Este estudo in vitro teve como objetivo avaliar a precisão de uma técnica de registro (Index) e de três técnicas de moldagem (transferentes Cônicos, Quadrados e Quadrados unidos) associadas a três técnicas de vazamento (Convencional, com tubos de Látex e com análogos unidos com Duralay) para próteses implantossuportadas. Todos os componentes protéticos utilizados foram da empresa Conexão (Conexão Sistemas de Prótese). Foi construído um modelo mestre de latão simulando um arco inferior desdentado onde foram fixados provisoriamente quatro análogos de pilares Micro-Unit perpendicularmente à superfície e paralelos entre si, sendo denominados análogos A, B, C e D. Uma estrutura metálica foi confeccionada e parafusada a quatro novos análogos. Este conjunto foi cimentado passivamente no modelo mestre com resina epóxica. Foram confeccionadas (com 2 mm de alívio) uma moldeira individual de alumínio para a técnica com os transferentes quadrados unidos e outra para as técnicas com os transferentes cônicos e quadrados. O material de moldagem utilizado foi um poliéter (Impregum Soft Média Viscosidade - 3M ESPE) e o gesso empregado foi um gesso tipo IV (Vel-Mix, Kerr), espatulado à vácuo. Foi obtido um total de cinquenta modelos, sendo cinco por técnica. A estrutura metálica foi parafusada com um torque de 10 Ncm em todos os modelos no análogo A, enquanto as medições das fendas formadas foram feitas nos análogos C e D. Este processo foi repetido no análogo D, anotando-se as medidas dos análogos A e B. Estas medições foram feitas por um programa (Leica QWin) que recebia as imagens de uma câmara de vídeo... / Among the countless clinical and laboratories procedures of a prosthetic treatment, the implant impression and pouring techniques for implant-supported restorations are still responsible for great concern and controversy among the researches. This study in vitro investigated the accuracy of a stone Index and of three impression techniques (tapered impression copings, squared impression copings and squared impression copings splinted with Duralay resin) associated to three pouring techniques (Conventional, with tubes of Latex and joining the analogs with Duralay resin) for an osseointegrated implant-supported prostheses. Conexão (Conexão Systems of Prosthesis) prosthetic components were used. A mandibular brass cast was constructed with four stainless steel implant abutments analogs 90° to the surface and parallel among themselves, being denominated analog A, B, C and D. A master framework was made and screwed to four new analogs, which were cemented passively into the model master with epoxy resin. This formed a metal implant cast with a passive implant framework fitted to it. An aluminum custom tray was fabricated for the technique copings splinted with Duralay and other for the techniques tapered and squared copings. Polyether impression material (Impregum Soft medium consistency - 3M ESPE) was used for all impressions. A total of fifty stone casts were formed by carefully vibrating improved dental stone (Vel-Mix, Kerr), mixed under vacuum, being five for technique. The standard framework was seated on each cast and guide pin was tightened in the analog A to 10 Ncm using a torque driver, while the measurements of abutment / framework interface gaps were made in analogs C and D. Les nanotechnologies représentent un potentiel de développements et d’applications considérables dans le domaine des matériaux ouvrant la voie à d’innombrables développements pour l’énergie, le transport, la santé, l’industrie, etc. Le biomimétisme a ainsi trouvé un nouveau moteur d'étude et de développement. La feuille de lotus est capable de faire perler l’eau avec une efficacité remarquable transformant n’importe quelle goutte d’eau en une bille répondant aux lois de la physique des solides. Cette propriété extraordinaire est due à l’association d’une composition chimique intrinsèquement hydrophobe avec une texturation hiérarchique de sa surface.Cette thèse s’intéresse à la compréhension des principes physiques qui régissent l'interaction des gouttes d'eau avec les surfaces de films polymères structurées de FEP, PMMA et PET. Deux technologies ont été mises en oeuvre pour la fabrication de surfaces superhydrophobes hiérarchiques : la nanoimpression (NIL) thermique et la gravure plasma. Nous avons mesuré les angles de contact et hystérésis de ces surfaces structurées afin d’identifier leur état de mouillage de Wenzel ou de Cassie-Baxter. Nous avons attaché une importance particulière au développement de solutions de fabrication et de caractérisations sur de grandes surfaces.Les propriétés antigivre ont été caractérisées, ainsi le rôle de la condensation dans la propagation du givre a été corrélé à la structuration de surface. De plus, nous avons mis en évidence le rôle du potentiel électrostatique de surface sur les retards de gel. Enfin, au vue du potentiel applicatif de ces surfaces, nous avons ajouté une dimension dynamique à l’étude en considérant les vitesses d’impact des gouttes. Un modèle de prédiction de la littérature a été comparé avec succès aux résultats expérimentaux. / Nanotechnologies represent a considerable potential of development and application in the field of material science opening the way to innumerable developments for energy, transport, health, industry, and so on. Thus, biomimicry found a new driving force for study and development. The lotus leaf is able to repulse water with a remarkable efficiency transforming any drop of water into a ball following the laws of solid physics. This extraordinary property is due to the association of a hydrophobic chemical composition with a hierarchical texturing of its surface.This thesis focuses on the understanding of the physical principles governing the interaction of water drops on the surfaces of structured polymer films of FEP, PMMA and PET. Two technologies have been implemented for the production of hierarchical superhydrophobic surfaces: thermal nanoimprint lithography (NIL) and plasma etching. We have measured the contact angles and hysteresis of these structured surfaces in order to identify their Wenzel or Cassie-Baxter wetting state. We have attached particular importance to the development of manufacturing and characterization solutions on large surfaces.The anti-icing properties have been characterized and the role of condensation in the propagation of frost has been correlated with the surface texturing. In addition, we have highlighted the role of the electrostatic surface potential on frost delays. Finally, in view of the applicative potential of these surfaces, we added a dynamic dimension in the study considering the velocity of drops impact. A model of prediction from the literature was successfully compared to our experimental results.

