The Transport and Logistics sector has besides the positive aspects concerning the support of economic growth and expanding international trade, several negative environmental impacts. All above is the global discussed climate change in particular the reduction of CO2 emissions followed by environmental friendly packaging and wrapping, warehouse building and efficient transportation forms due to energy consumption. As a consequence of the rising pollution, stricter environmental policy measures are inescapable and logistic service providers have to implement ecological strategies. To incorporate ecological and sustainable aspects in the company structure, it is beneficial to build up an environmental management and to develop corresponding products and services. The present paper identifies strategies that are more or less popular for managing and responding to environmental issues in the Austrian transport and logistics sector. In addition the relationships between company characteristics and the particular types of strategies applied in managing logistics-related environmental impacts are presented. First of all a theoretical overview of terms and development of green logistics is given, followed by a short presentation of the negative external effects caused by the CO2 emissions of road transport. In the next step the impact of logistics in context of sustainable development is analyzed. Furthermore possible green measures are exposed to the strategic adjustment of logistic service providers in terms of environmental policy instruments like eco-controlling and operating figures. After that the presentation of selected expert interviews tries to figure out the importance of the theoretically demonstrated topics in the practical experience in the Austrian transport and logistics industry. Integrerad logistiksupport (ILS) är en teknisk process som ingår inom systemtekniken. Denna tekniska process utvecklades som svar på ett behov av integration mellan de olika tekniska processerna som ingår i ett systems livscykel. Syftet med ILS är att skapa ett samspel mellan de olika tekniska funktionerna som ingår i ett systems livscykel. Detta förhindrar att en enskild åtgärd drivs bort på egen hand i ett interagerat system, oavsett funktionsområde. Målet med ILS är även att reducera ett systems LCC, livscykelkostnad. ILS som supportprocess vanligtvis tillämpas vid design av avioniksystem. Till avioniksystem inkluderas de elektroniska samt elektromekaniska systemen ombord på ett luftfartyg. Dessa system har oftast en liknande intern uppläggning men kan olika ut externt. En nyckelfaktor till framtagningen av tillförlitliga och kostnadseffektiva avionik- och avioniksubsystem är krav och kravhantering. Denna studie ämnar att utforska om, och hur, ett systematisk tillvägagångsätt av ILS påverkar design- och utformningsprocessen för avioniksystem. Den syftar även att utforska hur en supportprocess som ILS kan påverka tillgängligheten av avioniksystem ur ett erfarenhetsbaserat perspektiv med input från avionik- samt ILS-kunniga ingenjörer. Resultat visar att ILS är ett väsentligt element inom systemdesign och vid framtagning av avioniksystem. Vidare visar resultatet att ett systematiskt framförhållningssätt vid design av avioniksystem är viktigt då det bidrar med ett helhetsperspektiv. I sin tur bistår detta med beslutsunderlag för beslutstagande beträffande systemets design och produktion. Resultatet visar även att framtiden för ILS ser positiv ut om lärdomar från avioniksystemen i operativdrift idag får influera morgondagens design- och produktionsprocesser.

Urbaniseringen i världen ökar vilket leder till problem som har negativ påverkan på miljö och klimat i stadskärnor. Även inom Gävle kommun växer invånarantalet och antalet lastbilar i kommunen har ökat stadigt. I Europa framgår det att vägtransporter är det transportslag som växer mest. Dessa lastbilar står för en stor del utsläpp i förhållande till de gods som distribueras då fyllnadsgraden är låg. Genom en tydlig inriktning mot miljö kan företag skaffa sig konkurrensfördelar. Den ökade urbaniseringen har gjort att arbete med citylogistik blivit en viktig del av stadsplaneringen med syfte att förbättra städernas trafikmiljö. Rapporten bygger på ett uppdrag från Gävle kommun som handlar om att utforma en metod för implementering av citylogistik och metoden skall sedan värderas på kommunen. En teoretisk referensram har utformats med teorier kopplade till citylogistik. Nuläget för Gävle kommun angående citylogistik har fastställts genom intervjuer och rapportinsamling. Liknande metod har använts för datainsamling av erfarenheter från andra kommuner som arbetat med citylogistik. De kommuner som undersökts arbetar med externt upphandlade distributionscentraler för att hålla kostnaderna nere och vid upphandlingen av centralerna fokuserar kommunerna främst på hållbarhet ur ett miljömässigt perspektiv. I kommunerna framgår det att arbetet med citylogistik har lett till minskad inverkan på miljön. Det framgår även att vikten av ett fungerande e-handelssystem inom kommunerna är betydande, systemet underlättar beställningsprocessen och möjliggör för både tidsmässiga och ekonomiska besparingar. De slutsatser som dragits leder till en metod där viktiga faktorer för fungerande citylogistik presenteras. Metoden lyfter fram vikten att ha en tydlig vision och att utforma mål kopplat till arbetet för att skapa förutsättningar till uppföljning och utöver detta krävs även resurser. Dessa tre punkter vision, mål och resurser kan tillsammans med ett fungerande e-handelssystem och en distributionscentral skapa förutsättningar för ett fungerande arbete med citylogistik.

Internposten inom Norrköpings kommun analyserades för att utvärdera om Tekniska kontoret kunde ta över planering och distribution av internposten i egen regi och därmed inte längre vara beroende av en extern part.

Kvalitetskraven i samhället blir allt högre och det blir allt tuffare för producenterna att hålla de kvalitetskrav som krävs av kund, men också att uppnå de kvalitetsdirektiv som finns i EU idag. Det finns idag en mängd olika definitioner på vad kvalitet är och hur kvaliteten ska uppnås. EU kräver att alla produkter ska ha CE-märkning, vilket är en försäkring om att produkterna håller den kvalitet som definierad av EU’s lagstiftning. För att möta de krav som finns på kvalitet idag undersöker Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery AB om deras leverantörer följer de direktiv som krävs för tryckbärande anordningar. För att materialen i de tryckbärande anordningarna ska vara godkända krävs det att ståltillverkaren är godkänd för tillverkningen. Ståltillverkaren ska kunna bekräfta godkännandet genom att uppvisa ett så kallat PED certifikat (Pressure Equipment Directive, 97/23/EC).

In times of climate change environmental protection and the reduction of emissions become more and more important. Especially the reduction of CO2-emissions is one of the most widely discussed topics at the moment. As transport is one of the biggest polluters in this respect and reduction figures are poor, many politicians demand reduction measures from the transport sector like the reduction of transports and shifts of transports from road to rail for example. Some logistics service providers try to gain competitive advantages by offering products with low CO2-emissions and they want to know if their reduction measures are effective. For these reasons logistics service providers as well as research facilities develop tools to measure the emissions of transports. The aim of this paper is to present the current state of reduction measures and tools for measuring emissions and find out which role such initiatives play in Austrian firms of the transport and logistics sector. Firstly a theoretical overview about external effects in general and CO2-emissions in particular is given, followed by the presentation of political instruments which could be used for the reduction of emissions caused by the transport sector. Furthermore some current developments in the sector and initiatives by single companies are shown as well as some factors influencing the measurement of emissions and studies comparing the emissions of road transport and combined transport. In the third section some existing tools for measuring emissions of transports are described and compared. Moreover an online survey and some expert interviews are conducted to find out which role the theoretically presented topics play in the praxis of Austrian enterprises. Finally trends are described and recommendations are made based on the results of the empirical work as well as the theoretical research.
