As narrativas analisadas são: De piolho a garrote (1984); A marca de uma lágrima (1986); O fantástico mistério de Feiurinha (1986); Na colméia do inferno (1991), De punhos cerrados (2005) e Garrote, menino coragem (2009). Estas três últimas narrativas correspondem à reescrita do título de 1984. A análise descritiva destes quatro títulos que correspondem sempre a uma mesma história possibilitou a discussão das diferenças e semelhanças entre as quatro versões e permitiu levantar algumas das razões pelas quais nenhum deles obteve o sucesso de mercado e a crítica favorável alcançados pelos dois títulos lançados em 1986, apesar dos esforços do escritor para que isso ocorresse, reescrevendo continuamente a história original. A análise das narrativas foi realizada com base em conceitos de teóricos da literatura como: Gerard Genette, Claude Brémond, Algirdas Julien Greimas, Vladimir Iakovlevich Propp, Tzvetan Todorov, dentre outros / Abstract: The present study was categorized in two volumes which analyze six juvenile narratives of Pedro Bandeira (1942), organize a complete bibliography from Pedro Bandeira's work from 1976 to 2010, and group a pull of 50 interviews granted by this author during that same period of time. The scrutinized narratives were: De piolho a garrote (1984), A marca de uma lágrima (1986), O fantástico mistério de Feiurinha (1986), Na colméia do inferno (1991), De punhos cerrados (2005), and Garrote, menino coragem (2009). These last three narratives are a rewriting of the title from 1984. The descriptive analysis of these four titles, which always keep up a correspondence to the same story, enabled a discussion between differences and similarities among the four versions, and allowed to raise a few reasons why none of them achieved the market success or the favorable critique accomplished by the two titles released in 1986, despite the writer's effort for that to happen by rewriting the original story repeatedly. Orientador: Luiz Roberto Velloso Cairo / Banca: Marcos Antonio de Moraes / Banca: Aluizia Hanisch / Resumo: Não passa despercebido ao leitor das obras Amar, verbo intransitivo (1927) de Mário de Andrade, e Senhorita Else (Fräulein Else) (1924) de Arthur Schnitzler, que tanto Elza, protagonista da primeira, quanto Else, da segunda, ambas germânicas, representam uma mesma crise de identidade. Seja na sociedade austríaca ou na brasileira, ao final da leitura fica claro ao leitor que liberadas dos papéis e identificações que a sociedade lhes impôs, as protagonistas se revelam como mulheres que procuram alternativas para suas vidas, num processo de reformulação constante. As razões e justificativas que norteiam a elaboração desta pesquisa partem, de um lado, da constatação de semelhanças entre as protagonistas das duas obras, particularmente o fato das duas serem representantes femininos da sociedade de língua e cultura germânica da época, e de outro lado da justificativa para as maneiras distintas de como estas "estórias" são realizadas literariamente. A literatura comparada, ultrapassando os limites impostos pela simples identificação de fontes e influências, ocupa-se na contemporaneidade com a questão da compreensão e elucidação do texto literário através da justaposição de obras de um mesmo autor ou de obras de autores diferentes. Desta forma, o objetivo final deste trabalho não é a procura de "influências", mas sim o esclarecimento de uma obra como resultado de sua aproximação à outra, neste caso, tanto do monólogo interior de Schnitzler ao idílio de Mário de Andrade quanto vice-versa / Abstract: It is noticeable to the reader of Arthur Schnitzler's Fräulein Else (1924) and Mário de Andrade's Amar, verbo intransitivo (1927) that the principal characters in both works are representative of a similar identity crisis. If it happens in the Austrian or Brazilian society of the time makes no difference to the fact that at the end of the works the reader can clearly grasp that the two women have chosen alternative paths to their lives, liberating themselves from the constraints that their background imposed on them. The reasons and justifications that served as basis for this research are the facts that although the main characters of both works are feminine representatives of the German society and culture of the time and are faced with similar problems, their tales are told, literarily speaking, in completely different ways, for some reason. In keeping with the contemporary understanding of comparative literature, the final intention of the present work is not the search of "influences" as such, but to achieve a better understanding of a literary work by juxtaposing it to another, in this case Schnitzler's interior monologue to Mário de Andrade's idyll / Mestre

