Refugee COVID report 1: Getting the message. On official advice around COVID19 for asylum seeking and refugee communities in Bradford

Haith-Cooper, Melanie, Rattray, Marcus, Wareham, A., McCarthy, R. 12 October 2021 (has links)
Yes / In this report we focus on refugee and asylum seekers views on receiving, understanding and improving messages about public health advice. Refugees and asylum seekers as a group have incomplete access to television and WIFI or data to access the information they need in they way they prefer. Refugees and asylum seekers have constructive suggestions on how to improve key messages so they can be better understood. There is an ongoing risk to refugee and asylum seeker health, and population health if people are unable to receive official messages in a way that is relevant to them. / University of Bradford, NHS England

Davidsson, Ethel, Hultman Brikell, Margareta January 2012 (has links)

This study sought to understand and discuss the formation of health advisors, focusing on Municipal Health Council of Volta Redonda , located in the Middle Paraíba , State of Rio de Janeiro region. Their goal was to analyze the training initiatives of directors developed during 2005 to 2012; the Municipal Board of Health, with the prospect to identify what are the main challenges in relation to the training of counselors. The research was guided by the following questions: Who organizes training activities of counselors ? About Demand? What is the place of health advisors in these formative processes ? Who defines the issues to be worked on in training activities ? Which conceptions of training are we talking? To study the development of training initiatives were raised and directors conducted or supported by CMS Volta Redonda in delimited period and made the mapping of the directors who participated in the training / capacity building activities. The methodology involved questionnaires and documentary research , with a view to ascertaining and assessing the key challenges identified by the directors in relation to training activities . We attempted to also know the degree of knowledge of each other on policy formation health counselors provided by the National Health Council Our discussion points to the need for review of education policy advisers with a view to rethink it. Based on the thought of Paulo Freire and Vincent Valla , discussed the importance of including the counselors in the organization , defining the contents and methodologies , as well as the proposition of training activities , since they are active subjects who can from their experience and experience bring rich contributions to overcome the difficulties

Developing and Evaluating Web Marking Tools as a Complementary Service for Medical Telephone-Based Advice-Giving

Vlasenko, Anton January 2017 (has links)
This master thesis reports on potentially useful applications for “The social layer concept”, consisting of a combination of telephone-based health advice-giving and dynamic marking of shared web pages, with the aim to contribute to the online health counselling domain. An experimental user study was performed to test a web marking tool prototype. The experimental tool was shown to be useful in helping clients focus on relevant health information and dynamic web marking does provide a useful and complementary service to telephone-based advice-giving. It was considered most useful for complex health advice-giving issues.

Alcohol related health advice and the role of the General Dental Practitioner

Shepherd, Simon January 2017 (has links)
Alcohol misuse and related harm costs money, drains resource and takes lives. Alcohol brief interventional advice forms an important method to moderate alcohol consumption at both individual and population level. Alcohol exerts a significant negative influence on the oral cavity and is implicated in the development of oro-mucosal and dental disease. Alcohol and tobacco smoking are recognised a key aetiological agents in the development of oral cancer which is the 14th most common cancer, accounting for approximately 2% of new cases, killing over 2300 people in the UK every year. A crucial weapon to tackle the disease is prevention through management of those modifiable lifestyle factors. The role of the general dental practitioner (GDP) in providing alcohol advice has received sparse attention, however evidence suggests that GDPs do not routinely engage in this activity. The aim of this research was to identify factors preventing or facilitating GDP engagement and develop strategies to support them to deliver alcohol advice. GDPs salient beliefs were applied, using behaviour change theories (the Theory of Planned Behaviour and Social Cognitive Theory), to formulate a theory based questionnaire. A postal survey (n=300, RR 60%) identified that few (17%) GDPs routinely provide advice to patients exposing potential for improvement. Subsequent exploratory multiple regression analysis identified 5 key items which might act as targets. The resultant five-item model accounted for 41% of the variance in intention [Adjusted R2 for this model is .41; F = 15.34 (.001)].A theoretically informed intervention was administered as a multi-centre, parallel group, three-arm randomized controlled pilot study. The aims were to test the feasibility and acceptability of implementing an alcohol advice intervention in dental primary care. The intervention was not entirely acceptable to patients or dentists. Qualitative analysis revealed factors (not limited) to remuneration, perceived relevance, confidence, embarrassment and fear of consequences mar progress. Modifications to study processes and methods would seem a sensible prior to further study.
