Liniové prvky v zemědělské krajině pohraničí Plzeňského kraje / Linear features of agricultural landscape of the Pilsen region border area

Černík, Lukáš January 2016 (has links)
This diploma thesis is focused on the development of linear features in agricultural area of the Pilsen region border area. Transformation in the landscape microstructure are researched by an evaluation of the linear features changes. The states in the middle of the 20th century and in the present are compared by the indicator 'density of the linear features in the agricultural landscape'. According to the assumption, the number of the linear features has noticeably declined. The biggest declined number refers to the linear features of communications. The number of the dry vegetation and wet watercourses linear features has slightly increased. Concerning length, the biggest decrease refers to the number of the narrowest and narrow linear features, while the number of wide linear features have increased. The decline of the linear features is more noticeable in areas struck by the expulsion of Czech Germans than in areas where Czech inhabitants have lived. The assumption, that demographical changes had influenced changes in the microstructure of the border areas, was proved. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Buchot, Romain 03 April 2014 (has links)
Nos résultats confirment l’ambiguïté émergeant de la littérature relative aux zones de contours les plus informatives, et semblent conforter la nécessité d’un haut degré d’automaticité des processus impliqués dans la perspective de mettre en évidence des effets d’amorçage perceptif / Three main hypotheses exist concerning the most informative local features of contour for binding processes, allowing visual object identification: vertices and 3D features (Biederman, 1987 ; Boucart et al, 1995), midsegments elements (Kennedy R& Domander, 1985, Singh & Fulvio, 2005), and the interaction betweenfragmentation type and complexity of the global form (Panis & Wagemans, 2009). The aim of this work is to confront these hypotheses, while trying to determine the level (conscious or unconscious) at which the detection and the processing of these features occur. Conscious and unconscious priming paradigms are employed. Drawings of fragmented objects contain either vertices and 3D features or midsegment elements. They are used as primes, preceding a fragmented target image of the same object containing identical or complementary contour features. None of these four experiments highlight a qualitative effect of fragmentation types. However, a quantitative priming effect can be observed under certain timing conditions. Our results confirm the ambiguity emerging from literature concerning the most informative contour features and the necessity of a high degree of automatism of the processes involved in order to highlight perceptual priming effects

An analysis of results of a high-resolution world ocean circulation model

Barton, Wesley A. 03 1900 (has links)
Approved for public release; distribution is unlimited / Results of a highly vectorized and multitasked model of the world ocean circulation were analyzed. This model which uses realistic physics, geometry, and forcing on a high-resolution grid, was run on the NCAR Cray X-MP/48 using a robust-diagnostic strategy. Twenty years of model integration using one-half degree horizontal resolution and 20 levels of vertical resolution were accomplished after 200 wall-clock hours at a maximum FORTRAN performance speed of 450 megaflops. Seven key regions of the world ocean were analyzed using an ocean model processor. A representation of the global ocean circulation emerged that compared well with observations and that included strong advective features, fronts, and subtropical meanders. A diagnostic analysis program was developed to analyze meridional heat and volume transports. The results in all basins appear to be reasonable when compared to the results of other studies. For example, an anomalous northward heat transport of 3.8 x 10 to the 14th power W at 30 deg in the South Atlantic compares favorably with the estimate of 4.2 x 10 to the 14th power W at 32 deg S by Bennett (1978) using hydrographic data. The results of simulations conducted in this study can be compared and contrasted against the results of future eddy-resolving simulations. Social-ecological change in Gwich’in territory: cumulative impacts in the cultural landscape, and determinants of access to fish

Proverbs, Tracey Angela 29 August 2019 (has links)
In the territory of the Gwich’in First Nation, in Canada’s Northwest Territories, environmental, sociocultural, and economic changes are affecting relationships between communities and the land and water. In this thesis, I used two research projects to explore the impacts of social-ecological change in Gwich’in territory by examining cumulative impacts in the cultural landscape, and determinants of access to fish and well-being. In the first part of my MA, I used spatial overlay analysis to quantify and map: 1) cultural feature intensity, 2) cumulative environmental disturbance, and 3) overlap between disturbances and cultural features. I also interviewed four regional cultural heritage experts, who contributed critical insights into representing Gwich’in cultural features. The first two analyses indicated that overlay methods can facilitate understandings of land use and cumulative impacts, illustrating Gwich’in territory as a cultural landscape encompassing widespread, dense cultural features and diffuse, lower intensity cumulative environmental impacts. The third analysis showed that overlaying cultural feature and disturbance data is a novel, straightforward step to better incorporating cultural impacts in cumulative impact assessments. Many of the changes I mapped are affecting fishing practices central to Gwich’in livelihoods. To better understand these changes, in the second part of my MA I explored the relationship between drivers of access to fish and well-being amidst social-ecological change, by interviewing 29 Gwich’in individuals. My interviews showed that socioeconomic and environmental barriers have decreased access to fish. However, access to fish remains critical and related to well-being, driven by various socioeconomic factors. Many of these factors are reflected in sharing networks and adaptive practices that are encompassed in ecological monitoring and land-based education. These factors may strengthen Gwich’in fishing livelihoods, and highlight the importance of programs like the Rat River Char Monitoring program, and land-based education like the Ganahghootr’onatan – Teetł’it Land Based Learning Project. / Graduate