Orientador: João Luís Cardoso Tápias Ceccantini / Banca: Rony Farto Pereira / Banca: José Batista de Sales / Resumo: O presente trabalho tem por objetivo central o levantamento sistemático das obras escritas pela escritora Ruth Rocha (1931), bem como da produção crítica produzida sobre sua obra (em livros, teses, dissertações, artigos científicos, artigos de divulgação publicados em jornais e revistas). Além disso, é realizada uma reflexão introdutória sobre as principais tendências observadas no conjunto dessa produção crítica. Motivou a realização do trabalho o fato de a autora destacar-se significativamente em meio aos escritores que compõem a "geração de 70" da literatura infanto-juvenil brasileira, num momento em que esta passa por profundas transformações, incorporando-se definitivamente à indústria cultural e contando com o mecenatismo do Estado, comprador e distribuidor de grandes tiragens de obras infantojuvenis para escolas e bibliotecas de todo o Brasil. Num primeiro momento da dissertação, é apresentada uma rápida visão geral dos caminhos trilhados pelo gênero infanto-juvenil, enfatizando a questão do utilitarismo e do mercado. Em seguida, são organizados dados sobre a vida da autora, coletados em diversas fontes (entre elas, muitas entrevistas), no intuito de constituir um apanhado biográfico geral sobre Ruth Rocha. No capítulo subseqüente, procurase levantar "o estado da questão" referente à produção crítica sobre a obra da escritora, com base em dados extraídos da crítica profissional e da imprensa não especializada. Finalmente, é feito um amplo levantamento dos títulos literários publicados pela escritora. / Abstract: The present work has for central objective the systematic rising of the works written by writer Ruth Rocha (1931), as well as of the critical production produced on your work (in books, theses, dissertations, scientific goods, popularization goods published in newspapers and magazines). besides, an introductory reflection is accomplished on the main tendencies observed in the group of that critical production. It motivated the accomplishment of the work the author's fact he/she to stand out significantly amid the writers that compose the generation of 70 " of the Brazilian infantile-juvenile literature, in one moment in that this raisin for deep transformations, incorporating definitively to the cultural industry and counting with the sponsor of the State, buyer and distributor of great circulations of infantile-juvenile works for schools and libraries of the whole Brazil. In a first moment of the dissertation, a fast general vision of the roads is presented thrashed by the infantile-juvenile gender, emphasizing the subject of the utilitarian and of the market. Soon after, they are organized data about the author's life, collected in several sources (among them, many interviews), in the intention of constituting has been hit biographical general on Ruth Rocha. In the subsequent chapter, he/she tries to get up " the state of the subject " regarding the critical production on the writer's work, with base in extracted data of the professional critic and of the press non specialized. (1915-1934), que foram veiculados de 1916 a 1922, com ênfase na série de capítulos da sátira Os Bruzundangas; e a investigação do hebdomadário visando ao esboço de um perfil para a publicação. A análise dos textos foi feita em seu conjunto, o que, até hoje, a fortuna crítica do autor não havia realizado, tentando notar possíveis condicionamentos do veículo sobre sua produção. A dissertação contém, em anexo, texto de Lima Barreto inédito em livro, cotejo crítico dos capítulos d'Os Bruzundangas publicados no A.B.C., indexação do semanário no período de publicação da sátira e ilustrações. Com tudo isso, o estudo pretende contribuir para uma maior compreensão da obra de Lima Barreto e auxiliar futuros pesquisadores do autor e do tema em questão / Abstract: This dissertation intends to gather, index and analyze texts published by author Afonso Henriques de Lima Barreto (1881-1922) on the periodical A. B. C. (1915-1934) between 1916 and 1922, with emphasis the series of chapters of the satire Os Bruzundangas; we also investigate the weekly publication in order to paint an accurate picture of it. The analysis of these texts in as a whole has not been done until now, and was made with the intention of possibly noting the influence of the medium on its production. Annexed to the dissertation we have Lima Barreto's writings that were not yet edited, a critical comparison between the chapters of Os Bruzundangas published in A.B.C. and an index of the periodical during the production of satires and illustrations. Neste sentido, acreditamos na possibilidade