Business valuation with Fundamental analysis : Is Eolus share over- or undervalued?

Stupic, Slavisa, Järvinen, Sebastian January 2010 (has links)
Nyckeltal: Företagsvärdering, Fundamental analys, Eolus Vind AB, DCF, CAPM, WACC, multipelvärdering / Date: 2010-06-03 Subject: Bachelor Thesis in Business Administration University: Mälardalen University, Vasteras Institute: School of Sustainable Development of Society and Technology Title: Business valuation with Fundamental analysis Authors: Sebastian Järvinen and Slavisa Stupic Tutor: Riitta Lehtisalo Examiner: Cecilia Lindh Questions: What valuation methods and models are most appropriate for the valuation of Eolus Vind AB? Is Eolus share over- or undervalued? What influence do the deviations in the prognosis have against the forecasted valuation of Eolus? Purpose: The purpose of this study is to perform a Business valuation of Eolus and determine it its share is over- or undervalued. The study will also deal with the uncertainty in the valuation. Method: The study has a deductive approach, which says that the starting point lies in a existing theory. Furthermore, qualitative and quantitative methods are used to obtain a deeper understanding of how valuation methods and models are used in the practice, which t hen forms the basis of a valuation of Eolus. Conclusion: The most appropriate method for a valuation of Eolus is a DCF analysis, where the first step is to do a fundamental analysis, which involves a study of the company, its industry and the market to form a basis for the forecasts, and assumptions that are required in a DCF analysis. A relative valuation is a preferable combination with the DCF analysis. According to our projections, assumptions and estimates we believe that Eolus share is undervalued in relation to today’s share price. Fundamentalios ir techninės analizės taikymo tikslinis tyrimas / Purposeful research of fundamental and technical analysis application

Kubilius, Gytis 18 August 2008 (has links)
[toliau žr. visą tekstą] / The profitability and reliability of technical analysis methods is the main theme of this work. The practical value of these methods and main rules of operation are analyzed in smaller markets (Vilnius, Ryga and Tallin) and also in comparison with S&P 500 index. The main purpose of this study is to practically test couple of technical analysis methods (Relative Strength Index – RSI and Dual Moving Average Crossover - DMAC) by applying them in markets mentioned above, explore the signals for buying and selling. The fundamental analysis is evaluated while analyzing the reliability and practical benefits of recommendations provided by the commercial banks of Lithuania. The meaning of efficient market theory (it’s the most basic theory for technical and fundamental analysis) is described in literature analysis part. Also, the main rules of fundamental and technical analysis are described there. All the methodology of the research with Baltic and USA indexes is provided in the second part of the work. The third part is filled with results of the research. The best annual after tax gain providing method was DMAC (Dual Moving Average Crossover) (50/200 with OMXV share index) with 22,44% gain for the shareholder, while “buy and keep” strategy provided only 22,68%. RSI (Relative Strength Index) worked best with S&P500 index. The annual odd of this method was 2,15%, while “buy and keep” strategy was only 0,087. DMAC (20/100) also worked best while analyzing the truthfulness of... [to full text]

Securitie´s investment strategies based on financial statement analysis: is it possible to foresee the future?

Fernando Caio Galdi 06 May 2008 (has links)
This thesis investigates the usefulness and limitations of investment strategies based on financial statement analysis. Initially I assess the usefulness of the strategy for the full sample of Brazilian public-held firms. An additional analysis considers the partition of high book-to-market (HBM) or/and poor corporate governance (CG) firms. Capital markets research in accounting and finance show evidences that permit one to posit that firms within these groups (HBM and/or poor CG) present specific features that should enhance the usefulness of financial statement analysis as an investment tool. I find evidences that the analyzed strategies significantly differentiate between winners and losers for both groups (HBM and poor CG) but not for the full sample of firms. These results confirm and expand Piotroski\'s (2000) evidences. Further I consider the possible omitted risk-factors that could explain the results obtained. I show that the practical implementation of the strategy is more realistic (regarding stock\'s trading volume) if applied for firms with poor corporate governance arrangements when compared to the HBM ones. However, the strategy returns are lower when applied to the subset of poor corporate governance firms. This evidence is consistent with the negative expected relation between liquidity and returns (Bekaert et al, 2006) and contributes to previous research (Piotroski, 2000; Mohanran, 2005) on abnormal returns obtained with financial statements analysis.

Fundamentální a technická analýza vybraného aktiva / Fundamental and technical analysis of a particular asset

Nepomnyashchiy, Ilya January 2015 (has links)
The goal of the thesis is to evaluate the degree of efficiency of the particular markets and to apply the methods of fundamental and technical analysis on them in order to assess their efficiency in terms of profitablity. The thesis analyses the degree of long-term memory of the particular commodities and stock indices via Hurst coefficient. Afterwards fundamental and technical methods are applied to the market with the highest degree of long-term memory, which is the feeder cattle market. Indidivual methods from both disciplines are being applied at first, after wich a combnation of both is appleid as well. The result is the discovery, whether combining the two approaches leads to a higher profitability of the trading strategy. At the end the effect of transacton costs is also evalauted and a final conclusion is made regarding the profit potential of both methods for the case of individual Czech investor.
