Este trabalho está inserido no rol de estudos que procuraram analisar as relações entre a obra de Sérgio Buarque de Holanda e as literaturas estrangeiras. O objetivo é apresentar uma reflexão sobre a presença francesa nos seus textos de crítica literária publicados de 1920 a 1930, período em que o crítico estabelece intenso diálogo com elementos culturais, literários e críticos franceses. As conclusões apontam para o retrato de um intelectual inserido no grupo radical do Modernismo em sua fase heroica, que compartilhava as inquietudes de sua geração a respeito da nacionalidade e da cultura de seu país e, ao mesmo tempo, aberto ao diálogo entre diversas literaturas e a França desempenha papel de relevo em suas considerações. / This thesis is part of the scholarly literature that aims at analyzing the relationship between Sergio Buarque de Holandas oeuvre and foreign literatures. The goal is to present a discussion on the presence of French literature in his texts on literary criticism published between 1920 and 1930, a period in which the author established an intense dialogue with French cultural, literary and scholarly elements. The conclusion presents a portrait of the scholar as part of the radical Modernist group in its so-called heroic stage, immersed in the disquietude typical of his generation toward his own nationality and national culture but, at the same time, open to dialogue with the various literatures of the world, among which the French one plays an important role in his considerations.

CoordenaÃÃo de AperfeiÃoamento de Pessoal de NÃvel Superior / A Pintura e a Literatura, apesar de consistirem em atividades distintas, interagem entre si e se comunicam dentro de um campo abrangente, denominado Arte. O presente estudo pretende uma aproximaÃÃo, um diÃlogo, estabelecido entre poesia e pintura. Propomos uma abordagem comparativa entre algumas peÃas da obra do pintor catalÃo Joan Mirà (1893-1983), e os poemas presentes no livro A pedra do sono (1942) do poeta pernambucano JoÃo Cabral de Melo Neto (1920-1999), tendo como pano de fundo a estÃtica surrealista, postulada por Andrà Breton, em 1924, na FranÃa. Teremos como base teÃrica fundamental o pensamento de JoÃo Cabral de Melo Neto, exposto em um ensaio crÃtico, no ano de 1949, intitulado âJoan MirÃâ. O conhecido âpoeta engenheiroâ possuÃa forte afinidade com a Teoria LiterÃria, escrevendo alguns textos de crÃtica de arte e literatura. Neles discorre acerca do processo de composiÃÃo artÃstica, correntes estÃticas, movimentos literÃrios, personalidades brasileiras e estrangeiras. Para viabilizar a anÃlise, recorremos aos teÃricos de Literatura Comparada, como: TÃnia Carvalhal, Sandra Nitrini, Julia Kristeva e Mikhail Bakhtin; bem como, aos crÃticos de Arte: Fayga Ostrower, Omar Calabrese, Paul ValÃry, dentre outros, que possibilitaram uma compreensÃo acerca de movimentos artÃsticos, correntes estÃticas e tÃcnicas peculiares de criaÃÃo e composiÃÃo. Iniciamos com uma reflexÃo acerca da Arte e do fazer artÃstico; em seguida, foi enfocado o perfil artÃstico de JoÃo Cabral de Melo Neto e sua face teÃrico-crÃtica, tendo por base o estudo relativo à obra de Joan MirÃ. A Ãltima etapa contempla uma anÃlise do ensaio de JoÃo Cabral acerca da pintura de MirÃ, concernente à construÃÃo de sua obra. O diÃlogo à viabilizado no tocante à evidÃncia de temas recorrentes, bem como pelo processo de composiÃÃo com vÃrios pontos de aproximaÃÃo entre os dois artistas. / Painting and Literature, although they consist of different activities, interact and communicate to each other into a large field, denominated Art. This study aims to approximate, like a dialogue, between Poetry and Painting. We propose a comparative approach between some parts of the Spanish painter Joan MirÃâs (1893-1983) work and some poems of A pedra do sono (1942), by JoÃo Cabral de Melo Neto (1920-1999), a Brazilian poet from Pernambuco. This study will have as a backdrop the Surrealist aesthetic, postulated by Andrà Breton, in 1924, in France. We will have as a fundamental theoretical basis JoÃo Cabral de Melo Netoâs thought, exhibited in a critical essay, in 1949, entitled âJoan MirÃâ. The famous âengineer poetâ had a strong relation with the Literary Theory, and he wrote some critic texts of Art and Literature, in which the author discusses about the artistic composition process, kinds of aesthetic, literary movements, Brazilian and foreign personalities. To enable this analyses, we used the Comparative Literature Theoretical, like: TÃnia Carvalhal, Sandra Nitrini, Julia Kristeva e Mikhail Bakhtin; and the Art critics: Fayga Ostrower, Omar Calabrese, Paul ValÃry, among other, who have allowed a comprehension about artistic movements, kinds of aesthetic and creationâs and compositionâs peculiar techniques. We will begin thinking about Art and artistic making; then, JoÃo Cabral de Melo Netoâs artistic profile will be focused, as his theoretical/critical face, based on his Joan Mirà study. The last step includes an analysis of the JoÃo Cabralâs essay about MirÃâs paintings, concerned to his own work. The dialogue is made possible with regard to the evidence of recurrent themes, as well as the composition process with a lot of approximated points between those artists.