de o autor ser visto como integrante da galeria dos nossos pensadores sociais, pois nossa hipótese é que em seu gênero literário infantil ressoa uma visão de país, um diagnóstico e um projeto de futuro para o Brasil. Desta forma, colocamos em discussão a possibilidade de tomar esta literatura como um elemento de compreensão da realidade social brasileira a partir da qual foi composta (nos anos 20 e 30 do século passado). Assim, pretendemos ver na obra de Lobato uma crítica à sociedade em que vivia, enquanto escritor que além de estar preocupado com as questões estéticas e lingüísticas do seu tempo, sempre esteve atento também em formular críticas à nossa "parasitia intelectual", aos intelectuais e a elite que, segundo ele, assistia de braços cruzados aos diversos problemas de ordem social política e econômica, sem propor alternativas de mudanças. / Abstract: This research aims to discern what would be the "project" of nation - we understand nation as a social political project - in the work dedicated to Monteiro Lobato's young public ( 1882- 1948 ), also known as a pedagogic literature. Therein, we believe in the possibility of the author be seen as a member of our social thinkers group, since our hypothesis is that in his juvenile literary gender there is a country vision, a diagnostic and a future project to Brazil. Therefore, we take in discussing the possibility of considering this literature as an element to understand the Brazilian social reality that was constituted in the twenties and thirties years of the last century. We intend to see in Monteiro Lobato's work, one critic of the society that he lived, like a writer that besides being worried about the esthetics and linguistics questions of his time was also always ready to formulate critics, to the intellectuals and to the elite that, according to him, were just observing the social, economical and political problems without proposing any changing alternatives. / Mestre

Partimos do pressuposto que estes perfis são construídos baseados na relação conflituosa e fértil dos textos de Saramago com a Bíblia, com as tradições e dogmas religiosos, fundamentados também no tenso diálogo entre Literatura e Teologia, uma constante em suas obras. Nesse estudo procuraremos responder às seguintes perguntas: De que maneira o tema Deus estrutura e incita sua obra literária? Sob que aspecto esse tema é um elemento integrador em seus livros transformando-se num pretexto fértil para sua criação literária? Qual a forma como esse tema é tratado em seus romances que formam o corpus central do nosso trabalho? Qual a sedução que esse tema exerce sobre o romancista? Qual o discurso literário sobre Deus em sua obra? Até que ponto a estrutura literária das obras do autor está impregnada pelo Deus do cristianismo? / Abstract: This research has as its central purpose the effectuation of an analysis of the God thematic in José Saramago's narrative fiction, trying to ask which will be the faces of God delineated in his romanced work. We started from the conjecture that these profiles are constructed based on the fertile and conflicting relationship between José Saramago's texts and the Bible, the traditions and religious dogmas, and also founded on the tense dialogue between Literature and Theology, which is a constant in his works. In this study we will try to answer the following questions: In which way the subject God structuralizes and stirs up his literary work? Under what aspect is this subject an integrating element in his books becoming a fertile excuse for his literary creation? In what way is this subject treated in his novels which form the central corpus of our work? What is the literary content about God in his work? Up to what level is the literary structure of the author's work impregnated by the God of christianism? / Doutor

Para alcançar seus objetivos, o trabalho prevê duas partes: uma análise e interpretação do texto, verificando a constituição literária da obra; depois, o estudo de sua recepção. A análise de Corda bamba limita-se aos recursos literários que mais se destacam na composição do livro. Em relação à recepção, privilegiou-se um estudo de caso, em que se analisou uma pesquisa realizada com duas turmas de oitava série de uma escola pública de Cornélio Procópio, Paraná, no ano de 2000, após a leitura de Corda bamba. Procurou-se, na análise das entrevistas, valorizar o leitor histórico, enfatizando sua prática de leitura. / Abstract: The purpose of this research is to analyse and interpret the book Corda bamba (1979), by Lygia Bojunga Nunes (1932, - ) and has the objective to observe the way it was received by young readers. In order to achieve such an aim, the work was developed into two parts: firstly the