The impacts of green entrepreneurial leadership on green human capital and competitive advantage

Environmental degradation has become a major concern for all humankind. The environmental problems are no longer confined to one enterprise. The need for ¡§Greening¡¨ is urgent for enterprises because they have to gain competitive advantage.¡@ Moreover, green human capital is considered most important element of competitive advantage in most enterprises. All of the competencies of the green human capital within an enterprise is intangible assets. It is believed that if an enterprise knows that green entrepreneurial leadership contributes green human capital and competitive advantage, it can be managed effectively. This study extended previous research by attending to the boundaries of the relationship between green human capital and competitive advantage. Furthermore, we would like to examine the impact of green entrepreneurial leadership on green human capital and competitive advantage. These hypotheses were supported in examination of 108 enterprises which attained the Annual Enterprises Environmental Protection Award via Environmental Protection Administration Executive Yuan, and the enterprises which is registered in the Ministry of Economic Affairs in Taiwan. The 231 objects are environmentalists, director of human resources department, and director of marketing department. We used confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis, and regression analysis to testify our hypotheses. The study findings indicated: 1. Charismatic leadership increased positive relationship between development of green human capital and competitive advantage. 2. Ethical leadership increased positive relationship between development of green human capital and competitive advantage. 3. Proactive personality increased positive relationship between development of green human capital and competitive advantage. Practical implications were illustrated as following: 1. Enterprises should attach importance to selection of green human capital. 2. Enterprises should attach importance to development and leverage of green human capital. Finally, suggestions for future research and the limitation of this study also discussed.

The global high tech industry is having a ¡§Green colour¡¨ hits. It is not a war in invoice competition. It is a war for life. The continues of the technological advantages and fast development in industry, have bringing in a convenient life to human being but on the other hand it had introduced lots of troubles in our natural environment. The awareness of our natural environment began in 1970, the first ¡§Global Day¡¨ continues in 1972, Stockholm¡¦s environment and development conference, people begins their awareness of our natural environment, knowledge, understanding and its trouble. In August this year the European alliances will be announcing the three directions of the law in the waste of electrical engineering and facility and electrical facility and products awareness. Therefore the producers have to register their product before August this year. Which includes the digital produce company, products, after sales services and recycling business are all effected bye the law. The following trend of Green Process will be the next demand on industry generation. Under the green process direction, every products that produced have to be recyclable, Lead free, Halogen free . Therefore the trend will bring to a whole new revolution of digital industry. Taiwan¡¦s IC packing industry is one of the most important rule to be a part in global semiconductor. In order to be part of trend, and facing the changing environment, follow the flow is the only way to continue the business. Our aim for this research is to discover the green products¡¦ that¡¦s affect to the packing industry. Our research is hoping to discover a deep underneath for every cases of green process products changing and to the IC packing industry. We also hoping the research could analyze the future development of the green process environment.

Along with the increasing global environmental ism and the interest in green products, protecting the natural environment is essential to survival and economic development. The future marketing and promotion of products, in additional to the traditional variables of price and quality, requires consideration of a third variable - the environmental-friendly products. Many countries establish regulations to limit the application of ¡§lead¡¨ and other hazardous material. WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) mandates recycling of electrical and electronic products. RoHS (Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment) restricts 6 controlled materials starting on 2006.07.01. The ¡§lead-free¡¨ trend had unprecedented impact in the field of electronics. In the global industrial supply chain, Taiwan plays an important role in the manufacturing (OEM/ODM) stage. The Taiwan electronic industry¡¦s supply chain, in dealing with buyer¡¦s demands for green products have to take appropriate strategies to maintain the production competitive superiority of the global marketing. Facing the coming of the green electronic era, this research, with the aim on the solder industry and its future economic development, studies how the industry could effectively use the available resources, analyzes the internal operations and the external factors. Using the case study for A company, what are the feasible business model can apply? This research is hopping to elevate Taiwan¡¦s international competitiveness in light of the green revolution in the electronic industry.

