Text in German / This thesis deals primarily with the questions: Is Israel constantly chosen by God or have the devine promises gone over to the chuch? Are jews to be saved without the sacrifice of Christ? Should jews be missionised as gentiles alike? To give responses, the followings steps are worked out: At first an overview on the israelological models that have been opined during church- history is presented. Secondly church-documents are analyzed in spite of their missiological content. Thirdly an exegesis of Romans 9-11 is offered. Following this, those of the church-documents, whose israelology is closest to the witness of scripture, are presented. Finally a conclusion is offered, which states, that jews are constantly chosen, but not to be saved in another manner as gentiles. Therefore the church is continually obliged to bear the Gospel also to Israel. Moreover, angelology developed within this natural historical context. An exploration of the tradition of angelogy includes angelic origins, their functions in the Hebrew Bible and the Septuagint, possible mythical associations, and speculation about why angels surfaced within Israelite religion. Imah on the Bimah: Gender and the Roles of Latin American Conservative Congregational Rabinas

The aim of this research is to analyze the impact of gender on the work of Latin American rabinas within Conservative congregations in Latin America. The fact that women’s roles in Latin America and in Judaism have been traditionally linked to nurturing and caring serves as the point of departure for my hypothesis, which is that the role rabinas play within their congregations is also linked to those traits. In this research I utilize a social scientific approach and qualitative methodology, conducting personal interviews with the rabinas. While this work proves that Conservative congregations in Latin America are gendered, my research demonstrates that this gendered division of labor does not have a negative impact on the work of rabinas. On the contrary, by embracing attributes of womanhood and motherhood rabinas become imah (mother) on the bimah (pulpit), educating, caring, and nurturing their congregations in a special and unique way.

Text in German / It is the aim of this study to present the problems concerning the conversion of Jews with communist background to Christianity. This way useful advice shall be won for the missionary work among Jews who came from the former Sowjetunion. At first the social, cultural, religious and political background of the Jews before the immigration into Zsar-Russia until their emigration from the former Sowjetunion are researched. Then, in order to research the processes of conversion, 18 former Sowjetunion Jews who live in Israel were given interview-questionaries to get an idea from personal experiences and knowledge. To get a more objective picture of the conversion subject, testimonies of messianic Jews, statements of pastors, information letters and messianic literature were also consulted. In the last part of this study the mission-theological conclusion of the conversion subject is given and reflected for the missionary work among Jews stemming from the former Sowjetunion. / Christian Spirituality, Church History and Missiology / M. A partial hardening has come upon Israel: Divine hardening and its implications for Jewish evangelism

This dissertation explores the hardening mentioned in Romans 11:25 and its role in Israel's rejection of the gospel. Chapter 1 describes the difficulties faced when addressing the issue of hardening. Additionally, the thesis states that in the case with the Jewish people, the partial hardening has divine origins and serves a glorious purpose. Chapter 2 provides three arguments from Romans 9-11 explaining Israel's rejection of Jesus. These three arguments underline the belief that although vast numbers of Jewish people have rejected Jesus, God's word has not failed. The chapter concludes with the primary argument offered in that Israel's rejection is due to a partial hardening. Chapter 3 presents the argument that God is the primary cause of Israel's hardening. After exploring Scriptures where man seems responsible for his own hardening, the chapter argues that based on Romans 9-11, and especially the statement that God has mercy on whom he wills and he hardens whom he wills, the hardening Israel is experiencing has God rather than man as it cause. Chapter 4 explores the various reasons Paul gave in Romans 11 for the divine hardening. After refuting the idea that the hardening is a demonstration of God's rejection of Israel, that chapter examines three reasons why Israel is experiencing this hardening. Chapter 5 looks at Israel's future once the hardening is removed. The chapter focuses specifically on what the phrase "all Israel will be saved" means. Examined in this chapter are the three traditional interpretations regarding this statement. Strengthens and weaknesses are provided for each position. Chapter 6 discusses the implications for evangelism for SBC entities in light of this divine hardening. After examining the history of the SBC's efforts to evangelize the Jewish people, discussion surrounds future strategies for the SBC at the national, state and local levels. Chapter 7 provides a brief summary of the work and restates the thesis and major issues discussed within the context of the paper. O presente trabalho expõe, inicialmente, algumas definições sobre Judaísmo Ortodoxo, tipos de Judaísmo Ortodoxo, seus modelos educacionais e um breve histórico da comunidade judaica ortodoxa paulistana para subsidiar o estudo e a discussão sobre como a inclusão tecnológica e a interação virtual dos estudantes das suas instituições de ensino ocorrem nesse contexto. Procurouse demonstrar como os rabinos ortodoxos, temendo que as mudanças tecnológicas conduzam os integrantes de suas comunidades a abandonar práticas que asseguram a continuidade destas, estabelecem normas e interdições em relação ao uso de computadores e da Internet, dificultando a interação dos membros de sua comunidade com elementos externos aos de seus próprios ambientes presenciais. Considerando que atualmente a inclusão virtual é cada vez mais necessária para integrar os cidadãos na sociedade, o presente estudo aborda uma importante questão de forma pioneira ao expor o que a Internet representa para estes indivíduos, deixando transparecer a dificuldade dos rabinos ultra-ortodoxos em solucionar os impasses relacionados ao uso desta nos programas curriculares das disciplinas do Ensino Básico de suas instituições de ensino. Para o presente estudo, elaborado entre os anos de 2004 e 2007, foram utilizadas formulações teóricas disponíveis em artigos, revistas e livros sobre a comunidade judaica ortodoxa e foi realizada uma extensa pesquisa de campo em que foram entrevistadas autoridades rabínicas e líderes da comunidade em questão. Foram, também, analisadas informações obtidas por meio de questionários sobre o uso dos computares e da Internet respondidos pelos diretores de todas as instituições de ensino judaicas ortodoxas paulistanas reconhecidas pelo MEC e pelos seus estudantes de 1º e 2º ano do Ensino Médio. / The present doctorate thesis expounds, initially, some definitions about Orthodox Judaism, varieties of Orthodox Judaism, its educational models and a brief history of the orthodox Jewish community of São Paulo in order to assist the learning and discussion about how the technological inclusion and the virtual interactions of its schools students take place in this context. It was attempted to demonstrate how the orthodox rabbis establish rules and prohibitions concerning the use of computers and of the Internet, making the interaction between their communitys members and outsiders of their own physical environments more difficult because they fear that technological changes will drive their followers to abandon practices that ensure the continuity of their community. Considering that today the virtual enclosure is increasingly necessary to integrating the citizens into society, the treatise at hand approaches an important issue in a pioneer way expounding what the Internet represents to these individuals and implies the hardness faced by the ultraorthodox rabbis to solve the difficulties related to the use of the new technologies and of the Internet into the secular study programs in their schools. For the present tractate, elaborated between the years of 2004 and 2007, theoretical formulations available in articles, magazines, and other studies about the orthodox Jewish community were employed, as well as an extensive field research interviewing this community `s authorities and leaders was performed. Another source of the acquired and analyzed data are questionnaires regarding the use of computers and of the Internet, responded by the principals of all Jewish orthodox schools in the city of São Paulo accredited by the Brazilian Ministry of Education and Culture and by their students of the 10th and 11th grades (High School).