analysis and interpretation of the text itself, checking the characteristics of the literary composition and, afterwards, the study of its reception. The analysis of Corda bamba is primary focussed on the literary resources which are noteworthy in the composition of the book. As far as the reception is concerned, it was privileged a case study and it was made an analysis of a research of two groups of students from the eight grade of a public school, in Cornélio Procópio, Paraná state, during the whole year of 2000, after the reading of Corda bamba. All through the analysis of the interviews, it was attempted to give the due value on the historical readers as well as to emphasize their reading practices. / Mestre

Nesse sentido, pretende-se efetuar o levantamento, a seleção e a análise de trinta e quatro publicações literárias - abarcando o que convencionalmente se designou como "literatura geral" e "literatura infantil" - bem como seis coletâneas de ensaios jornalísticos e três volumes de cartas editadas pela Brasiliense. De modo geral, parte-se do conjunto de reflexões articuladas na mocidade - reunidas posteriormente no título Literatura do Minarete (1948) - passando pelas publicações incisivas de 1915 a 1919, e estendendo-se até os textos mais moderados contemplados nas décadas de 30 e 40. Assim, os dados desse estudo serão obtidos, compilados e organizados sistematicamente com base nas orientações da crítica especializada e nas biografias que se centram no itinerário do criador de Emília. Considerando esse quadro, a análise do material coletado permite identificar algumas diretrizes que regem suas convicções teóricas, como: a) a retórica iluminista em sintonia com o discurso republicano finissecular, centrada no anseio de "esclarecer" as diversas camadas sociais; b) o nacionalismo regenerador; c) a filiação aos pressupostos naturalistas; d) a valorização de uma perspectiva dialógica de leitura; e) a concepção de livro como mercadoria; f) a crença na educação como meio... (Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: Considering the hypothesis that it is possible to perceive the expression of a particular aesthetic thought in Monteiro Lobato's (1882-1948) texts, this research aims at tracing distinguished statements on art, literature, reading and child literature in his production during over forty years of intense intellectual militancy (1903 - 1948). Accordingly, the survey, selection and analysis of thirty-four literary publications - covering what is conventionally designated as "general literature" and "child literature" - as well as six journalistic essays selections and three volumes of letters published by Brasiliense is intended to be conducted. The starting point is a bunch of reflexive thoughts from his youth - collected later under the title Literatura do Minarete ("Minaret Literature", 1948) - passing by the incisive publications of 1915 to 1919 and unrolling to more moderated texts from the 30's and 40's. Thus, this study data will be systematically obtained, digested and organized with foundation in specialized criticism orientations and biographies centered in the Emilia's creator itinerary. The collected data analysis allows the identification of some directions which rule his theoretical beliefs, such as: a) the illuminist rhetoric in tune with the finisecular republican speech, centered in the will to 'enlighten' the various social groups; b) the renewing nationalism; c) the following of the naturalistic assumptions; d) the appreciation of a dialogical reading perspective; e) the conception of book as a commodity; f) the belief in education as a means to the country salvation... Orientador: Wilton José Marques / Banca: Tânia Pellegrini / Banca: Antônio Donizeti Pires / Resumo: A coletânea de poemas engajados Violão de Rua, organizada pelo Centro Popular de Cultura (CPC) da União Nacional dos Estudantes (UNE), foi publicada ao longo dos anos de 1962 e 1963 e materializa muito das agitações político-ideológicas e estéticas que marcaram a literatura do período. Acompanhando as transformações, efetivas e almejadas, ocorridas no quadro sócio-econômico do Brasil, caracterizado, ainda, pelo desenvolvimentismo e populismo predominantes na política dos anos anteriores, a literatura e a arte em geral pareciam tomadas por uma onda de intenções revolucionárias. O desejo de mudança repercutiu nas obras literárias, cujos conteúdos e, em casos mais raros, formas destinavam-se à transmissão de uma mensagem conscientizadora para o público pretendido, o povo, esclarecendo-o acerca de sua condição e da necessidade de uma revolução. Este trabalho apresenta uma investigação sobre a imagem de povo nutrida pelos intelectuais de esquerda e presente na literatura