Konservatismen under Churchill, Thatcher och Cameron : En idéanalys av valmanifest och partiledarnas biografier / Conservatism under Churchill, Thatcher and Cameron : An idea analysis of election manifestos and political biographies

Lindvall, Marcus January 2016 (has links)
The purpose of this paper is to study how the conservatism have changed in the conservative party in the United Kingdom and what influence the party leader seems to have over the party ideology. To answer this purpose an idea analysis is used and a material consisting of election manifestos from three periods of the party´s history (Churchill, Thatcher and Cameron) but even political biographies of the leaders. The result shows some difference between the manifestos and the leaders, but even some similarities. One difference, but also a similarity over time, is the view of a cooperation in Europe. Churchill’s manifestos are positive to a cooperation between nations in Europe, Thatcher and Cameron there manifestos share the same skeptics against a further European cooperation. One similarity over time is the support for family as one of the central values in the country. About the leaders and the manifestos there are some similarities, but also some difference between them. Example of similarities are Churchill and the manifestos support full employment, Thatcher and the manifestos support aim on inflation. Cameron is personally divvied in his relation to trade unions and so is the manifestos. One difference between Churchill and the manifestos is that Churchill accepted capital punishment, but the manifestos never take a stand in this issue. Thatcher and the manifestos don’t share the same view on homosexuality rights, Thatcher is negative and the manifestos not even take a stand. Cameron´s view on privatization is unown, but the manifestos are positive.

The effects of force protection : An idea analysis

Thesslin, Emma January 2015 (has links)
How can we successfully complete our missions while we are stuck in bunkers? A question representative of a hot topic of discussion regarding the restrictions of force protection measures that are placed on US troops conducting military operations abroad. The discussion, which peaked during the late 1990s early 2000s, was heavily weighted in one direction, namely claiming that force protection has a negative impact on military effectiveness. As the claim generalises force protection, a concept that has numerous definitions and even more interpretations, it therefore seems unlikely that such a generalisation can be made. This study analyses the claim using an idea analysis method, questioning its sustainability and presenting a way of understanding its limitations. In studying the circumstances of the reports that triggered this discussion, the analysis allows us to see the limited relevance of the claim with regard to the broader concept of force protection, while acknowledging its possible relevance regarding the specific aspects that are more commonly associated with the concept.

I huvudet på Försvarsdepartementet : en idéanalys av svensk veteranpolitik

Hallenheim, Jacob January 2019 (has links)
This Bachelor’s thesis was conducted with the purpose of forming a broader foundation of ideas for questions about caring for veterans in Sweden. The problem at hand was identified through reading of readily available and widely cited Swedish research on the subject. This research mainly establishes a narrative in which Swedish veterans are healthy at group level - both compared to the Swedish civilian population and international veteran populations. This thesis does not challenge this conclusion, but considers the causation utilized in the research as problematic. Establishing that Sweden should conduct debate and policy concerning its veterans on contemporary knowledge in the field – this study analyses the most recent policy investigation conducted by the government, SOU2014:27. The main questions concern descriptive ambitions and simply ask what causations these policy documents recognize in describing and curing mental illness among veterans and whether contemporary identity perspectives are represented in these ideas or not. The study is based on Vedung’s ideas of the political idea and utilizes an idea analysis method with ideal types as analytical instruments – a research design strongly guided by Bergström and Boréus. The findings show that Swedish policy is mostly established on traditional ideas concerning mental illness among veterans – although a big part of the policy concerning the involvement of society at large, can be interpreted as identity driven ideas. The main conclusion is that empirics indicate a presence of stigmatizing military identities among Swedish veterans. To truly understand the Swedish veteran population and their well-being, there is an urgent need for further research on this topic in particular.

