Previous issue date: 2005-05-05 / This research, part of the DIRECT Project (LAEL/PUC-SP), aims at analyzing the characteristics of city tour and museum guides in two different sociocultural contexts: Brazil and Spain. In this way, it investigates the cultural context and the situational context of the corpora of this study. The theory focuses on Systemic Functional Grammar (Halliday, 1994). Although this grammar offers various elements that could also reveal characteristics in the discourse of these professionals, Theme was chosen because it makes possible the study of the organization of the message, the point of departure the speaker selects for grounding what he is going to say (Halliday (1994: 34). Besides, it is possible to compare how two different languages and cultures organize their message. This research has three goals: (1) to identify similarities and differences in the discourse of city tour and museum guides; (2) to identify similarities and differences in the discourse of Brazilian and Spanish city tour and museum guides; (3) to establish if there is one or two genres according to the general structure of the discourses and to Thematic options. Thus, this study is composed of 04 corpora: one of visits to two Brazilian museums; one of visits to two Spanish museums; one of two city tours in Brazil; one of two city tours in Spain. The visits were recorded in cassette tapes and transcribed. The theory about genre follows the ideas of Hasan (1989), Swales (1990), Bathia (1993), Fries (1995), Eggins & Martin (1997) and Ramm (2000). The Theme was studied through the ideas of Halliday (1994), Eggins (1994), Berry (1995), Thompson (1996), Barbara & Gouveia (2001) and Gouveia & Barbara (2001). Results show that city tour and museum guides organize their discourse in a very similar way and that there are some idiosyncratic differences, what is expected as the study deals with two sociocultural contexts / Esta pesquisa, parte do Projeto DIRECT (LAEL/PUC-SP), tem o objetivo de analisar as características do discurso de guias de turismo e monitores de museus em dois contextos sócio-culturais diferentes: Brasil e Espanha.

[en] THE PRESENT TENSE: FORM, MEANING AND FUNCTION / [pt] O PRESENTE DO INDICATIVO: FORMA, SIGNIFICADO E FUNÇÃOMARIANA DRATOVSKY AZEVEDO SANTOS 23 October 2007 (has links)
[pt] Neste trabalho analisamos sob que perspectivas o presente
do indicativo é
apresentado nas gramáticas normativas. Em função do
resultado dessa análise,
levantamos algumas propostas para vermos amenizados os
conflitos entre forma e
significado, a partir de uma abordagem funcional. Baseados
em breve reflexão
sobre o conceito tempo, observamos as nuances semânticas
do presente do
indicativo encontradas no discurso oral e buscamos uma
sistematização dessas
ocorrências. / [en] In this essay we analyze in which perspectives the present
tense is
presented in standard grammars. As a result of this
analysis, some proposals were
raised to minimize the conflicts between form and meaning,
rooted in a systemic functional
approach. Based on a brief reflection about the concept of
time, we
observed the semantic nuances of the present tense found
in oral discourse and we
searched for a systematization of these occurrences.

[en] ADVERTISING AS A RESOURCE FOR CONTEXTUALIZATION IN THE TEACHING OF GERMAN AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE (GFL) / [pt] O ANÚNCIO PUBLICITÁRIO COMO RECURSO PEDAGÓGICO CONTEXTUALIZADOR DO ALEMÃO COMO LÍNGUA ESTRANGEIRA (ALE)MERGENFEL A VAZ FERREIRA 21 July 2005 (has links)
do contexto
componentes verbais e
não-verbais. Esta análise baseou-se fundamentalmente nos
pressupostos da
Gramática Sistêmico-Funcional (Halliday, 1994), assim como
nas categorias da
Gramática Visual (Kress e Van Leeuwen, 1996). Deste modo,
a descrição e
Salientando, então, a
textuais, contexto, cultura e
comunicação visual. / [en] From the view that language is a social construct that is
inseparable from its
situational and cultural context, the main objective of
the present study is to
describe and analyze German advertisements in printed
form, focusing on the
relationship between their verbal and non-verbal
components. The analysis is
primarily based on the principles of Halliday`s (1994)
systemic-functional
grammar and on the categories in the visual grammar of
Kress and van Leeuwen
(1996). Thus, the description and analysis of the
linguistic and extra-linguistic
components in the advertisements are used to observe the
relationships between
the advertisements as genre. In addition to the analysis
of the verbal and nonverbal
features of advertisements, the study made use of a
questionnaire
distributed to professionals that teach German as a
foreign language in various
institutions in Rio de Janeiro. In light of the responses
to the questionnaire, the
present study discusses questions related to how culture
is approached in the
classroom and whether visual elements are significantly
explored in the teaching
materials used by these teachers. The aim of the research
is twofold: it proposes
the importance of encouraging contextualized foreign
language teaching and it
attempts to contribute to the discussion on the teaching
of German as a foreign
language, from a multiple perspective that includes genre,
context, culture and
visual communication.