do CPC, além de se ater cuidadosamente ao debate entre engajamento literário e qualidade estética, imprescindível para situar o Violão de Rua entre as movimentações literárias da segunda metade do século XX no Brasil. / Abstract: The collection of engaged poems Violão de Rua, organized by Centro Popular de Cultura (CPC) of União Nacional dos Estudantes (UNE), was published along 1962 and 1963 and brings much of the political, ideological and aesthetical agitations that marked that time literature. Among with transformations, made and wished, that occurred in the social-economical situation of Brazil, marked by populism and developmentism, literature and art in general seemed stroked by a wind of revolutionary intentions. The will of change appeared in the literary works transforming them in consciousness tools for brazilian folk. This work presents an investigation about the folk conception of left intellectuals and present in CPC literature. Another worry of this work is the argue between literary engagement and aesthetic quality, necessary to put Violão de Rua into the second half of the XX century literary transformations in Brazil. / Mestre

Para tanto, foram escolhidos cinco romances dentre a lavra do referido escritor, a saber, Emigrantes (1928), A Selva (1930) e O Instinto Supremo (1968), que transfiguram literariamente espaços brasileiros e Terra Fria (1934) e A Lã e a Neve (1947), cuja ambientação ocorre em Portugal. A preferência dada aos romances neste trabalho deve-se ao fato de que, dentre toda sua profícua e diversificada produção escrita, estes são os que mantêm um labor literário mais facilmente detectável, além de promoverem, indefectivelmente, um diálogo intercultural entre Brasil e Portugal, o que faz de Ferreira de Castro autor altamente interessante aos estudos imagológicos. Iniciando sua produção estética no limiar do século XX, Ferreira de Castro não raro, é tido como escritor vinculado a movimentos e ideologias de cunho sociológico e, por isso, não tem figurado em primeiro plano no cânone literário português.Não só porque negou participação em movimentos demarcados, mas, porque julgamos que o labor literário de Ferreira de Castro encontra-se alicerçado na mais alta preocupação estética, ultrapassando quaisquer barreiras ideológicas vincadas e esquecidas com o tempo, buscamos estabelecer um diálogo imagológico entre a autoimagem portuguesa e a heteroimagem brasileira nos romances supracitados, pois, ao fim e ao cabo, desejamos salientar a relevância literária de um escritor que soube, como poucos, ser humanista e estabelecer relações interculturais sem usar de preconceitos. Ao contrário, almejava a comunhão entre os povos de culturas diferentes, espoliados em suas difíceis relações de trabalho. / Abstract: The present PhD Doctoral Dissertation deals with an imagological analysis on the novels by the Portuguese writer Ferreira de Castro (1898 - 1974), in order to reveal the stetical density of a literary production, which remained forgotten for a long time in the Portuguese Literature's canon. Among his novels, one decided to select five of them: Emigrantes (1928), A Selva (1930), O Instinto Supremo (1968), which the unique literary represented setting is the Brazilian one, Terra Fria (1934) and A Lã e a Neve (1947), that bring the reader the Portuguese landscapes as main settings. One choosed the mentioned Ferreira de Castro's novels as corpus of this Doctoral Disseration, because they manifest an effective literary labor in their internal elaboration. Besides we can affirm that all of them promote an intercultural dialogue between Brazil and Portugal,which makes Ferreira de Castro an exceptional writer for the imagological studies. Ferreira de Castro initiates his career as writer at the beginning of the 20th century.Particularly because of this. Castro is not rarely vinculated with sociological and ideological struggles, facts that positions him on the second step of the Portuguese Literature's canon. Ferreira de Castro regrets many times participations on vanguardist movements, which forces to turn one's face also to very highly literary struggles present among the studied novels. As a matter of fact, one cannot consider Castro's literary works as demarked ideological ones, that could be forgotten with the time, because the stetical worries are more relevant and important in his texts. In this dissertation, one establishes an imagological dialogue between the Portuguese self-images and the Brazilian hetero-images existent in the analysed novels. One aims in this research to prove the literary relevance of an author, who knew like no one to be humanist writer and to establish intercultural relationships without using prejudices. / Doutor