IDÉER OM JÄMSTÄLLDHETSINTEGRERING : En analys av övergripande tankemönster inom statliga myndigheter / Ideas of gender mainstreaming : an analysis of overall thought patterns within government agencies

Eriksson, Klara January 2023 (has links)
Previous research indicates that gender mainstreaming is difficult to apply. Obstacles such as lack of political will, cultural and institutional resistance, lack of understanding, clashing perspectives and priorities, as well as insufficient resources, are most often cited as the cause. This study, against the background that these obstacles are founded in institutional contexts, intends to use feminist institutionalism to analyze state authorities' ideas about gender mainstreaming through the analysis of values, descriptions, and prescriptions. The results show that analyzed authorities are consistent in their basic ideas and values, where the strategy is taken seriously and seen as important. The annual reports are prepared in an operational manner, which shows action and progress. The result indicates that there is a general lack of prescriptions.

Rönnlund, Fredrik January 2009 (has links)

Even though terrorism has been on the political agenda for several years there is no general accepted definition of the phenomena of terrorism. Several scientist do also apply that terrorism have changed after the 9/11-attacks. The purpose with this thesis was to analyze and compare the image of terrorism represented by the United States, United Kingdom, Sweden and Norway, in an attempt to draw conclusions about similarities and differentials. The material that was used was these four nations individual counter terrorism strategy. This was made by using idea analysis and self constructed dimensions based on earlier science about security, terrorism and international law. A result of this study showed that there is a consensus about terrorism as a high existential threat because of the religious extremism that is related to Al Qaeda and justifies mass murder and have showed attempt to acquire weapons of mass destruction. On this adoption the nations in this study justifies extraordinary actions in cooperation against global terrorism. It is however some differentials about the means to counter this threat. The United States, United Kingdom and Norway describes in their strategy that the threat of Al Qaeda and its allies should be met by military force. United Kingdom describes that the military action is to consider as an exception based on the extraordinary threat that Al Qaeda poses. Sweden on the other hand shows a description of terrorism as a criminal act that should be met by national measures.

Sverigedemokraterna: Ett radikalt högerpopulistiskt parti? : En idealtypsanalys av Sverigedemokraternas principprogram (2011)

Avetisova, Anastasia January 2015 (has links)
The Sweden Democrats has become the third largest party in Sweden after the parliamentary elections in 2014. Ever since the party was founded in 1988, debates regarding the party’s policy has been of great interests but also the party’s ideological affiliation whether to classify it as a populist radical right party or not. Furthermore, many scientists have arrived at the conclusion that the Sweden Democrats should be seen as a populist radical right party. This conclusion makes it interesting to further investigate what ideological affilitation the party should identify itself with since the party itself argues to be a social conservative party with a nationalist ethos. With this in mind, the purpose of this study is to examine if the party has populist radical right fundamentals in its recent policy program through the use of the method idea analysis and through the use of creating an ideal type of the theory populist radical right. In addition, it has thus been possible to confirm or to deny the Sweden Democrats as a populist radical right party. The result of this thesis has shown that the policy program does consist of populist radical right elements. Hence, it has been concluded that the Sweden Democrats should be categorized as a populist radical right party.

Kreativitetens språkdräkt : En jämförande studie av begreppet kreativitet i 1996 och 2009 års kulturpropositioner / The linguistic costume of creativity : A comparative study of the concept of creativity in the 1996- and 2009 culture propositions

Myrvik, Angelica January 2017 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to describe, analyse and compare the use of the concept creativity in 1996- and 2009 culture propositions. Various aspects of creativity have been investigated using the methods of idea analysis and conceptual history. The result is presented on the basis of three issues that concern: what linguistic space creativity is given as a word; who is considered creative and; what function creativity has in cultural policy. Creativity has clearly gone from being a descriptive word to standing as its own concept in noun form, but in the sense of artistic renewal, the term is very present in both propositions. Most people are considered as having creative potential, but young adults and professional artists are the most prominent groups in the material. Artistic renewal is increasingly motivated by market interests, although other softer values are represented.
