Att stödja föräldrar på Barnavårdscentralen (BVC) : En kvalitativ intervjustudie om BVC-sjuksköterskors erfarenheter / Parenting support at the childhealth centre : A qualitative interview study aboutchild health nurses experiencesÅberg, Cecilia January 2010 (has links)
It is important to have support available for those who need it in order for parents to safely meet the needs of their child, and to strengthen the development of their child. The Child Health Nurse has a central role in supporting parents with childen aged 0-6 years. The aim of this study was to describe Child Health Nurses experiences of supporting parents. The method being used was a qualitative content analysis with an inductive approach described by Lundman and Hällgren Graneheim. The data was collected through interviews with four Child Health Nurses. The result shows that the Child Health Nurses experienced that parenting support was something which took place each time they met with the parents. By being there for the family and by strengthening the own resources of the parents, she could support their parenting. A changed society demanded a change in child health care and the conditions given influenced the support available for parents.</p>

Learning with peers: a descriptive study of Hope Cancer Health CentreRae, Jean Berkeley 05 1900 (has links)
Self-help groups have emerged as a system of care for groups of people
sharing a common problem or condition. Most of the interest in research came
from professionals in mental health and social services. Educators have
traditionally viewed self-help groups as outside their domain. The focus of this
study is the phenomenon of personal change within self-help groups. This is
viewed as “learning with peers.”
The subject of the study was HOPE Cancer Health Centre, a non-profit
community based self-help organization in Vancouver, B.C. Appropriate to the
study of phenomena in their natural surroundings, data collection methods were
qualitative in nature. Fourteen in-depth interviews were carried out with
members and leaders of the self-help group. Two introductory workshops were
attended for participant observation and several pertinent documents were
reviewed. A full description of HOPE Cancer Health Centre as a self-help group
and as a context for adult learning was developed. To clarify the description of
HOPE, a framework of characteristics of self-help groups was developed. It was
used to organize data collection and analysis. Compilation and analysis of the
findings created a description of HOPE that adds to the understanding of self-help
groups as organizations in a larger system of care provision. It also adds to the
understanding of HOPE as an organization with the purpose to assist cancer
patients who are interested in actively participating in their cancer treatment and
recovery. In order to enhance understanding of adult learning in the context of a selfhelp
group, three perspectives from the literature on adult learning were selected
for their potential to organize and explain the resulting data. Four important
themes emerged from the data on the learning experiences of the members of
HOPE. First, the ideology of HOPE, “self as participant in healing,” is the
framework of learning and within that frame there are four forms of learning, the
forms of transformative learning being the most significant. Second, for the
learners of HOPE, the basis of knowledge is their personal experience; therefore,
processes of experiential learning are important as well as those of perspective
transformation. Third, the affective dimension of the experiential learning process
was found to be integral in the process of learning. The fourth theme is “learning
with peers,” the innate characteristic of self-help groups. All members interviewed
placed high value on their experiences of learning with peers and of learning at
HOPE. Meaningful interpretation of the data resulted from application of
concepts and theoretical propositions from three perspectives on adult learning:
experiential learning, transformative learning and situated learning.

Visuomenės sveikatos centro darbuotojų pasitenkinimas darbu / Satisfaction with work of the public health centre employeesLabašauskaitė, Milda 15 June 2006 (has links)
Aim of the study: – investigate and compare the satisfaction of work of the personnel working in the Kaunas Centre of Public Health (KCPH) and its subsidiaries.
Methods: - The personnel of KCPH and its subsidiaries took part in the inquiry. There were 193 questionnaires distributed, 150 of them were completed and returned. The response rate was 77.7%. The 7 – point Likert scale was used in the survey where 1 point stood for “totally disagree”, and 7 points for “totally agree”. The acquired inquiry results data were then processed and analyzed using SPSS version 9.0 Statistical software package. Hypothesis about the absence of interdependence between the two indicators were verified using the chi-square (χ2) criterion. Results differences at p < 0.05 level were considered as statistically significant. Means, standard deviations (SD) and confidence intervals (CI) were also calculated. The strength of relation among the rating variables was verified using Spirmen coefficient of correlation.
Results: - In the KCPH subsidiaries 50% of the personnel are elder than 50 years of age. 49.1% of the KCPH subsidiaries employees have secondary education. General satisfaction with the work, independently of working place, is higher than average (4.98). The most satisfied with the work are the ones who have secondary education (5.33), elder than 50 years of age (5.31) and the ones who have 26 or more years of previous experience in the field (5.52). The motivation actions were identified... [to full text]

