Valideringens funktion inom barn- och ungdomspsykiatrin

Mellgren, Malin, Annica, Holmberg January 2017 (has links)
The aim of this study was to examine how therapists reflect about the importance of validation in their clinical work with children and adolescents at Barn- och Ungdomspsykiatrin (BUP). The study is qualitative and had a design with three focus group interviews with a total of thirteen respondents. The interview guide was half structured and every session lasted for two hours. The results show that all the respondents highlight the value of constant use of validation within their therapy sessions. They picture that validation is an important key to reach alliance with the patient. It is clear that the therapists use different validation strategies when they meet children compared with adults. The researchers make new findings that have not been found in previous science, empirics that do not match our theoretical basis. These findings contents how the respondents through play, a more explicit body language, more physical contact, an affirmative attitude and creative practice matches and adapts their validation strategies when they meet children in the therapy room. They describe a distinct difference in their way to validate children. Finally, the results show that validation reinforces the therapeutic relationship between and is a necessary factor to make the patient safe and able to participate in a process of treatment.

A longitudinal study of comorbidity between chronic pain and social anxiety – how comorbidity relates to the individuals’ experience of invalidation and of their level of function

Ejnefjäll, Mia, Jonsson, Jennie January 2014 (has links)
Comorbidity between pain and social anxiety in a sample of chronic pain patients was examined with cluster analysis. The purpose was to examine if there was a subgroup among pain patients that scored high on social anxiety and perceived invalidation before and after pain treatment. An additional purpose was to analyze if this subgroup scored differently on functioning compared to other pain patients and to explore movements between clusters over time. Data was based on self-report questionnaires from 157 pain patients. The results revealed an existing subgroup which scored high on social anxiety and perceived invalidation. The clusters with high social anxiety showed a lower level of functioning before and after pain treatment. These individuals tended to remain in the clusters scoring high on social anxiety over time

Föräldrars upplevelse av en återgivning efter en barnpsykologisk utredning / Parents’ experience of feedback after psychological assessment of children

Brendler-Lindqvist, Anna, Larsson, Tua January 2012 (has links)
Psychological assessment of children has become increasingly common. One important aspect of an assessment is the feedback, when the result is communicated to the parents. The aim of the present study is to investigate parents’ experience of assessment feedback, with focus on the relation to the assessor, validation, invalidation and emotions in relationship to the experience of having obtained a new understanding of the child. The study is a cross-sectional study including 33 participants. The results show that positive emotions and invalidation are the two best predictors as to what degree the parents experience that they have been given a new understanding of their child. The study design prevents any conclusions regarding the directions of relationships. The results indicates that when parents experience positive emotions, while not feeling invalidated during the assessment feedback, there are good prerequisites for the parents obtaining a new understanding of their child and that the assessment will be beneficial to the child.
