Materiais escritos impressos de orientação em enfermagem: revisão integrativa / Written materials printed in Nursing orientation: an integrative review

Salles, Patricia Sanches 27 August 2012 (has links)
Study integrative review of the scientific literature in order to identify and analyze the characteristics of printed communication of written materials prepared by Brazilian nurses who subsidize Nursing guidelines based on 22 national articles on selected Portal VHL (Virtual Health Library) and VHL theme in Nursing, unlimited period, from previously defined descriptors and keywords, since the low number found only with descriptors (4 items). The studies showed that the aims, the most frequent was to report the process of preparing the material 7 (32,0%). Regarding research designs, we identified 11 (50,0%) are qualitative studies, when the target audience are the patients, 11 (79,0%) articles are intended for adults and when intended for caregivers, 6 (43,0%) are targeted for companions neonates. Regarding the art to which the material is intended as: oncology and neonatal, representing four (18,0%) each. As to where the written material is used to highlight the hospitals and clinics, with 9 (41,0%) each. Regarding the name used for the written material, the most frequent was primer, with 6 (27,0%). It was observed that 15 (68,0%) of the studies were concerned with the preparation of written material, and the most important aspect was quoted content, with 12 (26,0%). In 10 (45,0%) articles were written evaluation of the material being performed in 8 patients and in 2 by professionals. By the numbers and conclude that the results presented written materials printed issue guidance in nursing is understudied and that nursing needs to develop scientific research on the topic. The results show a wide variety and little consensus among authors as to the terminology used for printed material written guidance. It is concluded that there are still questions to be answered in the evaluation of materials, with regard to the periodicity of the evaluation.

The Application of Fire Dynamics to Fire Forensics

Gosselin, Steven Daniel 18 November 2004 (has links)
"Fire investigative methodologies were researched and analyzed resulting in the development of an organizational tool to be used for conducting fire investigations. The tool, or field-guide, was designed to aid the investigator in processing structural fire scenes. The tool accomplishes this by providing, 1) thirteen forms for properly documenting the scene, 2) flowcharts which can enhance the investigators intuition for the fire’s growth rate and spread, and 3) basic engineering correlations which can be used to help validate hypotheses the investigator may develop. By employing these methods, the field-guide can be effectively used to lead an investigator through the entire investigation process - from data collection, to the formulation of hypotheses, and ultimately, to quantitative validation."

Silva, Leonardo Gonçalves 10 August 2018 (has links)
INTRODUCTION: The Society of Jesus from its inception has influenced the most diverse spheres of society, including the informational field. One of the ways of exercising such influence was through the letters written by the religious. OBJECTIVE: To identify and analyze the first prescriptions for the epistolary writing of the Society of Jesus, investigating their contents and comparing them with each other. METHOD: Literature review on the historical-informational context of the sixteenth century, more specifically on the first decades of print expansion and epistolography in the period, focusing on manuals for writing letters; the review sought to emphasize the contributions of the Jesuits in the context. RESULTS: The survey found three epistolary norms in the first years of the Society: the Rules (1547), some articles of the Constitutions (1558) on the subject and the Formula scribendi (1565), whose translation into Portuguese was made exclusively for this work. Their analysis showed that the Society developed rigid norms for the production and circulation of letters, but that made possible the creation of a true network of epistolary information throughout the world. CONCLUSIONS: The Jesuits played a relevant role in the informational context of the sixteenth century, especially through their letters. By determining issues such as authors, recipients, themes of the letters and their deadlines, the rules of letters were of essential importance for the maintenance of this information network.

Trevisan, Thabatha Aline. January 2007 (has links)
Abstract: Aiming to contribute to the understanding of a part of the history of education in Brazil and some aspects yet to be explored of the history of teaching manuals, results of master’s research linked to the Integrated Project Publishing practices and knowledges: the production of printed matters by teachers in normal schools (1911- 1950) are presented. Through documental and bibliographic research, developed and based on a historiography approach as a consequence of contributions coming from cultural history and by means of analysis of textual configuration was elaborated this master’s dissertation which had as documental corpus the manual Pedagogy: theory and practice. This teaching manual was written by Antônio d’Ávila and published in 1954 by Companhia Editora Nacional. Its analysis allowed us to know and understand the knowledges and practices, published by teachers in the forming of new tables in professorship and understanding the conception of Pedagogy presented on it and expressed by Antônio d’Ávila. This educator was a professor in several subjects, including Pedagogy; author of teaching manuals; reading books; translator; Pedagogy critic; writer of newspaper and magazine columns; lecturer; and member of several cultural and professional entities. The results of this research allow us to acknowledge that in the analyzed manual there is a synthesis of the knowledges and practices considered essential to the forming of teachers, especially primary school ones, considered necessary to the effective and efficient teaching practice. These practices and knowledges derive, predominantly, from the idealist of the New School and are found narrowly related to a catholic conception concerning the knowledges and in relation to the conception of Pedagogy presented in the studied manual. / Mestre

The deer-vehicle collision phenomena in the United States

Sielecki, Leonard 11 January 2017 (has links)
Deer-vehicle collisions in the United States (US) have increased dramatically over the last 50 years. Over one million deer-vehicle collisions are estimated to occur throughout the nation annually. These collisions result in hundreds of human deaths, thousands of human injuries, and billions of dollars in motor vehicle damage and health care costs. The increase in deer-vehicle collisions is partly the result of a growing deer population, caused largely by human manipulation of natural ecosystems. Awareness of the hazard deer pose is essential for drivers. Deer represent a dynamic, spatial and temporal hazard. Driver knowledge about deer at any time is critical for hazard awareness. State driver licensing agencies and state departments of transportation are the primary sources of information regarding driving hazards for most drivers. Through driver manuals, driver licensing agencies advise new drivers of hazards and provide strategies for dealing effectively with the hazards. Using nationally standardized warning signs, state departments of transportation advise drivers of potential hazards found along state highway systems. The first extensive nation-wide historical retrospective of the state driver manuals was conducted. The study assessed how new drivers have been informed of the hazard deer pose as this hazard has evolved. The assessment shows, although generally increasing in content, the information provided by state driver licensing agencies has been inconsistent from decade to decade, and from state to state. This inconsistency has left potentially millions of US drivers without fundamental knowledge of the growing deer hazard and/or strategies for dealing with the hazard. Recommendations and an exemplar for improving driver manuals are provided. The first historical retrospective of the standardized warning signs used by state departments of transportation was conducted to assess the effectiveness of these signs for advising drivers of deer hazards. The assessment shows standard deer warning signs used by state departments of transportation provide little temporal information for drivers. The paradigm shifting, risk matrix-based, colour-coded, Wildlife Hazard Rating System® (WildHAZ®) was developed to augment and transform conventional standard static deer warning signs into variable message signs that provide drivers with more consistent and comprehensive warnings about the deer hazard. The results of a web-based questionnaire survey regarding the WildHAZ® system demonstrated the majority of drivers who responded to the survey understand the system and would respond in a manner that should reduce their potential for a wildlife-related motor vehicle collision and/or the potential severity of such a collision. The majority of the survey respondents indicated that they would prefer a system like WildHAZ® to be used on roads and highways. Simulations of the effect of the WildHAZ® system on mean vehicle speeds were conducted. The results of the simulations suggest WildHAZ® system augmented deer warning signs could lead to fewer and less severe deer-vehicle collisions, if mean vehicle speeds were reduced at high risk periods. The risk matrix-based, colour-coded concept incorporated in the WildHAZ® system may have the potential to warn drivers of other spatially and temporally dynamic hazards. / Graduate / 0366 0709 0478 / lookforhelp@shaw.ca