A tese discute formas de recrutamento e atuação conjunta na cena política e intelectual brasileira de um grupo de profissional liberais e universitários chamado Centro Dom Vital, situado no Rio de Janeiro mas com ramificações em várias cidades, com destaque para o Nordeste e Minas Gerais. O estudo tem como seu marco inicial o ano de 1922, no qual ocorreu a fundação do Centro e o lançamento do primeiro livro de uma de suas figuras-chave: Alceu Amoroso Lima. O marco final é 1948, data em que ocorre a última de uma série de alterações que esvaziam a atuação do grupo: a morte de seu primeiro diretor espiritual, Pe. Leonel Franca. Durante este quartel de século, os vitalistas (isto é, os frequentadores do Centro) publicaram dezenas de livros, editaram uma revista mensal (A Ordem) e tiveram um papel fundamental na configuração das políticas públicas ligadas à educação e ao trabalho. A estrutura da tese consiste em um primeiro capítulo sobre as relações entre política e cultura durante o regime Vargas, seguido de uma apresentação da morfologia do grupo. Os quatro últimos capítulos apresentam o conjunto de livros e ações a partir de quatro temáticas: 1) a crítica literária; 2) a educação e as relações entre ciência e fé; 3) as hagiografias contemporâneas, isto é, biografias que servem de fonte para a formação de um panteão moral e 4) a política partidária. / This thesis discusses the ways of recruiting and acting together in the Brazilian political and intellectual scene of a group of Law Students and liberal professionals called Centro D. Vital, located in the city of Rio de Janeiro but with branches in many other cities, namely in the North East of Brazil and in the State of Minas Gerais. The chronological boundaries of this study are the years of 1922 when the Centre was founded and one of its key figures, Alceu Amoroso Lima, published his first book and 1948, with the decease of Father Leonel Franca, SJ, the spiritual leader. His absence changed the identity of the group, but was only the last event in a chain of milestones that undermine its importance. In the quarter of a century between these two dates, the vitalistas (i. e., those who shared the ideas and values widespread by the Centre) published dozens of books, issued a monthly review (A Ordem) and had a pivotal role in some educational and working class policies. The structure of the thesis consists in a first chapter on the relationship between politics and culture in Getúlio Vargas regime (1930-1945), followed by the presentation of the morphology of the group. The last four chapters present the ensemble of books and actins written by them, divided by the themes: 1) literary critics; 2) the education and the relationship between science and faith; 3) contemporary hagiographies, i.e, biographies that work as sources for the making of a pantheon of models; 4) politics.

Esta dissertação tem como objetivo examinar a obra do crítico Raymond Williams a partir do ponto de vista da crítica da modernidade levada a cabo pelo autor em um período específico de sua trajetória: entre Cultura e sociedade (1958) e O campo e a cidade (1973). Para tanto, parte-se da reconstrução da forma assumida por essa crítica nos esquemas interpretativos daquelas que foram as duas grandes influências formativas do pensamento de Williams, e que figuraram como as duas grandes correntes teóricas no cenário intelectual inglês do século XX: a crítica literária e o marxismo. Pretende-se oferecer, com isso, uma leitura alternativa da obra do autor, repensando o peso de cada um de seus principais textos, as linhas de continuidade e as rupturas atravessando-a e, por fim, o próprio sentido do desenvolvimento teórico percorrido por Williams no período considerado, notadamente, destacando-se o impacto que o marxismo exerceu na conformação do seu projeto teórico. / This dissertation aims to analyze Raymond Williams work from the point of view of the critique of modernity undertaken by him in a specific period of his trajectory: from Culture and Society (1958) to The Country and the City (1973). Therefore, we begin by reconstructing the forms assumed by this critique in the interpretative schemes of the two greatest formative influences in Williams thought, and which became the two greatest theoretical currents in the English intellectual scenario in the 20th century: literary criticism and Marxism. Hence, we plan to offer an alternative interpretation of his oeuvre, reconsidering the importance of each of his main texts, the continuities and ruptures crossing it and, finally, the sense of the theoretical development covered by Williams in the period here considered, notably, focusing the impact that Marxism produced in the shaping of his theoretical project.