This diploma thesis outlines the view of women's life in traditional Judaism on the territory of the capital city of Prague. The work is not only focused on Jewish history from the First Republic to the present, the development of the social coexistence of Czechs and Jews over the last two centuries, but also on the preserved traditions and contemporary practices of Jewish women. The aim of my work is to clarify the traditions and customs that have been observed and changed in Prague and have evolved over time, under the influence of the surrounding world or migration. All this, with the emphasis on the fact that even though the life of pious Jewish women is full of statutes and provisions, these women are still given great respect, family, religion, culture, or society. Many years of thought and attitudes have persisted in the Jewish population in the form of dogmatism. On the part of the Czech population, motivated religious, social and even superstitious prejudices persisted. An unobtrusive observer may seem from the outside view that the lives of women in traditional Judaism or the practices of women in Prague since the First Republic are stable and unchanging. La thèse a pour objet d’étudier le phénomène de création festive qui traverse les communautés juives de l’Antiquité à partir du VIe siècle av. J.-C. Ces fêtes nouvelles, de par leur typologie, leur théologie, leurs rites et leurs fonctions, s’écartent du modèle biblique tout en le revendiquant. Leur multiplication à l’époque hellénistique, sensible à travers leur mention dans la littérature juive hellénisée, témoigne d’évolutions qui, même si elles peuvent procéder d’une dynamique interne au judaïsme, témoignent d’interactions avec les communautés religieuses du monde grec puis romain. D’essence essentiellement locale, elles constituent un critère de définition identitaire et sont instrumentalisées pour servir des intérêts variés, notamment en termes de légitimation de l’autorité. Leur caractère récent leur confère une souplesse qui permet une actualisation constante de leur signification au gré des conjonctures, que ce soit à l’échelle locale ou au sein de courants transversaux comme le judaïsme rabbinique. Elles fonctionnent donc comme un révélateur du degré d’intégration ou d’exclusion des communautés juives dans leur environnement politique, social, culturel et religieux. / This dissertation aims at studying festive creativity within ancient Jewish communities from the VIth century B.C. onwards. From a typological, a theological, a liturgical and a functional viewpoint, these new festivals divert from Biblical tradition even though they claim not to. Their increase during the Hellenistic period, a phenomenon made clear in Jewish Literature written in Greek, attest to an evolution which, even though it could, in some cases, proceed from an inherently Jewish dynamic, fall within the category of cultural and religious interactions with other religious communities from the Greek and Roman world. Of an essentially local provenance, they are instrumental to a community’ self-definition and are often used to legitimate their founder or their organizer’s authority. Since they only appeared recently, their meaning can be updated to reflect various situations, either regarding a specific place and time or within such movements as Rabbinic Judaism. New festivals bring light to the place of a Jewish community within its milieu, be it political, social, cultural or religious.