The Austin Green Building Program: an analysis of the program's effectiveness

Current water shortages in the United States and Texas are expected to only worsen so that by 2050, approximately 40% of both U.S. and Texas residents will live in areas of water scarcity (U.S. House Committee, 2003; Texas Water Development Board, 2003). In response to these grim projections, both lawmakers and environmentalists are calling for conservation measures so that future shortages or costly new supply initiatives are avoided. One area where substantial consumption decreases could be made is the municipal sector, which is projected to account for 35% of all water consumed in Texas by 2050 (Texas Water Development Board, 2002). Both organizations and voluntary programs have been established to reduce water consumption in this area. One of the largest and most innovative programs in the state is the Austin Green Building Program (AGBP). It was the first program of its kind in the U.S. that rates new homes and remodels in regards to five categories related to sustainability: energy efficiency, water efficiency, materials efficiency, health and safety and community (City of Austin, 2001). This research identified the factors (weather, home size, lot size, appraised value, and existence of a pool) that effect water consumption for residences qualifying as "Austin Green Homes", and identified those green features or designs that had the greatest effect on water consumption, that were most commonly included, and the reasons why contractors incorporated them. Non-green features such as temperature, rainfall, home and lot size, appraised value and a pool seemed to have the greatest impact on water consumption, from an analysis of R2 values, albeit a positive relation for each variable. When green features were investigated, findings showed that different features were effective in reducing water consumption for different builders and in many cases, water-conserving features actually led to increased use. Finally, results showed that large builders incorporated fewer water-related green features in their homes and achieved lower star ratings in general than small green builders.

Investigation of pharmacokinetics of malachite green and leucomalachite green in Tilapia with liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry

The purpose of this research is that investigate the effects of time and concentration of exposure for the accumulation and depletion of malachite green and leucomalachite green in tilapia by pharmacokinetics. LC-MS/MS was used as the analytical instrument in this research, and the detection limit of malachite green and leucomalachite green is 0.51 ppb and 0.48 ppb. The results show that malachite green is unstable at high temperature. Addition of TMPD into the standard can stabilize malachite green. The malachite green in exposure water is easy to adhere to the fiberglass tub and cause the decreases of concentration of malachite green in water. The concentrations of malachite green and leucomalachite green in tilapia are positive related to the time and concentration of exposure. In experiments of exposure of malachite green, the highest concentration of malachite green occurs in liver, accumulation rate constant is 21.62 h-1. Liver is also the major organ for transforming malachite green into leucomalachite green, the net leucomalachite green accumulation rate constant is 213.67 h-1. In the period of water bath, Gill is the fastest organ for eliminating malachite green and leucomalachite green, the elimination rate constant is 0.7799 h-1 and 0.4658 h-1; the leucomalachite green concentration in fat is still increase until 6h of water bath.

Application and Analysis on Building Energy Efficiency Upgrade Strategies

Due to lacking of natural resources, the major energy utilized in Taiwan are mostly imported, including oil (50.9%), Coal (32.3%), and natural gas (8.1%), nuclear (7.3%) and hydraulic power (1.4%). Therefore, energy saving strategies have become a global trend and needs immediate action so that CO2 emission can be reduced. To coup with the Kyoto protocol, building energy conservation has been deemed as a policy of no regret and aiming at 20% savings in the whole nation. In this research, building energy conservation strategies, especially on HVAC systems which have been widely adapted in Taiwan will be analyzed and validated with full-scale experimental results. Efforts will be especially focused on commercial and residential buildings, so that their energy savings effect can be analyzed quantitatively.

<p><strong>Purpose: </strong> To explore how a company can make its marketing mix, the four Ps, greener. This is done with a case study of the Rockwool Group.<em> </em></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>Background: </strong>The Rockwool Group is the world’s leading producer of stone wool. It consists of twenty-one factories in three continents and its primary business area is within insulation. The Rockwool Group’s products improve the quality of life and helps to alleviate environmental problems, such as the greenhouse effect, smog and acid rain.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Problem: </strong>Today many companies want to improve their greenness. A way to do this is by greening the marketing mix. The current green marketing literature only touches upon certain aspects of the marketing mix, but there are no recognized studies that provide guidelines on how to green the marketing mix.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Methodology: </strong>The data collection consists of several semi-structured interviews with employees from different departments. The authors interviewed employees from three subsidiaries from different parts of the world – Scandinavia, North America and the Balkans.</p><p><strong>Conclusions: </strong>Through the case of the Rockwool Group the authors have explored how to green the marketing mix. This has shown that product, place and promotion have several factors that can be greened. However, this specific case study only shows how prices set a premium are greened. Another case focusing on standard prices can provide further suggestions to green the price.</p>

Building healthy affordable homes : an assessment of the health dimensions of green communities’ building standards

Despite the considerable improvements in housing conditions during the last decade, housing still remains a critical determinant of one’s health. Broader social and environmental issues that are associated with housing and health problems have emerged. Such issues include neighborhood characteristics, individual behaviors and associated health outcomes, social backgrounds, and housing affordability as well as the physical conditions of housing. Many low-income families’ substandard housing conditions make them suffer from housing-related health problems more seriously. This report suggests a green affordable housing program, in particular Green Communities, as one of the solutions to address this issue. To understand how Green Communities affects one’s health, this report evaluates existing Green Communities’ criteria against housing health performance criteria that are developed based on a literature review. After the evaluation, this report suggests how current green affordable housing practices can be improved to be a health promotion tool. / text
