Modulayer-Berea Park Learner's Resource CentreStrydom, Cornus 20 November 2003 (has links)
The designed building is a proposed Learner's Resource Centre situated in Berea Park. The development will be funded by the European Union and managed by a section 21 company of tertiary institutions and government departments. It creates a community facility that is needed in the Pretoria inner city, addressing lack of study space and urban parks in the CBD. The main building includes a digital library, offices, auditorium, conferencing facilities and a restaurant. This building forms the focus of the investigation, while the rest of the campus development forms part of an Urban Design scheme proposed for the Pretoria inner city. The functions included on the campus are overnight facilities, workshops, classrooms and a multi purpose hall. The thesis is introduced by an investigation into the theory of the meaning in architecture. Factors influencing a decline of learners enrolment in commercial subject : a case of Driekop Circuit in Limpopo ProvinceMathiba, Thema Adolph January 2021 (has links)
Thesis (M. Ed.) -- University of Limpopo, 2021 / This study reports on factors influencing a decline of learner’s enrolment in commercial
subjects: a case of Driekop circuit in Limpopo province. The study followed a qualitative
research methodology underpinned by a case study design. The uncertainty reduction
theory by Berger and Calabre (1983) guided the study. The aim of the study was to
investigate the factors influencing learner enrolment in commercial subjects in Driekop
Circuit and the sample of participants was comprised of eight teachers and twenty
leaners from four secondary schools. Data were collected through interviews and
document analysis.
The finding of the study revealed a number of factors influencing learners enrolment in
commercial subjects which includes; i). leaners’ ability in the subject, ii) peer pressure,
iii) the influence of teachers and school managers, and iv) learners’ misconceptions
about commercial subjects. The study makes a number of recommendations: Firstly,
leaners should be advised, guided and supported in their decision making. Secondly,
aptitude and interest tests should be taken, and thirdly appropriate interventions from
professionals should be sought by schools.

DEd (Educational Management) / Department of Educational Management / Performance of learners in Chemistry in South Africa has been below the international
average. This study intended to investigate the management of high school learners’
academic performance in Chemistry as a component of Physical Science. The study
employed mixed designs which are qualitative and quantitative. The population of this
study comprised learners who were doing Physical Science, Physical Science teachers
and school principals. The principals as participants were purposively sampled whereas
teachers and learners were stratified random sampled. Data were collected through
questionnaires which were distributed to learners and teachers, while school principals
were orally interviewed. Data obtained from questionnaires were analysed using SPSS
software. Qualitative data were analysed through identification of themes, development
of codes and sub-themes. The improvement of teaching and learning will have a
positive impact on the academic performance of high school learners in Chemistry. The
findings showed that there are factors which affect the management of high school
learners like (school location, inadequate physical resources, attitude and anxiety)
contribute to the performance of learners in Chemistry. The findings also showed that
factors influencing the academic performance of learners in Chemistry like (effective
teaching, In-service Training of Chemistry teachers and Chemistry syllabus and
content) contribute to the performance of learners in Chemistry. This study will give new
insight to curriculum developers and implementers, and researchers regarding
emerging issues on performance and influence the Ministry of Basic Education on policy
formulation. Improved Chemistry performance will give learners opportunities to pursue
science related courses in higher institutions of learning and middle level colleges.

Acknowledging the various benefits that can be reaped from good quality education in schools, the primary aim of this study was to explore and investigate the effect of the BETD Graduates on the quality of education in primary schools, in Kunene region.
Seventeen primary school principals took part in the study. They completed a questionnaire and the data was analysed using a qualitative method. Four main categories were investigated: (i) socio-demographic information (ii) the implementation of the BETD skills (iii) job performance and (iv) organizational effectiveness.
This study suggests that there is a strong relationship between the type and quality of teacher education and its effect on the achievement and performances of learners in particular and the school in general. Therefore the quality of education in schools can be determined by the quality of the teachers on the ground. / Educational Studies / M. Ed. (Education Management)

This research was conducted to confirm and identify possible and intrinsic factors which may
influence the academic achievement of senior secondary pupils in the rural Eastem Cape. The
literature study indicates that factors such as parental involvement, motivation, the role of
teachers and peers as well as learners' attribution of meaning, involvement, and experience
have a direct influence on academic achievement.
To confmn the influence of the above factors, the researcher conducted a structured interview with
ten respondents, consisting of four pupils, their parents and two teachers. Questions to parents
investigated their relationship with theii·children in terms of discipline, motivation as well as
involvement in their education. Questions to pupils investigated their relationship with their
parents, teachers, peers and self. Learners' level of self-actualization in terms of
attribution of meaning, involvement, experience and self-concept was also examined.
The research revealed that most of the parents are not adequately involved in their children s
education, and the fmdings confirmed this as an extrinsic factor that
influenced the learners achievement. The findings also indicated that teachers have somewhat
lost sight of their role in promoting learners' potential, contributing to the high failure rate in
the Eastern Cape rural schools. The fmdings further confirmed that the learners level of self
actualization, in terms of attribution of meaning, involvement and experience influences academic
achievement.
Based on the findings, recommendations were made to improve the situation of education in the