O objetivo deste é trabalho é refletir sobre os modos de leitura da prosa contemporânea, a partir do romance Budapeste, de Chico Buarque. Investigaram-se os fatores que permeiam as discussões sobre a publicação da obra, em 2003, ressaltando a crítica jornalística que, por ocasião do lançamento do livro, apontou, por inúmeras vezes, o valor literário do texto de Chico Buarque, assim como do artista, e as leituras que se deram na universidade, espaço de criação e de difusão de diversos estudos, dissertações de mestrado e teses de doutorado, produzidos, na última década, sobre o romance. Desta forma, propõe-se uma análise da repercussão do romance Budapeste no cenário literário contemporâneo, a partir das críticas jornalísticas e dos trabalhos acadêmicos produções que se voltaram à divulgação ou à investigação do romance. A presente dissertação não se baseia na análise da história da crítica literária, antes, tece uma apresentação da produção crítica no Brasil, destacando a sua importância, como forma de contextualizar as discussões apresentadas / The objective of this work is to reflect on ways of reading of contemporary prose, exemplified, in this dissertation, by the novel Budapest, by Chico Buarque, from the perspective of criticism and academia. The factors involved in the discussions about the publication of the work in 2003 were investigated, emphasizing journalistic criticism that, at the launch of the book, inumerously pointed out the literary value of the text of Chico Buarque, as well as the artist and publications that proliferated at universities, which are spaces of creation and dissemination of various studies, dissertations and doctoral theses produced in the last decade about the novel. Thus, an analysis of the impact of the novel Budapest in the contemporary literary scene is proposed, using journalistic criticism and scholarly work productions that have aimed at the disclosure or the investigation of the novel. This work is not based on the analysis of the history of literary criticism, but rather weaves a presentation of the critical production in Brazil, highlighting its importance as a way to contextualize the discussions presented

O presente trabalho tem como objetivo apresentar a estreia de Ivan S. Turguêniev como prosador de dois modos: com a tradução da primeira novela escrita por ele Andrei Kólossov e um texto de análise da novela para demonstrar o vanguardismo do escritor com a incorporação da perspectiva crítica na sua composição; o uso de elementos literários defendidos pela crítica moderna russa; e a composição de uma forma literária que refletisse a situação histórica da sociedade russa. Nessa abordagem a torna-se indispensável tratar sobre a infuência que o prosador estreante recebeu de Vissariônn G. Belínsiia que desenvolvia os primórdios da crítica realista e defendia o realismo como expressão literária e meio de modernizar a sociedade russa. A inclusão da tradução de sua última resenha anual Uma visão da literatura russa no ano de 1847 possibilita mostrar ao público a prática de sua crítica bem como dá a oportunidade de conhecer a apreciação que o crítico fez da produção literária de Turguêniev existente até então. / This woori intends to present the debut of Ivan S. Este trabalho de interpretação de \"O Recado do Morro\" trata da forma mesclada do conto com outras modalidades de narrativa, provindas da tradição oral, em consonância com o processo histórico-social que rege a realidade também misturada do sertão rosiano, múltiplo e labiríntico, fonte e origem do mito e da poesia. O estudo descreve e tenta apreender assim a mistura peculiar que define a singularidade do conto, intrinsecamente relacionada ao mundo misturado que tanto encanta quanto desconcerta. Na reconstrução da mistura como um todo orgânico, em que o conto parece renascer do interior da poesia do mais fundo do sertão brasileiro, se busca tornar inteligível um verdadeiro processo de esclarecimento, que culmina com o reconhecimento de sua própria identidade relacionado à terra natal à qual o herói retorna, de modo triunfal. / This interpretative work on \"O Recado do Morro\" discusses the mixture of this short story with other narratives modes, based on oral tradition, consistent with the socio-historical process orienting the also-mixed reality of Guimarães Rosa\'s backlands, plural and labyrinthine, where myth and poetry come from. This study reports and seeks to comprehend the peculiar mixture that defines the narrative\'s uniqueness which is intrinsically related to the hybrid style that amazes and disconcerts the reader. In reconstructing this mixture as an organic whole, where the short story seems to be reborn from the poetry of the deepest backlands of Brazil, this reading seeks to make intelligible a veritable process of the illumination, whose climax is the recognition of himself: a identity of the hero.
