Transformativt ledarskap i en digitaliserad värld : En kvalitativ studie om användning av digitala verktyg och följarnas upplevelse av ett digitalt transformativt ledarskap / Transformative leadership in a digitized world : A qualitative study on the use of digital tools and the followers' experience of digital transformative leadership

Moani, Arvin, Gustafsson, Anton January 2023 (has links)

Characterization and Biomechanical Analysis of the Human Lumbar Spine with In Vitro Testing Conditions

Stolworthy, Dean K. 19 January 2012 (has links) (PDF)
Biomechanical testing of cadaveric spinal segments forms the basis for our current understanding of healthy, pathological, and surgically treated spinal function. Over the past 40 years there has been a substantial amount of data published based on a spinal biomechanical testing regimen known as the flexibility method. This data has provided valuable clinical insights that have shaped our understanding of low back pain and its treatments. Virtually all previous lumbar spinal flexibility testing has been performed at room temperature, under very low motion rates, without the presence of a compressive follower-load to simulate upper body weight and the action of the musculature. These limitations of previous work hamper the applicability of published spinal biomechanics data, especially as researchers investigate novel ways of treating low back pain that are intended to restore the spine to a healthy biomechanical state. Thus, the purpose of this thesis work was to accurately characterize the rate-dependent flexibility of the lumbar spine at body temperature while in the presence of a compressive follower-load. A custom spine simulator with an integrated environmental chamber was developed and built as part of this thesis work. Cadaveric spinal motion segments were tested at 12 different rates of loading spanning the range of voluntary motion rates. The testing methodology allowed for comparison of spinal flexibility at room and body temperatures in the three primary modes of spinal motion, both with and without a compressive follower-load. Additionally, the work developed a stochastic model for rate-dependent spinal flexibility that allows for accurate prediction of spinal flexibility at any rate within the range of voluntary motion, based on a single flexibility test. In conclusion, the biomechanical response was significantly altered due to testing temperature, loading-rate, and application of a compressive follower-load. The author emphasizes the necessity to simulate the physiological environment during ex vivo biomechanical analysis of the lumbar spine in order to obtain a physiological response. Simplified testing procedures may be implemented only after the particular effect is known.

The Impact of Visual Representations of Leadership in Tribal Dominated Societies: A critical qualitative study of aesthetic leadership in the United Arab Emirates

Bitar, Amer January 2017 (has links)
This thesis explores the role and impact of leadership as a socially constructed and aesthetic phenomenon in tribal-dominated Bedouin Arabia. The concept of leadership is investigated in terms of its discursive and aesthetic dimensions across different geographical, historical, and intellectual settings by adopting and applying a Foucauldian perspective of interconnected concepts of power/knowledge, discourse, subjectivity, body symbolism and the power of gaze. The thesis draws on three related types of data: First, images to understand the leaders’ perspective. Second, interviews with artists to gain insights into the visual message and the creative process. Third, through semi-structured interviews with the audience to garner an understanding of how it perceives the message leaders send. This thesis contributes theoretically to ongoing research into the visual representation of leadership and to critical debates concerning Foucauldian perspectives on discourse, power, discipline and the body. This thesis concludes by recommending practical implications for rethinking leadership as something both aesthetic and mythical to consider the role of followership in the consumption of leadership-themed visual artworks and communication, and the growing global role and influence of social media in shaping leader-follower relations.

Heuristic control of a small line-following robot : A comparison of different methods / Heuristisk reglering av en liten linjeföljande robot : En jämförelse av olika metoder

Gumbel, Neo, Khirzia, Omed January 2022 (has links)
A line-follower is a robot that follows a line. Line-followers can be used in industry, mostly for material transportation, but are also raced against each other in competitions. While line-followers used in industry prioritize smooth motion and accuracy, competition-style line-followers prioritize speed around the track. In order for a line-follower to perform well, it needs a robust control-algorithm. Usually, competition-style line-followers use a manually tuned PID-algorithm for control. Tuning a PID-controller can be difficult, and is dependent on the skill of the tuner. There are, however, multiple so called ”heuristic” tuning methods that can give more consistent results, quickly. In this work, some popular heuristic tuning methods have been investigated for control of a competition-style line-follower. The methods have been compared in terms of step-responses and cumulative deviation of the robot from a track. The results indicate that the purely proportional variant of the Ziegler-Nichols method gives the best performance for competition-style line-followers. The ”some overshoot” variant of the modified Ziegler-Nichols method gave the most consistent and accurate results, and could be appropriate for use in an industrial-scale line-follower. Surprisingly the newest method tested, the Tyreus-Luyben technique, had a very unstable behaviour, and have thus been excluded from multiple tests.
