Denna uppsats handlar om hur två länsmuseer samarbetar med äldrevården. Anledningen till att jag valde detta ämne var att jag upplever att äldre personer och äldreboenden sällan diskuteras i litteraturen och undervisningen. Syftet med uppsatsen har varit att undersöka hur samarbetet mellan äldrevården och respektive museum ser ut samt att på ett mer teoretiskt plan undersöka vilka minnen som stimuleras och hur man kan koppla teman och föremål till Performance theory. Mina frågeställningar överensstämmer med syftet, de handlar alltså om hur samarbetet ser ut, vilka minnen museerna vill stimulera och hur man kan koppla teman och föremål till performance theory. Mina teoretiska utgångspunkter har således varit performance theory, teorier om personligt och kollektivt minne samt reminiscensmetoden. Jag har använt mig av en kvalitativ metod för att kunna svara på mina frågor. Mina två fallstudier har varit Norrbottens museum och Jamtli- Länsmuseum i Jämtlands län. Jag har genomfört intervjuer samt tagit del av statistik och utvärderingar från respektive museum som jag sedan sammanställt. Det jag sett i min studie är att Norrbottens museum arbetar med en uppsökande verksamhet där man hyr ut färdiga minnesväskor till äldreboenden i Norrbottens län. Man når många av länets invånare som man annars inte skulle nå. Jamtli arbetar på museiområdet i nära samarbete med vård- och omsorgsförvaltningen. Man arbetar med ett mindre antal personer men man arbetar individualiserat och under upprepade tillfällen. De minnen som museerna vill stimulera anser jag till största del är kollektiva minnen, även om man i Jamtlis fall arbetar utifrån de äldres livsberättelser. De teman och föremål man använder i reminiscensarbetet går att koppla till performance theory i fråga om begreppen restored behaviour och ritual. Denna uppsats belyser således två museers sätt att samarbeta med äldrevården. Deras arbetssätt skiljer sig åt från varandra men innehåller också likheter.

Detta arbete är en studie av konstpedagogikens funktion på svenska länsmuseer. Bakgrunden till frågeställningen är dels min egen erfarenhet och nyfikenhet kring konstpedagogikens verksamheter, samt vetskapen om att konstpedagogiken i Sverige är ett relativt outforskat område. Syftet med denna studie har varit att undersöka konstpedagogiken med fokus på dess vidare begrepp, och på så sätt därigenom spegla dess kulturella kontexter, och anställdas attityder på länsmuseerna. Undersökningens huvudsakliga material är insamlat genom intervjuer med anställda på länsmuseer, samt från platsobservationer. Intervjuer och platsobservationer har gjorts på Stockholms, Örebro, samt Jönköpings läns museum. Resultatet belyser konstpedagogikens funktion på länsmuseerna i förhållande till länet, utställningsrummen, publiken och anställda. Resultatet pekar på många likheter i konstpedagogikens funktioner på länsmuseerna, men också på många olikheter. Vad som förorsakar dessa likheter och olikheter har däremot inte kunnat fastställas i denna studie. Emellertid har synliggörandet gett upphov till nya funderingar och uppslag för vidare studier kring konstpedagogiken och dess utformning. / BI

This study examines the use of Instagram by the Swedish County Museums through the perspective of museum professionals in charge of the museums’ Instagram accounts. The purpose of the study is to find out how and why the Swedish County Museums use Instagram. The primary source material of this paper is a survey sent out to 23 County Museums in Sweden. 19 of these museums answered the survey, equaling a response rate of 83 percent. Through comparisons and content analysis, aspects of the county museums’ Instagram use are examined.  Results of the study show that the county museums see many purposes with using Instagram, for example marketing, information and making the knowledge and collections of the museum accessible. Interaction and dialogue with visitors are also important uses for most of the museums, but the study shows that this might be secondary to marketing, informing, and making knowledge and collections accessible. Results of the study also show that the way in which the county museums operate in their work with Instagram differs between the museums, with some museums having only one employee working with the Instagram account while other museums have several employees working and collaborating with the museums Instagram account. When it comes to the employees being in charge of the museums Instagram account, the study shows that a majority of these have a work title that relates to communication. The study also shows that many of these employees have similar work and academic backgrounds in for example culture, art, media and communications. This is a two years master’s thesis in Museum and Cultural Heritage Studies.

How do museums work with plurality in their organizations and in the production of exhibitions and other activities? This paper examines how civic museums, provincial museums and state museums work with plurality from a perspective of culture policies, particularly in relation to the government bill Tid för kultur, issued by the Swedish government in 2009. All together I examine 25 museums and their efforts to include marginalized groups in their activities and exhibitions. To do so I have studied four possible measures that are available for the museums. This includes the following: projects that pay attention to a marginalized group or their living conditions; projects that are specifically created for a marginalized group; projects that include a marginalized group in the museums preparations; and projects were museums give full responsibility to a marginalized group. I have also examined how plurality have been presented – as isolated cultures and cultural expressions or as hybrids and interchangeable phenomenons – and to what extent the museums are ready to involve marginalized groups in their physical environment and in their exhibition and activity programs. Based on three different levels of conduct I evaluate how far the museums have reached and what differences there are between civic museums, provincial museums and state museums. My research shows that Swedish museums in general are on their way to work successfully with plurality and establish a plurality perspective in the whole organization. The research also shows that there are differences between civic museums, provincial museums and state museums. In general, state museums are better to include marginalized groups in their productions and to firmly establish a perspective of plurality in their organization. On the contrary, the research shows that many museums lack certain features in their efforts to work towards a marginalized group. One of those features is the ability to make these efforts part of the museums permanent activities. Civic museums and provincial museums also have a greater freedom of strengthen their regional identity than compared to the state museums ability to strengthen the national identity. A circumstance that can have consequences for culture policies in Sweden and the future of plurality efforts at the museums.
