Children's Self-reported Emotions and Emotional Facial Expressions Following Moral Transgressions

Dys, Sebastian P. 22 November 2013 (has links)
This study examined self-reported emotions and emotional facial expressions following moral transgressions using an ethnically diverse sample of 242 4-, 8-, and 12-year-old children. Self-reported emotions were examined in response to three transgression contexts: an intentional harm, an instance of social exclusion, and an omission of a prosocial duty. Children’s emotional expressions of sadness, happiness, anger, fear and disgust were analyzed immediately after being asked how they would feel if they had committed one of the described transgressions. Emotional expressions were scored using automated emotion recognition software. Four-year-olds reported significantly more happiness as compared to 8- and 12-year-olds. In addition, self-reports of sadness decreased between 8- and 12-year-olds, while self-reported guilt increased between these age groups. Furthermore, 4- and 8-year-olds demonstrated higher levels of facially expressed happiness than 12-year-olds. These findings highlight the role of automatic affective and controlled cognitive processes in the development of children’s emotions following moral transgressions.

Vida feliz na filosofia de Santo Agostinho

No. of bitstreams: 1 arquivototal.pdf: 709603 bytes, checksum: 5e089b4c6f31e1d4e99693fff85eb6dd (MD5) Previous issue date: 2006-11-01 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / Based on a little text by Saint Augustine, named De Beata Vita, written during a cultural retreat in 388 B.C., this paper aimed at comprehending the reasons that drive the mankind, in a universal attitude, to seek a happy life, as well as understanding the ways proposed by Augustine to reach what is, according to himself, the only purpose for which people think philosophically (Conf. I, I, 1). It was possible to verify, then, that the Bishop of Hippo, entirely submissive to Christian faith and under great influence of the eudemonistic Greeck tradition, developed a practica, fundamentally ethical and moral philosophy, which, by exalting virtue and disengaging from merely temporal values, sought happiness in what was not perishable. For all that is subject to time may have its nature corrupted by the evil, which, in his comprehension, is the lack or distortion of what is good. Acknowledging then that only God is eternal and not subject to time, and that He could not be lost or modified, Augustine inferred that seeking happiness was, inevitably, seeking God. However, he knew that men could not reach God by their own effort, given that He is infinite. So, some divine helpe becomes necessary: grace. At this point, Augustine separated from the Greek, as he substituted human knowledge whith divine knowledge. Thus, without abandoning intelligible comprehensio, necessary for recognizing what coud be called beata vita, he tries, through conscience experience and auto comprehension, to find spiritual plenitude, in which would be perfect Truth and true freedom, without which living true happiness would be impossible. I, I, 1).

Krajhanzl, Martin January 2008 (has links)

Lindberg, Johannes January 2017 (has links)
Detta sker i det så kallade privata meddelandet / Along with the rise of the Internet human interaction, communication and organisaiton have come to see new opportunities. In this study we will explore the fringes of the internet to explore a forum discussing thaimassage with sexual services also known as Happy Ending. Thanks to netnographic methods and sociological and criminological theory we will put the sex buyer in a social context. Extra focus is given to the first timer. The results of this study shows that criminal or deviant behavior can be learned from a forum online. In particular that the first time sexbuyer gets inspiration from and help to learn how to become a sexbuyer. Other results include the organisational setup surrounding the analyzed forum as well as a brief quantitative calculation on occurences of Happy Endings.

Made available in DSpace on 2016-04-04T18:31:39Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 Deivis Fernandes Pirani.pdf: 1504986 bytes, checksum: e4989c06d3fc9c76df085862e18609d0 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2014-02-07 / This paper shows a field-trial investigation comparing the use of IPv4 and IPv6 protocols on web pages access considering the real user perspective and the transition period from IPv4 to IPv6. To perform this study, it was developed a testbed in which three adressing configurations of Internet Protocol, IPv4, IPv6, and Duas Stack (IPv4+IPv6), were used to access the top 100 world most visited web pages with an IPv6 enabled address. In addiction, several software tools were developed, that enabled more than 600 simultaneous accesses between IPv4, IPv6 and Dual Stack, to each of these pages. Those accesses were performed every hour during the period of a month, enabling to obtain more than 20 GB of information on the web access. Results showed that lower loading times obtained by IPv6 and Dual Stack are related to the partial acquisition of the content. In fact, for IPv6, the number of web pages with faster loading times goes from 57 to 20% when the average number of bytes obtained by IPv6 and the IPv4 is similar. For Dual Stack the number goes from 25 to 5% given the same conditions. It was also noted that 18 of the 100 pages which were considered, no content would be presented to the user in more than 50% of the performed accesses. Regarding the preference for IPv6 instead of IPv4, on Dual Stack it was observed that 90% of the acquired content for 27 of 100 web pages was made by IPv6.