Pedogenesis, clay mineralogy, and silicon geochemistry in hypersaline tidal flat soils on the Brazilian coast / Pedogênese, mineralogia da fração argila e geoquímica de silício em solos de planícies hipersalinas da costa brasileira

Sartor, Lucas Resmini 27 February 2018 (has links)
Hypersaline tidal flats (HTFs) are transitional ecosystems commonly occurring in arid and semiarid coastal areas. (e.g. Australia and New Caledonia), Africa (e.g. Senegal, Gambia, and Madagascar), Central America (e.g. Nicaragua), South America (e.g. Ecuador and on the north, northeast, and southeast Brazilian coasts). Due to their location, HTFs might exert biogeochemical control over cycling of nutrients (e.g. Fe and Si) across the land to ocean transition, accelerating or retarding the nutrient export to the ocean and other adjacent ecosystems. This biogeochemical control is governed by soil physicochemical conditions (e.g. pH and salinity) and pedogenesis (e.g. redox processes). Thus, study of the soil coloidal fraction, the pedogenic processes, and the distribution of Si in the different soil components can provide a detailed characterization of HTF soils and give insights into the Si dynamics in these environments. In view of this, two HTFs on the Brazilian coast were studied on the Brazilian coast and the data are presented here. The first chapter aims to investigate the pedogenesis in HTF soils based on detailed morphological descriptions and Fe and Mn sequential extractions. The second chapter discusses silicon geochemistry in HTF soils based on sequential extractions, SEM, and XRD modeling of the fine clay fraction. And lastly, the third one reports the characteristics, distribution, and genesis of clay minerals in HTF soils on the basis of XRD modeling, TEM-EDS, FTIR, and XRF analysis. Redox reactions control the pedogenic evolution in HTF soils. These processes lead to a mobilization of Fe2+ and Mn2+ upward in the soils profiles, followed by oxidation and precipitation of Fe and Mn oxyhydroxides. These reactions, along with pyrite oxidation, lead to a transformation of the deeper soil horizons. Formation of Fe oxyhydroxides in the uppermost soil horizons exerts control on Si dynamics by co-precipitation and adsorption reactions. Together, Si associated with Fe oxyhydroxides and amorphous silicates are the main components of the readily soluble Si pool in HTF soils. The environmental conditions are conducive to clay transformations in the soils. Our data indicate that kaolinite is progressively altered to Mg-rich smectite through mixed-layering, withdrawing Si from the soil porewater.

Honda, Marcelo Ossamu 27 August 2001 (has links)
This work presents the survey and implementation of a database of knowledge to aid the diagnostic of breast lesions through visual inspection, allowing the physician a seach through the characteristics of the contents of the image and the visual comparison between the analysed image and the previously classified images and its clinical information. The images are classified into the database of knowledge according to the pattern Breast Imaging Reporting and Data Systems (BI-RADS) of the American College of Radiology. The selection of the images, the representative clinical information, as well as its classification have been performed in conjunction with practictioners radiologists of the Centro de Ciências das Imagens e Física Médica (CCIFM) from Faculdade de Medicina de Ribeirão Preto (FMRP) from Universidade de São Paulo (USP). The process of indexing and retrieving the images is based on characteristic of the texture extracted from the regions of interest (ROIs) previously established through scanned mammograms. To simplify this path, the Principal Components Analysis (PCA) was used it aims the reduction of the number of features of texture and the existing redundant information. The best results obtained were to the ROIs 139 (precision = 0.80), 59 (precision = 0.86) and a value of 100% of precision for ROI 40.

Dinâmica de cúspides praiais e fatores condicionantes: Massaguaçú, SP / Beach cusps dynamics and conditionig factors: Massaguaçú, SP