Political Communication Strategies Applied on Business Organizations

The purpose of this paper is to describe the current communication techniques and strategies used by political parties resulting in these parties achieving significant growth, understand the components of those communication techniques in order to isolate the factors attributing to this achieved success and develop a model that can be replicated from a business organization in order to achieve similar beneficial results.The study revealed that there is a clear connection between political parties and business organizations, broadening the research fields of both entities respectively. Furthermore, the findings were categorized based on potential value, with practices such as “thriving on dissatisfaction”, “taking advantage of emotions”, “showing visible structures as an organization / political party”, “intentional use of weak signals”, “leader’s direct connection to audience” and “formulating receiver interpretation of signals” appearing to have high potential in achieving success if implemented correctly in the communication strategy.

Best practice or PR strategy? : Integrated reports as impression management in a Swedish mining company

Environmental and social problems are often connected to the mining industry. Hence, there is a history of conflicts between industry actors and stakeholders such as non-governmental organizations, regional politicians, environmental authorities, academics, community researchers, tourism industry and indigenous people. Despite being criticized for some of its work on sustainability, mining companies have indeed improved their communication regarding sustainability and are even considered to be at the forefront of corporate sustainability communication in general, predominantly in the area of sustainability, or integrated, reporting. Thus, a question is how the mining industry can be seen at the cutting edge regarding sustainability communication while also considered as one of the most unsustainable industries? One way of approaching such questions in the field of accounting and control is through the analytical framework of impression management, focusing on how companies through their reporting manage impressions of themselves on their stakeholders. Despite the strategic importance in which the information is presented in integrated reports, the full range of impression management techniques suggested by Brennan et al. (2009) has not, to our knowledge, been used to understand integrated reports in the mining industry. The Swedish mining company, Luossavaara-Kiirunavaara AB (LKAB), wholly owned by the Swedish state and Europe’s largest producer of iron ore, has been selected as a case company due to its ambition to become a world leader in “best practices” on social and environmental aspects. The purpose of this thesis is to make a detailed review of the integrated reports published by LKAB (2008-2017) through the lens of impression management and decode the expressiveness of impressions related to both qualitative and quantitative information. Using such a lense this study provides evidence that the company distorts information to appear as better rather than report performance objectively. The composite bias score indicates the degree to which information is angled against positive or negative aspects. When the result shows +1, the company is completely positively biased, while -1 indicates that the company is completely negatively biased. The mean of bias score for the years between 2008-2017, shows that the qualitative (quantitative) information totals to 0.76 (0.51) which indicates that both measurements are positively biased. A high score of impression management increases the potential for erroneous decision-making by stakeholders. Furthermore, a comprehensive test of the differences in impression management confirms that a higher result of qualitative and quantitative information occurs when the company performs well and is located in the upper quartile related to profit for the year. The reason is due to the fact that a positive result is related to increased figures which  is reflected in the measurement of quantitative impression management. Hence, a measure of impression management related to Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), indicates that G4 has lower bias score related to both qualitative and quantitative information. GRI G4 is a more comprehensive standard compared to the earlier version, G3. G4 generally causes the case company to report more information. In view of this, it is possible to note that G4 entails a more transparent accounting and reduces the scope for impression management.

