spanish Law, in open contrast to what occurs with more advanced legal systems of our environment. In this work, what has been examined is the existing scientific bibliography, which deals with the different general aspects of the exhibition of documents, as well as abundant jurisprudence; it has dealt with providing the institution from a solid doctrinal base, as well as the resolution of numerous practical and theoretical problems that arise, analyzing the different mechanisms that the legal system offers in order to allow the litigant access to the documents that are required so as to advance the claims which I have attached in the procedure. Particularly, the subject of the exhibition of technical support has been tackled, a matter entailing new, special problems, which until this point, have hardly been studied.

Directed visibility analysis: three case studies on the relationship between building layout, perception and behavior

Lu, Yi 01 April 2011 (has links)
This is a study of the spatial affordances of buildings that allow them to organize and transmit cultural ideas and to support the performance of organizational roles. The particular affordances under consideration are those that arise from the manner in which buildings structure the visual fields that are potentially available to a situated observer. In studying directed visibility patterns, supported by the development of appropriate analytical tools, we focus on a previously specified set of visual targets and ask how many become visible from each occupiable location. Parametric restrictions concerning the direction into which a subject faces and the viewing angle sustained by the target object are also taken into consideration. The aim is to demonstrate how such refinements of visibility analysis, lead to more precise and penetrating insights as to how building users tune their behavior to the spatial affordances of environment, and how the environment impacts their understanding in turn. Three different studies were presented. The fist used directed visibility measures to evaluate the affordances of different nursing-unit designs relative to how well nurses are able to survey patients in different rooms as they go about their duties. The second study focuses on the manner in which nurses and physicians position themselves in a Neuro Intensive Care Unit (ICU), particularly when interacting. The third study investigates how aware exhibition visitors become of the visual structure of environment and how the visibility structure of exhibitions affects the ability of visitors to conceptually group paintings according to their thematic content. The case studies support the following conclusions. 1) The way in which people position themselves in an environment as they perform their assigned tasks is tuned to the way in which visual fields are structured. 2) The visual structure of environment is contingent upon the interaction between the underlying structure of visual fields and paths of movement. 3) Directed visibility analysis leads to stronger correlations with behavior and performance than generic visibility analysis. This implies that environments are layered. Their underlying spatial structure is charged by the distribution of the contents that are programmatically primary.

Developing an Exhibition Summative Evaluation Measurement

Unknown Date (has links)
In Taiwan, Curatorial companies hold more and more art exhibitions every year. Owing to the lack of human and financial resources, exhibition evaluation hasn’t developed maturely enough. However, exhibition is one of the ways of presenting art and evaluation would help curatorial team know how audiences evaluate the exhibition, what the exhibition’s effects are, and what the company’s brand image is in the market. Nowadays, curatorial companies use the number of visitors and evaluation questionnaires as the way of exhibition evaluation. Nevertheless, the evaluation questionnaires cannot assess the whole parts of exhibition’s effects and ignore the assessment of what the audiences experience in the exhibition. Therefore, this study uses Lauterborn’s 4C elements and Schmitt’s strategic experiential modules to develop the scale that combines audience’s cognition and experience in the exhibition. As for cases, the study uses Joan Miro Exhibition Women, Birds, Stars, held by Mediashpere and Museum of broken relationship, held by Kuang Hong Arts. And follow Devellis’s scale development steps, including item purification, construct validity analysis and reliability analysis to construct summative exhibition scale. Finally, the scale develops five parts, including consumer needs and wants, cost, communication, sense and community and action and the related nine layers and sub-layers.

Memorials of endurance and adventure : exhibiting British polar exploration, 1819-c.1939

Murray, Katie January 2017 (has links)
Over eighty polar-themed exhibitions were held in Britain between 1819 and the 1930s, a time of intense exploration of both the Arctic and Antarctic. These varied from panoramas and human exhibits to displays of ‘relics', equipment, photographs and artwork, waxworks and displays shown as part of a Great Exhibition. This period also saw the creation of the first dedicated polar museums. These displays were visited by thousands of people throughout the country, helping to mediate the subject of exploration for a public audience. Despite this, the role exhibitions played in forming popular views of the polar regions has not been fully assessed. This thesis addresses this gap. It is the first to consider all the polar exhibitions held during this period as a collective body, making it possible to study how they developed over time and in response to changing circumstances. The thesis uses a variety of archival sources to both reconstruct the displays and place them in their historical and museological contexts. The study shows that exhibitions evolved in response to changes both in the museum sector and in exploration culture. It demonstrates that, while they were originally identified with the shows of the entertainment industry, polar exhibitions began to take on more of the characteristics of museum displays. At the same time their dominant themes changed; the natural world was relegated in favour of ideas relating to the human experience of the regions such as heroism, adventure and everyday life in an exotic environment. While other media may have been more effective in disseminating ideas about exploration, visitors could find the experience of visiting an exhibition more compelling. This thesis contributes to our understanding of this distinct role that exhibitions played in presenting the polar regions to the British public.