[en] PEDAGOGIC DISCOURSE, A PRACTICE OF IDEOLOGICAL MEANING: IDENTITY CONSTRUCTION IN A MILITARY EDUCATIONAL CONTEXT / [pt] DISCURSO PEDAGÓGICO, PRÁTICA DE SIGNIFICAÇÃO IDEOLÓGICA: UMA VISÃO DA CONSTRUÇÃO DE IDENTIDADES EM CONTEXTO EDUCACIONAL MILITARDANIELA CALDEIRA BRUNO 10 October 2005 (has links)
identidades no
contexto de práticas discursivas vivenciadas na formação
de oficiais combatentes
do Exército Brasileiro. Tais práticas evidenciam a
participantes.
superior - o discurso
pedagógico, produzidos durante exercícios de adestramento
de tropas combatentes
para o cumprimento de sua missão constitucional.
Considerando-se que a língua
carrega o potencial de produzir as ordens de significado
que o dispositivo
pedagógico está tentando controlar e distribuir, uma
análise da organização
funcional das práticas pedagógico-discursivas
selecionadas, baseada no
ferramental da Gramática Sistêmico-Funcional de Halliday
(1985), principalmente
transitividade, evidenciou
que as escolhas lexicogramaticais, semânticas, fonológicas
e entoacionais
instanciadas constituem-se de sistemas semióticos não
arbitrários de construção e
representação do mundo. Essas escolhas funcionam
produzindo significados
particulares no âmbito da formação militar combatente,
ideologicamente
compartilhados e apropriados pela comunidade de prática
estudada, facilitando
processos de formação e representações sociais. As
análises trouxeram à tona a
[en] This dissertation focuses on discourse, understood as an
ideological practice
of meaning and as a practice evocative of social
identities at an institution of
undergraduate military education. A particular view is
developed on the identity
construction process in the context of discursive practice
enunciations taking
place along the education of combatant officers of the
Brazilian Army. Such
practices reflect the representation of the symbolic
systems which contribute to
the shaping of this ecology and of the identities evoked
from its members. The
main source for analysis comprises texts interpreted as
the materialization of a
superior social order discourse - pedagogic discourse,
produced during military
maneuvers aiming at skilling combatant troops to
accomplish their constitutional
mission. Considering that language carries the potential
of producing the orders of
meaning which pedagogic discourse tries to control and
distribute, the functional
organization of the pedagogic-discursive practices was
analyzed. Based on
Halliday´s (1985) Systemic-Functional Grammar, with
special focus on the
ideational metafunction and transitivity, these analyses
support that choices of
lexicogramatical, semantic, phonological and intonation
patterns build nonarbitrary
semiotic systems of construction and representation of the
world. These
choices function producing particular meanings in the
military combatant
educational scope, besides being ideologically shared and
appropriated by the
studied community of practice, enabling social formation
and representation
processes. The analysis has risen the belief that the
imaginary, the symbolic and
the mythical march in the same cadence as that intended by
the pedagogic
discourse, medium which materializes the truth and factor
of identity construction
during the daily discursive practices that flourish at
this military academy.