Planning primary health care provision : assessment of development work at a health centreWestman, Göran January 1986 (has links)
At the Primary Health Care Centre in Vännäs (VPHCC), northern Sweden, a development work was implemented in 1976-1980. The overall purpose was to enhance primary health care planning. In trying to improve health care delivery cooperation with community members was initiated and some organizational changes like a new appointment system, a new medical record and local care programs for some common diseases were introduced. Official statistics were also used for comparative purposes. The aims of the work were postulated (increased accessibility, higher continuity, more equitable distribution and enhanced cooperation) and suitable methods were designed. From postal surveys, chartreviews and administrative data (from hospitals, out-patient clinics and health centres) figures and information were collected. Accessibility was studied by waiting room time which was reduced and continuity, analyzed with a new concept - visit based provider continuity - was improved. The question of equitable distribution was studied by the consultation rates at different out-patient clinics. It seemed as if the local development work changed the patterns of utilization but some important issues were not decisively answered. Repeated postal surveys reflected the question of equitable distribution and the cooperation between the VPHCC and the community members. Positive responses were recorded in aspects like telephone accessibility and health care information. In a tracer study of diabetes the quality of care was studied. The local care program was actually implemented in the daily practice but the question of care quality needs further penetration. Within the frames of the development work new methods in the health care planning were introduced. Our work started from the prerequisits of the VPHCC and other health centres might find other ways of planning for care provision. On a general level, however, the structure of our work - defining aims, means and evaluation methods - can be used by others. / <p>Diss. Positive practice environments in community health centres of the North West Province: a case study / Tinda Rabie.Rabie, Tinda January 2012 (has links)
The practice environment of nurses plays a very important role in the delivery of quality health care. However, there is limited knowledge on what positive practice environments entail with specific reference to the primary health context of the public health care sector of South Africa. Nurses in this context are the frontline health personnel and are affected not only by nursing shortages, but also high workloads as the public health care sector serves 83% of the South African population and the private health care sector only 17%. In this study the researcher decided to conduct a study to explore the practice environment of nurses in the primary health care context as no studies have previously been undertaken in this regard.
The researcher used a case study design with quantitative and qualitative approaches and implemented descriptive, explanatory and contextual strategies. This design, together with the findings of objectives one, two and three, the World Health Organization Strengthening of Health Systems and Fourteen Forces of Magnetism Frameworks and inductive and deductive logic enabled the researcher to achieve the overarching aim, which is objective four, of this study.
Descriptive statistics, confirmatory factor analysis and Cronbach’s alpha assisted the researcher in assessing the demographic profile (objective 1) and the status of the practice environment of community health centres in North West Province (objective 2). Thereafter, the researcher was also able to identify the community health centre with the most favourable practice environment in order to conduct semi-structured individual interviews (objective 3).
The descriptive data of objective 1 revealed that community health centres in the North West Province are located on average 36 km from the nearest referral hospital to which an average of five patients per day are referred. The average number of patients consulted per month is 3 545 of which the nurse consults an average of 40 and the physician 15 patients per day.
In the community health centres the average age of nurses is 40, with 10 years of nursing experience. There were more female than male nurses of which 65% of the registered nurses had a diploma in nursing and had only started their careers at 31 years of age. There is an average of eleven registered nurses, five auxiliary and one enrolled nurse in the community health centres of which only four of the registered nurses (36%) had a qualification in Clinical Health Assessment, Treatment and Care. The overall staff turnover rates were very low and the satisfaction levels were high.
The factor analysis of objective 2 revealed that the Practice Environment Scale of the Nursing Work Index’s sub-scales staffing and resource adequacy and nurse participation in primary health care/community health centre affairs had means below 2.5, indicating that nurses were not in agreement with these sub-scales. However, nurse manager ability, leadership and support; collegial nurse-physician relationships and nursing foundations for quality of care had a mean above 2.5 indicating that the nurses were in agreement with these sub-scales.
Lastly, the qualitative findings indicated that although the community health centres with the most favourable practice environment were affected by factors that decrease quality of care which included a lack of resources, limited infrastructure, limited support from pharmacy and staff shortages. These mentioned factors were not in the control of the community health centres. Although the community health centres were affected by the above-mentioned factors these community health centres excelled in support, leadership and governance, collegial nurse-physician relationships and factors influencing quality of care which were in the control of the community health centre. / Thesis (PhD (Nursing))--North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2013.