Ce travail de thèse s'inscrit dans le contexte de la fonctionnalisation de matériaux cellulosiques dans le domaine de l'électronique imprimée. Une première approche a mis en évidence la possibilité d'imprimer des formulations aqueuses à base de nanoparticules de polymères semi-conducteurs photoluminescents. L'influence de la taille des nanoparticules, ainsi que leur composition (ajout d'un polymère dérive de la cellulose) sur la couleur de l'émission a été mise en évidence. Les applications potentielles peuvent être l'élaboration de papiers sécurisés. Une seconde approche s'est portée sur l'utilisation de microfibrilles de cellulose et de microparticules de cuivre afin d'élaborer des films composites conducteurs autoportants grâce aux excellentes propriétés mécaniques des microfibrilles. L'influence d'un calandrage (pression et température de calandrage) des films sur la conductivité électrique a en particulier été étudiée. / The context of this project is the cellulosic material functionalization in the printed electronic domain. The first part highlighted the ability to print photoluminescent formulations. The aqueous dispersion was composed of semiconducting polymer nanoparticles. The influence of the size and the composition of the particles on the emission colour was studied. Security paper is one of the main potential application of these particles. The second part dealed with the use of cellulose microfibrills and copper microparticles for the elaboration of conductive composite films. The films were self-supporting thanks to the high mechanical properties of the microfibrills. A calendering study was carried out on the electric conductivity of the films based on the influence of the pressure and the temperature of calendering.

Desinfecção de alginato

A presente dissertação, composta de dois manuscritos, buscou preencher lacunas do conhecimento no que diz respeito à desinfecção de impressões de alginato. O primeiro trabalho foi realizado com o intuito de avaliar a eficácia antimicrobiana da solução de glutaraldeído 2% através do seu comportamento bactericida e bacteriostático quando utilizada para desinfecção de impressões de alginato dos pacientes de uma clínica de ensino odontológico de uma instituição federal, durante 28 dias. Logo após a ativação de 3L da solução desinfetante e sempre após a desinfecção de 10 impressões, foram coletadas amostras de 05 mL da solução para a análise microbiológica. No período avaliado, foram imersas 70 impressões de alginato na solução desinfetante. Nenhuma amostra apresentou bactérias viáveis, caracterizando o perfil bacteriostático da solução. Todas as amostras foram capazes de inibir o crescimento de Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, e Staphylococcus aureus, confirmando o poder bactericida da solução, mostrando que um volume de 3L de glutaraldeído 2% é eficaz como desinfetante de até 70 impressões de alginato ao longo do período de 28 dias. O segundo estudo preocupou-se em avaliar a eficácia do glutaraldeído 2% e do ácido peracético 0,2% em eliminar o microrganismo Staphylococcus aureus, sabidamente presente nos corpos de prova de alginato. Os corpos de prova de alginato foram contaminados com caldo de cultura contendo S. aureus. Estes foram divididos em seis grupos: controle, lavado em água estéril, imersão em glutaraldeído 2% por 5 ou 10 min e imersão em em ácido peracético 0,2% por 5 ou 10 min. Após o tratamento, cada corpo de prova foi incubado em tubo de ensaio com 20 mL de caldo BHI estéril. Posteriormente, amostras do caldo de todos os grupos foram semeadas para determinar a presença de células viáveis. Os resultados mostraram que os grupos controle e o lavado em água estéril apresentaram crescimento bacteriano e que ambos desinfetantes foram eficazes em eliminar S. aureus do alginato tanto após 10 quanto 5 min, de imersão. Os achados desta dissertação permitem concluir que: 3L de solução de glutaraldeído são eficazes para desinfetar até 70 impressões de alginato e que o glutaraldeído 2% e o ácido peracético 0,2% são eficazes na desinfecção de alginato contaminado com S. aureus. / This research made an effort to amplify the knowledge about disinfection of alginate dental impression. The aim of the first study was to evaluate the efficacy of 2% glutaraldehyde solution after successive immersions of contaminated alginate impressions of dental patients from a Dental School by analyzing its bacteriostatic and bactericidal activity through 28 days. After the disinfection of every 10 alginate impressions a 10mL sample of the disinfectant solution (05mL) was collected to be microbiological analyzed. In this period, 70 alginate impressions were immersed in the solution. No viable bacterial grouth was observed at any of the microbiology analyses. All the samples tested were able to inhibit the bacterial growth of Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus. The bacteriostatic and bactericidal activity of 2% glutaraldehyde solution was confirmed and 3L of the solution can be safetely used for the disinfection of at least 70 impression during 28 days. The aim of the second study was to evaluate the efficacy of 2% glutaraldehyde and 0.2% peracetic acid against Staphylococcus aureus. Alginate specimens were contaminated at S. aureus culture media. Specimens were divided into six groups: control, washed in sterile water, immersed in 2% glutaraldehyde for 5 or 10 minutes and immersed in 0,12% peracetic acid for 5 or 10 minutes. The results showed that control and sterile water showed bacterial growth and that both disinfectants (glutaraldehyde and peracetic acid) showed efficacy against S. aureus for both immersion period of time (5 and 10 minutes). The findings of these studies allowed the conclusion that 3L of glutaraldehyde solution showed efficacy to disinfect up to 70 alginate impressions and that, both 2% glutaraldehyde and 0.2% peracetic acid are efficient to disinfect S. aureus contamined alginate impressions.

