Transformace části domácí blogosféry z formy osobních záznamů do jednoho ze segmentů české žurnalistiky / Czech Blog Transformation: From Private Notes to One Part of The Czech Journalism

Stratilík, Ondřej January 2011 (has links)
Diplomová práce by měla dokázat a popsat proces, v...

No. of bitstreams: 1 ValSilva.pdf: 920543 bytes, checksum: 10eb31d37d41d2203f770bb582e15f2d (MD5) Previous issue date: 2015-08-14 / Conselho Nacional de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico - CNPq / Journalism is the main of many ways to offer themes to discuss and shape the public opinion, but depends on a technical system to be transmitted. For over a hundred years, the information produced by the press were issued, stored, transmitted and received by the so-called mass communication vehicles, using centralized network, whose features are in material shortages, mass production and massification. This system separates in time and space emitters and receivers creating an unequal relation of power, in which large companies have controlled the informative flow, defining what facts would be aired as news. In 1995, the internet which information circulates under distributed network technology, has been appropriated by society, changing the ways of production, storage and transmission of information. The technology aroused the hope that this tool could provide a more dialogic and democratic communication. However, gradually, it is possible to notice new companies taking ownership of the technology of distributed network under which circulates the internet, generating a new control of the information flow. This research conducted a survey and a critical reflection of the different intermediaries between the fact and the news, both in centralized network and in the distributed network, aiming to arouse a discussion that provides new ideas for policies and alternatives for a more libertarian and democratic communication.

[pt] O MERCADO DE DISTRIBUIÇÃO DE NOTÍCIAS NA INTERNET / [en] THE MARKET FOR INTERNET NEWS DISTRIBUTION

VICTOR ALIENDE DA MATTA 23 June 2022 (has links)
[en] This paper studies the role of aggregators as intermediaries in the online news industry. I propose a model where firms must appeal to consumers with differentiated tastes, trading off between a vertical dimension of quality and a horizontal dimension of relevance. In this context, depending on the relative strength of these forces, the presence of the news aggregator may either increase quality and welfare or decrease quality with an ambiguous effect on welfare. I argue that while the first scenario is more in line with the existing theoretical literature on news aggregators, the second seems to be more strongly supported by the empirical evidence. The impact of aggregators in this second scenario may substantiate concerns over the quality of news provision on the internet.

Exploring the narrative structure of internet news

Chen, Ya Hui Unknown Date (has links)

Broken News: Market Segmentation and Selective Exposure in Online News

Lee, Deidra 07 November 2013 (has links)
Research has revealed that more Americans than ever are turning to the World Wide Web as their primary source for news and information instead of legacy media outlets such as printed newspapers and magazines and broadcast news. As more and more people rely on the Internet as a primary source for news, it is important to analyze the characteristics and content of online news to expose and correct problems associated with the practices that inform its production and presentation. There are several longstanding practices in the American journalistic tradition that have been adapted to the online news environment. The practices of market segmentation and gatekeeping are two such practices. To date, few studies have explored how internet news coverage differs when the same story is altered to address the perceived interests of specific target audiences. This goal of this study was to collect and examine the characteristics of news stories presented on the homepages of three news websites—the Huffington Post, Huffington Post Black Voices and News One—to arrive at conclusions about the similarities and differences in how news content is reported to a general audience and to an African-American audience. This exploratory study used both Web sphere analysis and qualitative analysis to examine the collected homepage news stories. It used the results of the analyses to explore the possible effects continued market segmentation and selective exposure online could have on discourse in the public sphere. The study found that the legacy media practice of market segmentation was evident when online news reporting on targeted and untargeted news website homepages was compared. The study also revealed that the traditional role of the Black Press in legacy media has been resurrected in new media and is evident on news websites produced by African-Americans, for an African-American audience. Additionally, a qualitative examination of online news coverage of President Barack Obama’s 2012 State of the Union address and the death of Trayvon Martin revealed that the targeted audience influences the editorial slant through which news websites report stories.

Principy popularizace vědeckých poznatků na českých a amerických zpravodajských serverech / Principles of popularization and media coverage of scientific knowledge on the Czech and American news servers

Samšuková, Eva January 2013 (has links)
Diploma thesis "Principles of popularization of scientific knowledge on the Czech and American news servers" evaluates and compares news published during three month period in scientific sections of news servers in the Czech Republic and the United States of America. The thesis follows room provided for scientific topics, the audiovisual features and theme agenda on NYTimes.com, USAToday.com, iDnes.cz and Novinky.cz. The results are accomplished through the quantitative content analysis which is supplemented by the qualitative semiotic analysis. The semiotic analysis determins compositional and narrative structures and the language features in the articles. It is very important to be concerned about the scientific journalism, as science is important in people's lives and, furthermore, it is the public who helps to support scientific efforts financially. Thus, scientists should be concerned about and aware of science communication in media.