Santos, Hélio Teruo Hashizume dos 17 September 2015 (has links)
This study aims to relate the action of incident waves on Massaguaçú\'s beach with the presence and the behavior of morphological features such as beach cusps. The set of data used consists in a series of images from the Argus system. This system uses five high-resolution cameras resulting in a 180 ° coverage of the coastal zone. From these images, realize the presence of beach cusps lying in two rows on the beach face, one in the upper beach face (CFS) and the other in the lower beach face (CFI). At the same time with the image data the wave regime acting at Massaguaçú\'s beach was analyzed during the period. The presence of rhythmic features was almost constant Massaguaçú\'s beach face, nearly predominant on the upper beach face. The average spacing of CFS was greater than the spacing of the CFI and the interchange in active conditions was crucial in reducing the spacing as well as low energy conditions. The increased spacing of the cusps occurred under medium to high energy conditions and under extreme conditions both as increased and destruction of the rhythmic features were observed. The interaction between the swash motions and the existing morphology, modulated by varying the water level, was important for the formation of cusps at lower levels while the extreme conditions caused its destruction.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of nitrogen doses on morphogenetic characteristics, structural, crop growth and performance of beef steers grazing Panicum maximum cv. Mombasa in northern Tocantins. The treatments consisted of the application: 114.2, 228.3 and 342.5 kg/ha of nitrogen applied in the form of ammonium sulfate in the rainy season (December to April 2016). The pasture was also fertilized with 50 kg/ha P2O5 in the form of superphosphate prior to the experiment, and K2O as KCl, applied together with the nitrogen in the ratio 1: 0.5. Twenty-four Nellore steers with nine months of age and 173 kg average weight for performance evaluation and 36 animals regulators to maintain forage output high. The pasture was managed in a rotational grazing, with seven days of grazing and 21 days rest. For measures related to morphogenesis, structure and chemical composition, was used a randomized block design, with measurements repeated in time, three treatments, two blocks per treatment with four cycles and four replications (paddocks) per block, evaluating the interaction and between treatment cycles. For evaluation of animal performance was used completely randomized design with repeated measurements over time, with three treatments, four grazing cycles and eight repetitions (animals) per treatment, evaluating the interaction between treatments and cycles. The variables were subjected to analysis of variance at 5% significance by Student's t test. Higher doses of nitrogen did not affect the leaf elongation rate, leaf appearance rate, stem elongation rate, phyllochron and tiller population density (p>0.05), however, they suffered influence of grazing cycles (p<0.05), with the exception of phyllochron. With increasing N rate of 114.2 to 342.5 kg pre-grazing the leaf area index increased from 8.86 to 13.84 m2. The final length of the expanded sheets suffered increments of 9.6% with the highest dose (p<0.05). The higher dose of nitrogen increased the cultural growth rate (p<0.05) values of 254.74 and 188.41 kg/ha.day at higher and lower dose, respectively. The dry weight of the total forage, the leaf blades and pre-grazing green stem were affected with the dose of 342.5 kg/ha of N (p<0.05), increasing by 19.2; 20.7 and 32.6%, respectively, compared to lower doses. There was a decrease of NDF and ADF contents and increased BP (p<0.05) with increasing doses of 114.2 to 342.5 kg. The average daily gain of the animals was not affected by treatments (p>0.05), with an average of 0.470 kg/animal.day, however, the gain per area and the stocking rate were increased by the higher dose, particularly in two intermediate cycles (2 and 3), with average values of 5.51 and 6.38 kg/ha.day and stocking rate of 5.5 and 7.0 AU/ha in doses of 114.2 and 342,5kg nitrogen, respectively. The blood parameters were not affected by nitrogen levels (p>0.05). We conclude that in Mombaçagrass grazing the morphostructural characteristics related to leaf area index, final length of the leaves and cultural growth rate increase with the elevation of 114.2 doses of nitrogen to 342.5 kg/ha nitrogen. The dry weight of the total forage and its morphological components is increased with doses of 342.5 kg/ha of nitrogen. The use of higher nitrogen dose improves the nutritional quality of Mombasa, reducing NDF and ADF contents and increasing the crude protein fraction in dry matter. Increasing doses of 114.2 to 342.5 kg/ha of nitrogen does not improve the performance of individual animals, however, increases productivity per area.

Aspectos geomorfológicos da planície fluvial do baixo rio Cotia, SP / Geomorphological features of the fluvial plain of the Cotia River, SP

Leite, Robson 16 September 2013 (has links)
This paper analyses the geomorphological features from three sectors in the Cotia Rivers basin, located in the western part of the metropolitan area of Sao Paulo. Some Maps have even been drawn starting from a cartographic base on the scale of 1:25.000, satellite images and aerial photographs. The scan of the aerial photographs andsatellite images, with a bibliographic review in this study area, allow the identification and characterization of the geomorphological features, as well as their dynamic during 40 years (1962 2002). The fluvial plain is understood how a system that reflects the changes occurring in the basin. The geomorphological features are located at the flood plain. The fluvial plain is considered like a regular riverbed (flood prone width). This delimitation provides criteria to the application of a Permanent Preservation Area (APP). The sectors (A, B and C) were studied contains similar geomorphological characteristics. The urban sprawl on the fluvial plain in the sectors is increase. It is necessary the establishment of protection areas at the plain. The fluvial dynamic establishes the urban sprawl limits.