Il s'agit de l'action de cueillir de Ia pluie. La pluie se présente comme matiere plastique de recherche et c'est ce qu'on exprime dans ce travail qui entrelace les Arts Visuels et l'Éducation. De maniere à que l'impression et dilution de l'eau et de supports constituent le mouvement qui montre et parcourt, dans un processus d'expérimentations qui est un apprentissage. Pour ça, cette recherche produit des photographies et s'approche des notions de Ia gravure. Elle essaie des façons de rechercher avec l'art et Ia littérature puisque ces façons ont lieu à travers Ia poétique visuelle et l'écriture. Avec Roland Barthes, elle trouve dans Ia notion de Punctum le dédencheur pour Ia production d'un texte de désir, en s'approchant de l'expression française CoupdeFoudretrouvée dans les contes de Guy de Maupassant. CoupdeFoudrea comme figure l'Amour subit et immédiatpourquelqu'unoAinsi, l'amour, Ia pluie et Ia nuit sont des éléments qui ouvrent le texte et les images produites à des hasards et à des traversements non programmés. Dans cette rencontre entre le processus plastique et l'écriture, cette recherche a, dans Ia brieveté, dans Ia possibilité d'être incitée et aussi dans les marques qui restent et qui se diluent, son apprentissage. Apprentissage sans lequel, autant pour celui qui recherche que pour celui qui lit Ia recherche, un art ne se produitpas. / Trata da ação de colher chuva. A chuva apresenta-se como matéria plástica de pesquisa e é o que se expressa neste trabalho que entrelaça Artes Visuais e Educação. De modo que a impressão e diluição da água e de suportes constituem o movimento que mostra e percorre, num processo de experimentações que é um aprendizado. Para isso, esta pesquisa produz fotografias e se aproxima das noções da gravura. Experimenta maneiras de pesquisar, com a arte e a literatura, sendo que tais maneiras acontecem através da escrita e da poética visual. Com Roland Barthes, encontra na noção de Punctum o disparador para a produção de um texto de desejo. Junto a esta noção, o trabalho aproxima a expressão francesa Coupde Foudreencontrada em contos de Guy de Maupassant. CoupdeFoudretraduz-se literalmente por golpede relâmpagoe tem como figura o Amor àprimeiravista. Assim, o amor, a chuva e a noite são elementos que abrem o texto e as imagens produzidas para acasos e atravessamentos não programados. Neste encontro entre o processo plástico e a escrita, tal pesquisa tem na brevidade, na possibilidade de ser pungido e também nas marcas que permanecem e que se diluem, seu aprendizado. Aprendizado sem o qual, tanto para quem pesquisa ecomo também para quem lê a pesquisa, uma arte não acontece.
