Previous issue date: 2017-05-19 / Considering the foliation induced by a complex holomorph vector field, we will look for topological invariants in the neighborhood of a singular point. At first, the Milnor Number of a vector field becomes important, in the sense that this number is topological invariant. In another discussion, we will emphasize vector fields in dimension two, in which case the leaves, whose foliation is induced by the field, will be integral curves of a 1-form. In this sense, we will deal with Desingularization, that is, after a finite number of processes, which we will call Blow-ups or explosions, we will turn the initial foliation into a foliation whose singularities are all simple. Finally, the Desingularization process of a field will give us tools that make it possible to relate the data obtained in this process to the objects treated throughout the work, with this we will present other topological invariants of foliations.

Improving Network Reductions for Power System AnalysisJanuary 2017 (has links)
abstract: The power system is the largest man-made physical network in the world. Performing analysis of a large bulk system is computationally complex, especially when the study involves engineering, economic and environmental considerations. For instance, running a unit-commitment (UC) over a large system involves a huge number of constraints and integer variables. One way to reduce the computational expense is to perform the analysis on a small equivalent (reduced) model instead on the original (full) model.
The research reported here focuses on improving the network reduction methods so that the calculated results obtained from the reduced model better approximate the performance of the original model. An optimization-based Ward reduction (OP-Ward) and two new generator placement methods in network reduction are introduced and numerical test results on large systems provide proof of concept.
In addition to dc-type reductions (ignoring reactive power, resistance elements in the network, etc.), the new methods applicable to ac domain are introduced. For conventional reduction methods (Ward-type methods, REI-type methods), eliminating external generator buses (PV buses) is a tough problem, because it is difficult to accurately approximate the external reactive support in the reduced model. Recently, the holomorphic embedding (HE) based load-flow method (HELM) was proposed, which theoretically guarantees convergence given that the power flow equations are structure in accordance with Stahl’s theory requirements. In this work, a holomorphic embedding based network reduction (HE reduction) method is proposed which takes advantage of the HELM technique. Test results shows that the HE reduction method can approximate the original system performance very accurately even when the operating condition changes. / Dissertation/Thesis / Doctoral Dissertation Electrical Engineering 2017

Consequentemente, Hw(U; F) = Hwu(U; F) / Abstract: Let E and F be complex Banach spaces, and let U be an open set in E. In this work we study the subspaces Hwu(U; F), Hw(U; F), Hwsc(U; F) and HwC(U; F) of H(U; F). More specifically, if U is a balanced open set we characterize functions of these subespaces in terms of equicontinuity conditions of the polynomials in the Taylor series. We study under which conditions these subspaces coincide, and then we extend the results given in Aron, Herves and Valdivia [2] to the case of balanced open sets. If E has a shrinking and unconditional basis, and U is an open ball in E we show that each holomorphic function f : U 'seta' F that is bounded on weakly compact U-bounded sets is bounded on U-bounded sets.

In this thesis we study the set E(U) of all holomorphic functions f : U --> C such that U is the domain of existence of f. More specifically, we will see that under some hypotheses there are several algebraic structures inside the set E(U). Our goal is not only to prove the existence of distinct linear/algebraic structures in E(U), but also to show that these structures are in some way "large''. First we study the algebra of the holomorphic functions whose domains are open subsets of separable Banach spaces. Next we investigate the algebra of the holomorphic functions whose domains are open subsets of DFC spaces, which are in turn restricted to spaces of the form E = F'_c with F a separable Fréchet space / Doutorado / Matematica / Doutor em Matemática

Rigidity And Regularity Of Holomorphic MappingsBalakumar, G P 07 1900 (has links) (PDF)
We deal with two themes that are illustrative of the rigidity and regularity of holomorphic
mappings.
The first one concerns the regularity of continuous CR mappings between smooth pseudo convex, finite type hypersurfaces which is a well studied subject for it is linked with the problem of studying the boundary behaviour of proper holomorphic mappings between domains bounded by such hypersurfaces. More specifically, we study the regularity of Lipschitz CR mappings from an h-extendible(or semi-regular) hypersurface in Cn .Under various assumptions on the target hypersurface, it is shown that such mappings must be smooth. A rigidity result for proper holomorphic mappings from strongly pseudo convex domains is also proved.
The second theme dealt with, is the classification upto biholomorphic equivalence of model domains with abelian automorphism group in C3 .It is shown that every model domain i.e.,a hyperbolic rigid polynomial domainin C3 of finite type, with abelian automorphism group is equivalent to a domain that is balanced with respect to some weight.
